I ended up adding an oxygen treatment to the package for an extra $30. The entire treatment took about an hour and 45 minutes, and I was very impressed because each minute there was something being done to my face, whether thorough extractions, the oxygen wand, or a calming mask. Each step was done meticulously, and even during "downtime" like when the mask was drying, my technician filled the time with a relaxing arm and leg massage. Well worth the time and price!

Though the site showed that they had no availability on this date I called and was able to be fit in that same day. The receptionist mentioned that my esthetician Rebecca had a language barrier, but she and I got on perfectly fine during my hour long service. She started with cleansing and steaming my face, then got to work using the microdermabrasion and hydration tools which felt like a small suction running up and down my face. I'd never had any type of dermabrasion done to my face before and was a little nervous about how uncomfortable it would feel, but the facial was virtually painless. My skin was feeling a little hot after the treatment, but luckily the next step was a cooling facial mask that smelled kind of like eucalyptus. Rebecca massaged my arms and neck while I had this on, which was my favorite part of the facial. She applied some cream as a finish at the end, and when I looked at my face again my skin looked notably less dull. My blackheads were no longer so visible, and even my pores seemed tighter. This facial was on the pricier side, but I was happy to learn that they have more inexpensive options like the glow and go facial - just $65. The spa itself is beautiful and brand new. It's a relaxing atmosphere which is hard to cultivate when you're stepping in off busy Steinway street. I will absolutely be back.

The new client questionnaire is surprisingly thorough. It cautions clients that bikini waxing can cause Herpes Simplex flare-ups. Something I never knew or heard before. You learn something everyday, my fellow Yelpers. Grace was thorough, yet gentle. She used a violet-hued wax and informed me that as it was organic it'd cause less discomfort than the typical salon wax. She was right about it hurting less & there wasn't any lingering redness. The soothing cream used didn't irritate my freshly waxed underarms & the elevator music playing in the background distracted me from the yank-yanking sounds of unsightly body hair being pulled away. Oceanlab Spa is open 7 days a week and besides waxing, they offers skincare and massage therapy. Combo packages are available & Grace suggested calling ahead to make sure she was there for my next visit.
