We were greeted by a lovely lady who took our names and allowed us on board. Once on, we found perfect seating in the front of the boat and were informed that beverages were being served below. How fortunate that they had a really nice selection of wine, spirits and cocktails at a very affordable price. As for the trip itself- it could not have been more perfect! The boat ride was comfortable and our tour announcer, I did not get his name, was so informative and told us a great history of the area! He was so good that when we got back to our friends' home that evening we even watched The Final Hours co-written by Cory Sherman a friend of our guide. What a great way to end a beautiful day! HIGHLY recommend Bay Spirit tours- not pricey, great customer service and so knowledgable-you will NOT be disappointed!

We went on a rainy day to see some whales. What was interesting is that the whales tend to be in…read moreone spot, so all of the ships were circling around an area just past the tip of Ptown. The ride out was fine and I took some ginger pills beforehand. I stayed on the outer deck, but it was COLD! Definitely worth wearing extra layers and maybe even a winter jacket when venturing out, even in dead of summer. The ride back, I had to choose between cold and nausea, and I chose to sit in the enclosed area in the middle which made me feel so sick but being cold again for the hour or so ride home was not my cup of tea. The in-between: We saw so many whale families. Many of them breached. A few were saying "hi" smacking the water with their fins. Another totally jumped and spun in the air before crashing back into the water with a huge wave. On the way back to port we found one feeding using the bubbles method! I was in the middle area and too sick to get up but I saw someone recording the whole thing and got to see it from their phone! Overall it was awesome. The one thing that's a little bit disappointing is that they tend to go out twice a day. I learned later that that's because they're on a strict schedule with regards to high and low tides at their docking stations. We lingered out a little bit extra for that final breached whale, and rushed back to port to avoid getting stuck at sea. The price is a little steep but it covers the cost of staff, fuel, and other boat needed things. At the end of the tour the guide (describes what you're going to see and what's going on around the vessel in the water) asks for tips and you can drop a few bucks into a bucket as you disembark the ship. From the moment we arrived at the boat, our guide Andrea had all the kids completely engrossed: she had a table set up with live shrimp, fish, sea squirts, etc. ready for the kids to look at under magnification. After a 15 minute ride out to the sandbar, Andrea led us around on foot for about an hour and it was fascinating! Her ability, with almost every step, to identify creatures with interesting stories was a blast for kids and adults alike. Her knowledge is encyclopedic, and her manner is pure enthusiasm. I lost my dad 7 years ago but as I was standing on the pier I could hear him yelling at me as if I were purposely catching puffer fish that he had to fight off the hook. Yes, I admit to getting teary eyed with nostalgia. It is a really cute beach with a nice jetty. The pier is great for high tide fishing and low tide viewing. The water is super clear with no snags or rocks to catch your line.

If I am to rate this beach it's simple, out of all the open ocean facing South Yarmouth beaches…read morethis is the one as a child I called the new beach because it was created last on this strip of beaches roughly a mile or so long. It sits at the opposite end from the free "first" beach and in between is what we always called the "swing" beach for obvious reason. This beach sits next to the Smugglers Beach motel which I think was changed to condos many years ago. The beach has a large boat ramp for launching boats and the ramp used to be free but now the town charges to launch. The beach itself also charges to park. Overall the largest beach and it sits at the mouth of Bass River and has a pier to fish from.

He brought us out 60 miles to where the fish were biting and we walked away with 9 striped bass (one being a 38 pounder!) I would love to go back again when i'm in town visiting again.
