I booked impel moving because of the stellar yelp reviews. Unfortunately the experience I had didn't align with their high ratings. I am used to efficient, quick, and strong movers with Lugg. The movers I had with Impel not only took their sweet time, they also relied on dollys to move items. They had no strategy in filling the truck so they ended up using time to take already packed items out of the truck to rearrange. Their team didn't inform them of the type of move we booked (which was apartment to storage unit) so they wasted time with their apartment to apartment framework which is apparently different than apartment to storage. The movers blamed me for their team's miscommunication and was overall rude. The movers also lectured me on SF street parking as if they had never helped people move in a big city before. Their policy is a 3 hour minimum and here are the payment details: 2 movers + 1 truck $125 cash per hour or $135 for cc (3 hour minimum) $50 one time truck fee Travel time is charged double We ended up paying $612 + tip so $700 total. Honestly, for this steep price it's pretty comparable to just hiring two XL Luggs who don't have attitude or a minimum time length, go as fast as possible, are physically strong and think strategically about truck organization with boxes and furniture. read more

Zhan and Batas(?) helped us unload the equivalent of a 2 bedroom apartment + an electronic music studio into a house in Russian Hill. They were very professional, efficient, and easy to work with. We had a lot of fragile gear and nothing was broken. Despite the rain and lack of garage parking, they did the entire unloading in less than 3 hours for an affordable price. Since there was a 3-hour minimum on the booking, they helped assemble some furniture too. The only downside is that Dennis didn't give us an exact time they would arrive - I asked for 4pm and he said they would arrive between 4 and 5pm. They ended up calling me around 4:10pm to say they were on their way and arriving around 25min later. Normally this is no big deal, but we were in a slightly precarious parking situation with our uhaul. Note they charge a 3.5% fee for credit cards so it is better to have cash on hand. Despite this I would happily work with them again if I were moving in SF. read more

We loved our experience with Bay Area Efficient Movers. - From Oakland to Mountain View, CA last Sunday (about 40 minutes' drive) - 1-bedroom apartment (our stuff almost filled the 17-foot truck) - We did 99% of our packing beforehand (except for a few items in the fridge) - 2-men crew (Olzhas and Nurik) - Moving started at 8:45am, all done before 1:30pm - The crew arrived a little bit earlier than our scheduled time, came upstairs to assess what we had, and came back with all the tools and boxes. The time didn't start until they actually started working. - The movers were very very efficient, respectful and friendly. They only asked for 5 minutes' rest during unloading, didn't even have a lunch break. - The loading dock of our previous apartment wasn't open by the time all the furniture was wrapped up, so the crew parked across the street and moved everything without waiting for the loading dock. - Our new apartment is on the 2nd floor without an elevator. And the crew had to walk through a small courtyard to our side of the building. - We helped to unwrap furniture when the movers were unloading the stuff to our new apartment, to speed things up and also because we hated to stand by doing nothing... Before booking BAE Movers, I talked with different moving companies. Hourly price-wise, they were pretty comparable. But the following reasons made it an easy decision to choose BAE Movers: 1. To be fair my items were already pre-packed before these guys came so there wasn't much room for error with my stuff. My roommate however allowed them to pack her items and we'll let's say they did a subpar job at best. Broken Gucci glasses and TV. They eventually after haggling with them replaced her tv for current value. They did however scratch my Apartment brand new floors ‍ (I moved into a newly remodeled unit ) I originally thought it was scuff marks , but no they were scratch marks Morale of the story is ... if you decide to use them because you are in a pinch ... all electronics should be tested before leaving your old place and then immediately after the move to avoid the headache Also I strongly encourage you to make them use pads on your floor if you have marble or wood... to preserve your floors Fair warning to avoid harassment and just all out frustration if you decide to use these guys.... Micro manage the heck out of them ..especially if you have them pack items and as mentioned if they will be coming into a house with nice wood and or marble floors. I'd give these guys 10 stars if I could. Bay Area Efficient Movers helped me complete what would have been a nightmare packing/move-out in just one day! A wonderful experience from the moment I contacted them to the time my move was complete. To quickly summarize my full review: 1. Receiving the quote was clear/easy and they accurately predicted my moving needs (much better then I did). The price was very fair relative to the competition. 2. Movers were hard-working, careful, responsive to directions, and friendly. 3. The movers went above and beyond in several ways: - Sent two additional movers free of charge in order to complete the move faster!! - Accurately packed/sorted and moved my items into two separate storage units - Helped me carry furniture out to Craigslist buyers/move certain items to my car, etc. Full Review: I contacted ~10 moving companies for quotes while I was out of the country. Adam was one of the first to respond, providing a clear quote and asking for the additional information he needed to help me further. It was one of the cheaper quotes that I received. Adam (correctly) predicted that I would need 3 movers and a larger truck just by looking at photos of my condo. While I was initially hesitant to pay for the additional mover (my condo was only a 1BR), Adam's prediction proved to be 100% accurate because: packing takes a long time, I had way more stuff then I thought I did, and the elevator/parking situation at my complex complicated the logistics of the move-out. I ended up saving a lot of money with the additional mover cutting down the total time of the move. The movers themselves were amazing. Most importantly, they were extremely hard workers. Nobody slacked off or took a random smoke break the moment I turned my back on them (a complaint I often encountered when vetting other competing moving companies on Yelp). It was as if I had gathered a group of my most hard-working/diligent friends to help me move. Second, the movers were extremely careful with my furniture. Almost all furniture and other items were carefully shrink-wrapped, and larger items were wrapped in moving blankets. Much of my clothing was packed away in wardrobe boxes at my request. Nothing was damaged and everything was treated with the utmost care. They were also friendly and followed directions without hesitation/complaint. At one point during the move I sold some of my furniture to a Craigslist buyer. At my request, the movers immediately stopped what they were doing and carried those pieces of furniture out to the buyer's car. Similarly, when I asked the movers to start loading some of the packed items out of the hallway and into the truck to avoid bothering my neighbors, they did so immediately. My move was complicated due to the need to split my items between two separate storage units. At my request the movers accurately kept track of which storage unit each box and piece of furniture should go. To top everything off, the company sent two additional movers to help out free of charge!! More then anything this showed me these guys prioritize making the customer happy, and not their bottom line. Not only did they provide free labor, they actually cut into their profits (given that they charge by the hour and the move ended up taking less time with the extra help). Thanks again to Adam, Dennis, Tom, Uplaksh and Vitali for their fantastic work and turning what would have been a stressful nightmare experience (that would have taken me several days) into a seamless one day process! We contacted BAEM with pretty short notice to move homes with hopes of moving into our new home before Christmas. Adam came out to our current, unpacked and mess home, and gave us a quick quote. They did not have any hidden fees and everything was included. Since we messaged them on yelp we even got a discount! They do charge extra if you use credit card but that's to be expected. Adam was always responsive and accommodated our last minute changes of move dates. On the day of the move, I was notified by Denis of about what time they would be at our house. They arrived just as they said they would and, after a quick chat, they were on their way. Denis brought three other folks with him and everyone was super accommodating, hard workers, and very polite. WONDERFUL SERVICE! I have never moved so smoothly in my life. Like everyone in the bay area, we scour all of Yelp to find the most economically sound and fair service. BAEM is that company. They gave clear quotes with no hidden fees. On top of that, the owner (I think) called me to explain the one bad review they received last quarter. I didn't even ask for it. He just up front explained and eased any worry I might have. They sent a confirmation email and followed up the day before. Dennis and Uplaksh came on time. For a time frame between 8-9, they came at 830a sharp. We were raring to go and stacked some boxes outside to prep. They saw this and jumped right on in after a very quick introduction. They wasted NO time. When we were finished loading up, we calculated the double drive time and went separate ways. They asked for a 15 minute break - to which I felt like an ass for not even thinking about it - and of course we said yes because I barely helped and I needed a break already. When we were unloading, a cheapie lamp fell down. We didn't think anything of it because it was cheap and we didn't care to wrap it or even tell them to be careful. Without asking for anything, they offered to dock the price of the lamp - which was SO thoughtful, I wanted to hug them. Really, so friendly and truly efficient movers. I cannot recommend them enough. Definitely, definitely book BAEM if you'd like to not cry during your moving day. read more

It was a pleasure working with Bay Area Efficient Movers in our recent move from SOMA to the Mission. Adam was super prompt about getting back to my request about scheduling the move on such short notice (less than 2 weeks). I contacted him via Yelp and he responded within 15minutes. He gave great feedback about the number of movers and expected time estimate. I was able to schedule the move to begin between 8AM-9AM on a Saturday which was a lifesaver. The guys who did the move (shout out to Eriman and Vitalique) arrived promptly at 8:03AM and were ready to go. While the whole thing took longer than expected, the fault was on our end (management did not lock the elevators at our old place or the new place, boo). All of or worldly possessions were transferred successfully to our new apartment :) I would definitely recommend this company to anyone doing a city move. read more

Despite the complicated elevator setup, lack of a loading dock at the destination, and restrictive elevator reservation (I only had the elevators for the morning in both condos), the BAEM team handled everything professionally and efficiently. From the first point of contact, when Adam promptly giving me an estimate and answered all my questions, to when Sam and Timur showed up on time and moved my stuff quickly, they were a pleasure to work with. I also liked that they have all the appropriate licenses. It set them apart from other companies. I did research on how to choose a good mover. It is recommended that they have a license with the U.S. Department of Transportation, and that they have insurance. Dennis and his partner Alex busted their butts today, and I was only moving 5 blocks! They arrived at the early part of the time window I had scheduled, with ample heads-up, and got right to work. Overall, packing up my bedroom, moving it, and unpacking some basics on the other side took 5 hours. I also loved that their hourly fee included everything (materials, labor, stairs, mileage, everything!), so I wasn't concerned about how much tape they used or whether they took a wrong turn. Overall, not the *most* meticulous packing job I've ever seen, but I don't have anything terribly fragile, and nothing has been damaged, to my knowledge. Great movers. They gave me a deal cuz I had only 3 items to move. They showed up a little late, but it was no biggie to me and they had just gotten off a massive move before mine apparently. They managed to move my massive couch out no problem too. I thought they'd be stuck with that for awhile. They worked quickly and hard. Their supervisor, Denis, also showed up and lent a hand. They were easy to schedule, available same week, and were great with communication! Our move was only a studio, but parking at both locations is a nightmare, plus one had 4 floors of stairs.
