Food was mediocre, service was slow, and they charged us higher prices than were on the menu. I got the lentil veggie carnival. It was just okay- a small scattering of roasted vegetables and rice pilaf. The rice wasn't aromatic and the vegetables didn't have much flavor. Aside from the chicken and beef kebabs, no one at the table really enjoyed their meal. Hummus and fluffy pita were great but it's hard to mess up dips. Service was completely overwhelmed for a weekend dinner. There were too many tables and one of the waiters elbowed my friend's head while serving another table. I think it's on management for not having enough staff as the servers themselves were kind and attentive when they had the time to check on us. Upon paying, they charged us an extra $10 for the bottle of wine we ordered. It was $70 on the menu and $80 on the tab. It was my friend's birthday so no one wanted to make a fuss but the vibes were off afterwards. Wouldn't come back. read more

Quite the interesting persian spot that felt so different than Eyval or Sofreh. It really felt like a persian owned spot with some cute quirks. The staff is so friendly and so many persians were there, I was quite pleased at that! You don't typically walk into any restaurant in Chelsea/Flatiron and find that half the people or more in the restaurant are of that culture (unless we're talking cheeseburgers or wings here). Their wine list is extensive and interesting. They don't have everything on it, but that's okay, we had a fun Artadi wine from Spain - a winery we've been to, which was what I was going for on the list. The cocktails didn't speak to me, but that's okay, persian cocktails can be great or confused. These seemed more on the confused side. The fresh herbs were served as an app, and they were great. Just like my grandma always has on her table. The feta stuffed dates were fantastic, again a nice treat that reminds me of something my grandma might serve me. The labne was stellar with pita bread, and the kashk e bademjan was really good, though not like any I've made before. But that dish can be wildly different anywhere you go. I asked for Tahdig and got some, but I got ghormeh sabzi dolloped on my tahdig which was interesting - like ghormeh sabzi nachos. I do wish the ghormeh sabzi was better. However I may just be extremely partial to our own ghormeh sabzi at home. The cornish game hen kabas were out of this world! sooooo juicy! Definitely worth a visit - you'll enjoy it - but I don't know if tahdig and ghormeh sabzi here are the way to go. read more

One of my favorite date spots in Chelsea. I love a white linen tablecloth. Cute ambiance. They have an outdoor area in the back. Extensive wine list. Unpretentious. Persian food, and everything is made in house and excellent. Prices of wine have a good range and great bottle selection. They have happy hour, I believe it's noon to 6pm at the bar. They were very welcoming, kind, and attentive. I loved that the menu was labeled for allergies. The portions of the food were huge and excellently seasoned. Go for the wine; the food is... okay, not bad. They do have some very authentic recipes and well-prepared if you're looking for more traditional Persian fare, beyond just kebabs and rice. Maybe I'm more inclined toward Lebanese or Turkish food, but I didn't find the food here super appetizing. Awesome selection of wines but the reds were too hot. All wines are supposed to be kept at ambient cool-temperature and they had theirs out on the bar. Granted, could've been the fact that we were having a humidity wave at the time, but I don't think it served the reds well to be kept out above their optimal temperature-- especially because they do have a great wine selection and you should totally be making your way through that menu! On a chilly Valentine's Day, we scheduled a double date at this cozy restaurant. Right when you walk in, the atmosphere is bustling as everyone's enjoying a drink or two, waiting for their food. Speaking of waiting, we waited for our food for quite a while. We ordered drinks first, but our food came first--30 minutes later. We had to remind our waiter for our drinks, but I could tell that maybe the night was just hectic for the staff. The food was pretty good. I wouldn't say all of it was a breathtaking experience, but I would suggest it as a place to try since New York has so many restaurants for you to try and compare each. My favorite was the dip trio. My friends really liked the hummus, while I focused on the yogurt and cucumber dip. The meats were delicious also, but still not out-of-this-world. Our party thought the eggplant dish was probably not best for our palette, I wasn't able to try due to allergies! Overall, I give the place a 4. Short review: I didn't actually eat much here, as I had an extravagantly expensive work lunch earlier that left me waddling like a penguin, and then a ridiculously lavish work happy hour. I *did* try a couple of bites of my friend's Ghormeh Sabzi--my favorite Persian stew--and it was scrumptious. But mostly, I remember our drinks: - Call Me Honey: Sweet, just like the apologies I had to make to my liver when I went home. - My Heart Is on Fire: Tasty and perfect for pepper lovers - Mediterranean Mule: Spiced and spicy, like a certain 1995 world-dominating girl band. - Persian Queen: My favorite of the night. - Love & Poetry: More like love and regret at this point, but I had a good buzz going and this came with cinnamon. - Paris to Shiraz: Maybe the only cocktail dud. Came here with my Persian friend who was pleasantly satisfied with all of the options. It is hard to find authentic Persian food in NYC for some reason, but we had a nice meal here. Solid 7/10 for me. Kebab meat was tender and juicy, and nice fluffy rice with different options including pistachios and raisins - authentic! The bread was nice and fluffy, and they served tea the Persian way with sugar cubes that you put in your mouth and take sips of tea to let it dissolve. The drinks were solid as well. The olive dip was briney and flavorful. The baklava was sweet, but not too sweet and maintained a good flaky texture. If you haven't had persian food and are looking to explore it in a sit-down restaurant setting, this is a great place to check out! I came here with family, and the hostess was really warm and accommodating. We were led to a table at the front of the restaurant, but then we requested to sit at the back of the restaurant, where it was a bit warmer. They gladly moved us toward the back. We ordered three dishes to share: one stew and two kabobs. The chicken kabob did not have much of a flavor to it, though the ground beef one had a nice, subtle pepper taste. The ghormeh sabzi was delightful. It had the perfect amount of sourness to it. I highly recommend it. They serve a good portion of food. We did not order any dessert, since we were pretty full. Surprised to find a 7 o'clock reservation on a Friday night. That said,our party of four was seated many of the available tables quickly became taken. Started with MAST BADEMJOON fried eggplant and yogurt dip . Tasty but badly needed salt . Saffron wings were well seasoned and juicy. We got 3 orders of beef sultanani some with rice others with shirazi salad. These are 2 kebabs one of each koobideh and the other grilled beef. 4th order was for safffon chicken only kebabs. Deeply Disappointing - Be Aware of the Bill (1/5 *) I came in expecting solid Persian food -- especially in NYC -- but left completely disappointed. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet it took 45 minutes between the starter and main course. Three servers, no rush, no explanation. When the food finally came: * The chicken and beef kabobs were dry, bland, and tasted old -- nowhere near authentic. * Even the masto khiar (yogurt with cucumber) was off -- they added olive oil, which totally ruined the flavor. And beware when the check comes: there was a 3% price increase added to the bill. The menu wasn't updated, but the owner charges new prices anyway -- with no warning. I've honestly never seen that. I didn't touch my main dish and ended up giving it away. This is not real Persian food, and definitely not NYC quality. Won't return -- and watch your bill if you go. read more

Made a reservation for 4 for a Saturday evening at 7:15pm. I'm happy I did because the restaurant is small and it was crowded! We sat at the table all the way in the back and had a wonderful dinner. I was visiting/catching up with friends and was thankful that we weren't rushed; our dinner ended up being 2.5 hours long. Our server was nice giving us recommendations for wine bottles with tastings and suggestions for food and apps. We ended up getting a bottle of wine since they were having a special. We ordered the hummus, feta stuffed dates, grape leaves, eggplant dip and falafel. The apps were my favorite! I loved the grape leaves and the dips! Our entrees were average. I think it's the style of how Persian cooking, but the steak and chicken were under seasoned. The lamb was fantastic though. The entree portions were large and can definitely be shared between two people. It ended up being a super pricey dinner with the bottles of wine, but I was happy with the service and amount of time that we were able to spend taking our time. The food was pretty average though. I very much need to continue on this trend and I so appreciate that one of my favorite people introduced me to Shiraz Kitchen and their Persian cuisine. It was like going to my favorite tia's/aunties house and her spoiling me to tickles-- indulging our every whim but also knowing when to give space. I'm just in love. I will certainly be back. So we had the following: Water: Pellegrino, they have still and sparkling options Wine by the glass: Malbec ($14) & Shiraz ($15) - they do have specials on bottles. Complimentary Bread, Herbs and digestive - Perfect supplement to meals (Appetizer) Fig Stuffed Dates (4 per order) - sultry flavors danced on my tongue! Perfect example of Quality ingredients!! (Stew) Ghormeh Sabzi - Herbed Beef & Kidney bean - light but filling all at the same delicious time. (Stew) Bademjoon - Eggplant & Beef in a love affair that lasts forever. Bravo! (Rice) Zereshk - Dried barberry & Pistachio - adds pop to whatever you eat. Loved the extra flavors and textures. We regrettably didn't leave room for dessert! I am planning the possibility of returning to make sure that I don't miss twice. Considering the original location is a Bib Gourmand recipient, these folks know what they're doing and I want to try it. The service is attentive and very hospitality based. Loved it. The bathroom is to the rear, make a left and down the stairs. Bathroom is clean, cute and stocked. Came here on a weekday night and the ambiance was cute during Persian new year. I got the complimentary pita bread and feta along with a shirazi salad, lamb chop kebab and saffron chicken kabob. All tasted really good. The lamb chop kebab stole the show and the shirazi salad was light and refreshing. I've had better chicken though- I felt this was slightly on the rubbery side.
