Ok Shirin Bakery is legit and just stupid good. A sugary nirvana game changer. People get your arse in gear and over to Shirin Bakery, walk, run, ride a bike, Metroline, Uber, punch the address in Google maps as your HOME, fire up the Winnebago but get there. Do not pass go, do not collect $200 but get there by any means necessary. It is a sugar destination for the ages. HELLO are we clear... Bueller, Bueller! My Sunday Funday started innocently enough. Workout, walk Zuma hit Starbucks for my Almond Milk Latte and meet up with a group of Yelp friends at Shirin Bakery for a sugar intervention. Our beloved Meli N has a problem and has become addicted to the Chocolate Croissants at Shirin Bakery. She virtually lives there, her mail is now delivered at Shirin, she has a key, she refers to the baker as her dealer and she has been known to sneak in after hours just to roll around in the dough and bathe in the chocolate. She screams the name "SHIRIN" repeatedly during the throws of passion. She talks to the chocolate croissants as in "my pretty" and "where have you been all my life" She has alarms on her phone when the croissant inventory gets low and now Shirin is on direct deposit... This is all part of being Yelp Elite and a friend. Just consider us Yelpers without borders, Guardians of the Yelp sugar galaxy and the newly minted program "YSA" Yelp sugar annonymous... The plan was to confront Meli at Shirin Bakery once they opened and have the intervention. I was joined by fellow Yelp Elites Aryo, Sharlette, Joseph and Patra. We reached out to Nick the owner of Shirin Bakery and her chocolate croissant dealer to assist us in the intervention but he was reticent as he is planning on opening another Bakery and remodeling his home thanks to Meli and her thirst for voluminous amounts of Shirin chocolate croissants every (3) hours throughout the day. Meli personally accounts for 70% of Shirin revenues lmao Shirin Bakery is just the cutest innocent, unassuming looking purveyors of decadent sugary goodness you will ever find. When we arrived Nick the owner, visionary and Meli's dealer greeted us warmly with a smile, welcome and how can I help you because any friend of Meli is a friend of mine. Offering us some free samples he was trying to get us addicted as well lol As we waited for Meli the Yelp posse ordered a series of breakfast sandwiches to pass time and lull him into a false sense of security. As the group was devouring the incredible scratch made breakfast sandwiches on freshly baked croissants he brought out a tray of warm chocolate croissants just out of the oven and freshly brewed Persian tea (BASTARD) he's trying to kill us with kindness and sugar... Meli showed up but nobody noticed as we were all eating, moaning, groaning and being pleasured in a virtual sugary nirvana coma. OMG this Nick guy is good he's really flippin good, playing all innocent and naive. Everything about him is sweet and addicting. Then little sly Nick aka Meli's sugar dealer brings out a tray of Creme Brulee and proceeds to douse them is freshly granulated sugar and torch those badboys on the table. Oh Yeah this Nick is good he is slick and plays dirty with sugar. All I remember was going to Shirin Bakery but have no idea again why??? It's a puzzler lol Seriously people this is the BEST little "crack" I mean sugar house of pleasure in the Valley... Everything is scratch made with love, care, passion and culinary expertise and true artistry. This is magical and not fair. It is addicting and Meli I apologize for ever doubting you or your incredible descriptions of pure orgasmic ecstasy because once you have wrapped your lips around some Shirin sugary gift from the gods normal stuff just doesn't cut it and you are transformed to another place of consciousness and blissful solitude. I was getting jealous as customers kept coming and leaving with armfuls of goodies. I hate you people all of you. It's mine it's all mine go away. I want to be like the "Soup Nazi" on Seinfeld except the modern day Shirin Bakery version No sugar for you. LMAO Shirin Bakery is family owned and operated along with being truly magical and worthy of accolades. Amazing simply incredible and amazing. Sharing is caring at Shirin Bakery. This family owned establishment deserves nothing less than five Stars. This place came highly recommended by one of my favorite Elite. Hidden on a busy Ventura Blvd, Shirin is a very clean, modern & cozy spot. I recommend that you do not dine in here alone. This is definitely a place to sit, converse, and share all these AMAZING goodies this bakery has to offer. I came in with a vivacious group of friends and, to say we enjoyed ourselves is an understatement. We opted for quite a few items and shared a taste of everything. My favorite was the Creme brûlée. FANTASTIC! Nick the owner spreads the top with a little sugar and scorches it right in front of you. (Pic below) it was sooo delicious. The Chocolate croissant was unbelievably good. (A must try) They sell the cookies by the pound. I tried quite a few and they were all delish. They also welcome you with complimentary Persian Tea. Love, love, love it. A great place to order customized cakes at a reasonable price. I have ordered cakes in two separate occasions, a birthday cake covered in fondant and an anniversary cake with buttercream. I was very happy with both orders and the cakes were beautiful and elegant looking. I was very specific with instructions in terms of decoration. The cake was also moist. I have no words to thank you enough for saving my daughter's birthday party after a small family business kind of a bakery cancelled my cake 2 days before the party. It was already embarrassing to ask you guys for a cake 24hrs from pick up time, but you felt my pain and embraced my cause and for that you gained my business for life. My wife and I decided to go for a walk since we had to wait 40 minutes for a table at Sol y Luna. We walked down the street and noticed this new, attractive looking bakery on the way. Since we had no place to go in particular, we decided to pop in and take a look. Really glad we did! The cookie shelf is per pound, while the other display is per piece. Everything looked so good, it was hard to choose! We ended up ordering the rice cookie, Armenian butter cookie, kalachki, cream horn, lemon tart, and latifeh. These were so delicious, in fact, that we managed to eat all of them, along with an Armenian coffee for myself and a Persian tea for my wife, all before our dinner! The Armenian coffee was familiarly smooth yet very powerful. It went down with a smooth, well-balanced mouth-feel and flavor. It has the "mud" at the bottom of the cup at the perfect consistency, which to me is always a good sign of a well-made Armenian coffee. It reminded me of the coffees I have at my Armenian friend's house; I was very impressed, as usually cafes don't pull this one off as good as home-made. Everything we had was really tasty and enjoyably textured. The thing both my wife and I really loved about the cookies and pastries here was that everything we had was not only nice and fresh tasting and feeling but had just the perfect amount of sweetness. We don't like our desserts so overly sweet, and we think these had such an excellent level of sweetness which makes them even more addicting; it makes you want to keep eating more! My highlights of what we got were the Armenian butter cookie, kalachki, and latifeh. The Armenian butter cookie is very simple but very pleasant, with a perfect crumble and a light dusting of powdered sugar. The kalachki was a bit soft, yet firm (does that even make sense? I guess the best way to say it is that it was quite structurally sound), flaky, and wonderfully buttery and sweet. The jam was actual fruit preserves, so it didn't have that one-dimensional corn syrup jam flavor you might expect from these kind of cookies, and had a really lovely strong fruit flavor to it. Maybe strawberry? Whatever it was, it was delicious! And the latifeh... I've never had something quite like this before, and it kind of blew my mind. It was basically sponge cakes sandwiching some kind of cream and dressed with pistachios. The ganache tasted delectably creamy and buttery, and the nuttiness of crunchiness of the pistachios provided a complementary texture and creaminess in their own right. Everything in this one just comes together so well, I think I have a new favorite dessert! Her favorites were the latifeh and lemon tart. The lemon tart also had a really nice cream on top and the lemon curd's zest is just enough zing and sweetness to synergize with the buttery flaky-yet-not-crumbly tart crust. Perfection. As far as the ambiance, the table-counter at the window facing the street was absolutely stunning! The owner mentioned that he had built it himself. The table top was a huge plank of reclaimed wood that he sealed himself and built legs using piping, the frame of which had a perfectly positioned support running across it that made for a really comfortable foot rest. The shop is very clean and bright and welcoming, as was the owner! Also, and I'm sad I didn't think to take a picture of it, but they had this cake on display with some incredibly intricate fondant art work. Really aesthetically pleasing! Really glad to see this high-end feeling bakery in the neighborhood open recently, and I wish them the best of luck as I'm looking forward to coming here again and again. You can see that they put a lot of care and thoughtful work into everything here, and I can really appreciate that. Update: Came back a few days later to pick up our order of latifeh and assorted cookies for our friends' engagement party. Our order was ready at the time we set, all fresh! We couldn't help but try the fresh latifeh made for our order, and it was just as delicious as the first time I tried it, but even better because it was made just for us! So decadent yet delicate. Still my favorite new dessert! We tried the strawberry cream puff, which was amazing! The puff pastry was very airy, with a nice substantial chewiness yet delicately tender. The strawberries were fresh and sweet and added a nice slight fresh tang to cut the cream, which was just the right sweetness and seemed to be infused with strawberry flavor essence as well. The date cookies are nicely crumbly with a chewy date filling and crunchy roasted almond slices on top. Great as well. The almond log is chewy, cakey, nutty, with crunchy roasted almond slivers on top. Lovely hints of marzipan inside. Really glad we came back so soon, it's good to know that they're consistent in their quality and service here. That's critical and I'm glad to confirm it. read more

The cake was beautiful and from there been going ever since. Just recently I placed an order for my sister's bridal shower which her theme was boho. I am very disappointed with my experience at Shirin Bakery. I ordered a custom cake for a birthday, three weeks in advance. They asked me what flavor profile I wanted and I told them chocolate and raspberry and that I enjoyed chocolate ganache. I showed up to pick up the cake on the day of and they gave me a plain chocolate ganache tart with ~10 raspberries on top as decoration. I felt a little bit robbed because first of all, I asked for a cake and got a tart. Second of all, I ordered weeks ahead of time and got something that they make as a daily tart at whole foods. Third of all, I LITERALLY make the same tart at home all the time and I paid $50 for this birthday "cake". It gets two stars instead of one because the taste was good. Again, I literally make a chocolate ganache tart all the time and at least I add jam into my ganache or under the tart. The raspberry decorations were an afterthought. They literally mixed chocolate and heavy cream and poured it over the crust and stuck some raspberries on top. Charged me $50. Really disappointed. Honestly can't believe the positive reviews. So my family, very last minute, decided to do a surprise birthday party for my grandmas 80th.
