I ordered the number seven, two pancakes, two eggs and two sausage. The pancakes were soft and hot, but the texture was kind of rubbery, it was really hard to cut them with a fork. And they brought me out a bottle of aunt Jemima or whatever they change the name to. It's basically brown colored corn syrup, it's so disgusting. I couldn't even finish my pancakes. It's so sticky and gets everywhere and has zero maple flavor, I am used to having only maple syrup. So I might be a little picky, but I've ordered pancakes at blackbear, for instance, and it's not nearly the same kind of syrup. It's not as sticky. It's darker and color and a little more runny, not as thick and corn syrup like as this one. I don't know if they get it from like Cisco or if this is actually what aunt Jemima taste like, but it's horrendous and honestly made the meal bad. I just ate the eggs and sausage and left, took my pancakes home to use real syrup. 3 stars specifically for the customer service, all the ladies were nice. They did not do anything wrong, they were great, they provided the meal they were fast. I was seated fast, all my needs or meant from a typical dining experience, except the pancakes were kind of awful. parking is really small though, so I waited a few minutes in the parking lot for someone to come out, but overall, it just wasn't my taste, three stars is just because of my preference. If it were not for a simple, pleasant dining experience, it would be one star. Also, I think I would go try something else, I wouldn't knock the entire establishment for bad pancakes, it's really popular so I'm sure they have other good stuff. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. We were looking for something to eat, and my friend found this place when we pulled up. It looked suspicious, but we didn't care, and thank god we didn't. That was a pretty good meal. I only got 3 sunny-side-up eggs and 2 sausages, and I really thought it was good and had an amazing taste. My friend ordered real meals and said it was good. The service was fast and good. The ambiance was amazing and peak, and it was so fun to look at all the state license plates. I would eat here again if I lived in Washington and not California. read more

The food was ok and the ambiance we different. I have to say that the service here is way below then then average and that is saying a lot. The three waitresses seem to be less interested in their guest than any thing. Felt like they were forest to work here. Not one of them were present to the customer s that came in. The place is empty with only 4 tables being used and some how they can't remember what people ordered. So sad that this place could be so much more but the staff needed and overhaul. Please consider getting staff that care about where they work and who comes to dine with them. read more

Wonderful people. Require vaccination card which is fine with us. The. Best. Crispy hash browns I've ever had. Eggs Benedict was tasty. Hubby's corned beef hash wasn't salty, which is hard to achieve. Server was friendly and kind. The vibe is so much fun. There are license plates from all over the US hanging on the walls and ceiling - a few other countries. Other cool memorabilia on the walls and a toy train makes rounds on the track near the ceiling. Shirley's is a wonderful spot. I've been here with friends twice. The furnishing is unusual with well padded vinyl covered arm chairs -- And licenses plates from everywhere. And the food is great. Last time we were served by Shirley's granddaughter -- busy and proud of the cafe, Lots of menu items, even chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy and many many burgers and more. The biggest draw to this diner is their interior decor. The exterior doesn't look like much and honestly, we thought about finding another place to eat when we pulled up to the parking lot. But the interior decoration had a lot of character. They have many license plates hanging from the ceiling, donated by visitors over the years. An impressive collection that covers all 50 states and a couple of countries. They also have various currencies and a train that periodically goes through the top of the walls. They definitely have some of the most interesting decor of any diners I've been to. The food itself didn't have anything special. Most items were cooked well but the ingredients were pretty basic with very minimal spice. We were surprised that we ended up paying more here than at black bear diner given that we got way more food there and the food was better there as well. Value for the money didn't quite seem to be there which is why it's getting a lower rating for me. The service and staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would come back for the decor and service but maybe not the food. read more

Waitresses were attentive to our coffee levels, and brought the bill promptly. The ambiance is super cute with the wind chimes, license plates, and novelty cookie jars. The toy train with Sesame Street characters going around the ceiling was an especially darling addition. Will definitely come again if I stop in Port Angeles another time. read more

I've never been particularly impressed by the food at Shirley's Cafe, but it's available through DoorDash, and I figured I'd give it another try. Everything I got were things I'd never tried from there before. The tuna melt wasn't bad, but it wasn't really good, either. The menu actually calls it a hot tuna sandwich, but it was basically a tuna sandwich on grilled bread. There were chunks of tuna that weren't broken up well, and nothing in there for extra flavor. It was just tuna and mayonnaise. It did come with cheese, lettuce and a few pickle slices, though. I asked for no tomatoes. I got the side salad and it was fine. The cup of chili with cheese and onions came in a half-filled drink cup. Despite the questionable packaging, it was actually pretty good. It just wasn't really good enough or enough of it to justify the price. I had the strawberry shortcake for dessert. It was a sweet biscuit with strawberry compote and whipped cream. It didn't look very impressive, but it was actually quite good and the best part of the meal. Again though, it didn't really seem worth the price. A lot of locals really like the place, and maybe I'll give it another try sometime, but I can't particularly recommend it. read more

We were visiting Port Angeles for a quick getaway and this was our breakfast spot! It turned out to be a great experience! This time it was food and more than that the cafe decor, the warmth of Shirley, Bobby and her team! The decor in the cafe is so cool, with car plates hanging at celing, a train track all over the cafe, collectible cars, exclusive item, football/ baseball helmets, a section of wall with bills( money) from all over the world and much more! We met Shirley and her sister Bobby running the cafe with her associates, they make a great team, everything was running smooth especially when they were absolutely full, greeting all the people coming in and being polite with everyone. Shirley was very active and making sure to interact with everyone with warmth! The food is great, and portion size is good! We were very impressed with them greeting everyone with their first name as they must be regulars and seemed like a close knit community! The restrooms- absolutely clean(never seen such clean restrooms!) Sharing some pictures of cafe and strongly recommend her to anyone visiting the town give them a visit! read more

Well, the ambiance is fabulous. The collections of license plates hanging from the ceiling, the old movie posters, the currency, the cookie jars, the train that goes around the ceiling from time to time. Its very cool and interesting. There must be a lot of great history here. That said the food was currently expensive and sub-par. My "three egg omelette", with double cheese and ham. Didn't have enough cheese, the ham was lean and dry and didn't have any eggs*. The egg mix* they used produced something a-kin to vinyl sheeting. Hardly any butter scraped across the toast. I asked for no hash browns, they didn't offer to sub anything, I ask, they avoided the answer. The coffee was vile, used dishwater would have been better, actually it could have been that now that I think about it. I would recommend the Fairmount restaurant of you are on the area and you want good food. The ambiance is not nearly as nice as shirleys, but the food and service totally make up for it. I hope Shirleys cafe fixes their food problem before they crash, I for one, will not be returning any time soon. read more

This is a hidden hot spot! I've been searching for a good Rueben in port Angeles and this place has it! Combined with their yummy onion rings and delicious homemade potato salad and you've got yourself a hidden gem.
