Great little spot for breakfast! The restaurant has a retro feel to it, and was very cozy. It is quite small inside (so small that the bathroom is not located in the restaurant, rather next door on the second floor). Service was wonderful; our waitress (who seemed to be managing the entire restaurant floor) was kind and attentive. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was a good size and very tasty. Would recommend!

What a quaint little place! The waitlist was a bit long when we got there but we didn't spend more than 30 minutes waiting. We got our drinks quickly and order taken promptly. The food was absolutely amazing and filling!

Good food, good service, big portions. The regular drip coffee is good also. This place is also recommended by our ABB host.

Cute and tiny local diner with a great atmosphere! Excellent service, freshly made delicious breakfast, and reasonably priced! DO NOT SKIP the cinnamon rolls!!!

We went on a weekend morning where the place was packed. It's a small restaurant anyway, so we got seated on the bar, observing the madness that comes with brunch rush. It was very fascinating to watch and experience. We ordered a hot chocolate and a classic plate of French toast. Everything was so good. We even got a coffee crumble cake and it was a great pairing with the hot chocolate. The place, although chaotic, had a nice warmth to it that we really appreciated.

Top notch "Breakfast all day" diner! Huge portions of delicious hot entrees, like Haven Veggies Brown and Eggs Benedict. Free substitution of a large cinnamon roll for toast! Service was super fast and friendly. Highly recommend to hungry visitors looking for a satisfying and delicious breakfast!

We were on our way home from Olympic National Park and decided to drop by Port Angeles to get some yummy food before continuing our long drive. The dining area in Haven is very small but charming. The dark green interior paint with rounded wood ceilings that make the space really inviting. We were seated quickly and placed an order with our friendly server. We ordered a biscuit, herb-roasted mushroom omelet with hash browns, and the daily special, shrimp and crab chowder. My favorite items were the savory biscuit and the hash browns. The biscuit was airy, soft, and buttery. It was sooo good with the whipped butter. While the hash browns were cooked to a crisp on top while the potato strands were cooked al dente; very yummy indeed! The only item I am not accustomed to is the chowder. It's not like the thick New England chowder I am used to, which is perfectly fine. I have tried many thin chowders in my life and liked them. This soup was delicious with chunks of crab and shrimp. However, the thick smell of fish sauce overwhelmed my senses and I couldn't escape it. Besides that, everything was really enjoyable. Overall, I love this small restaurant which serves really delicious food. Next time, I am going to get their biscuit (again) and the eggs Benedict with hash browns. Yes, that's what I am going to do.

Very petite bijou restaurant (was it a bar in a former life?) Food was very tasty and just the right portion sizing. Service was friendly. Recommend you give it a visit!

We don't get to Port Angeles very often but this place is always a great choice for breakfast. This was our second visit and it was just as good as the first, 9 years ago. Sign-in on the clipboard outside and be prepared to wait for your name to be called. Many tables are for 2 so bigger parties are more difficult. Bathrooms are down the block, up a long flight of stairs at the end of the building. Most of the omelets on the menu are in the $17 range but they come with a huge cinnamon bun drenched in a sweet topping. Portions are huge and my wife and I always split one. They will do it for you in the kitchen and bring out 2 plates. Service was great and the coffee is good.

I had lunch at First Street Haven with a friend today. It was the first time there for both of us. Our order was taken promptly, with just the right amount of time to peruse the menu. I got the Irish Breakfast, which was a special since St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow, and my friend got a salad. I love that you can get breakfast at lunch time there. My friend really liked her salad, and I thought the Irish breakfast was phenomenal. We got water refills at the perfect intervals, and our check came just as we were finishing. It's kind of tight quarters, but it wasn't too loud in there despite the fact that they were pretty busy.

This brunch place in Port Angeles is a good stop on the way to Olympic. My haven veggie browns were the perfect blend of creamy and crunchy, and I liked the ambiance though the service was a bit slow. The coffee cake was a bit mushy and dense, so I wouldn't recommend it.

They had to change the syrup for my soda, which took almost 15 minutes. When my soda arrived, it wasn't diet but the sugared version. No attempt made to fix this. When my meal arrived, the scramble ordered with egg whites only had bits of egg shell. I'm not sure how they got there, but it was I little like Russian Roulette as every third bit or so contained a tiny little egg shell piece. It was off putting. The potato hash accompanying the egg shell scramble was too greasy to have. Combine this food with a slightly combative server and you get a terrible and, in my case, unforgivable experience. Zero things went well and all of them went poorly. Breakfast for 2 was 60 bucks plus tip, and it's money I've invested in learning how much I do not care for Chestnut Cottage. 0/5, do not recommend

(balsamic vinegar goodness) Menu is somewhat small but they have a great Chicken sandwich that is perfection in crunch, best batter Ive had (since Oak in Seattle. I think it originally was the sister to Spruce but changed owners.?) The other star dish is pork schnitzel, tasty all around and I love the capers, the red cabbage side, it's not too big, so you can finish the meal. (which is perfect as I don't think it would carry well to reheat due to gravy) I can't forget to compliment the service. Our waiter checked on us often, gave suggestions when we asked, water always was refilled which we appreciated so much. Service is lost nowadays but not here! So come here for a small plate and specialty cocktails or craft beer night or a full meal. Me and a group of friends (8 total) were visiting the Olympic peninsula for a camping/backpacking weekend and stopped by Midtown on a busy Friday night and were quickly seated. The food tasted good and we had great service during our visit. Since we were a large group, and already had shared expenses for the weekend, when asked about the check we offered to put everything on one tab to save time. Later on that night however, after we had set up our tents at our campground, my partner began to experience intense stomach pains which turned into full blown food poisoning. I spent the next several hours helping them, before I also got sick. It was at this point we realized that it was from the chicken sandwich my partner had ordered at Midtown, since I had eaten her last remaining bites of the sandwich and this was the only food we shared that other members of our group had not also eaten (we all shared food at lunch earlier in the day). My partner and I essentially spent the night in the campground bathroom (we are extremely lucky they had one). The next morning we were feeling depleted, dehydrated, and decided to head home to recover while the rest of the group continued on the trip. We spent the rest of the weekend trying to get food down. I called Midtown the next business day and let them know what happened for their awareness mostly. They thanked me and told me their policy is a full refund if something like this happens and that the group should expect it soon. We didn't hear from them or get notification of a refund so we reached out a week later and they said they forgot and now the owner would only provide a refund for me and my partner's meals and that they never offered a full refund. They said since we had "12 people" on the ticket they wouldn't do it (our tab for 8 people was $186 before tax and tip) but if we had a doctor's note that could change things. I promised them we weren't making it all up and that I've never gotten food poisoning from a restaurant or even left a bad review before! Tired of the gas lighting I decided it wasn't worth arguing and let them know this will have to be my first. It's a shame their management is unprofessional because our experience in the restaurant with the food and staff was nice.
