Celebrated a birthday with close friends last night. The service was fantastic. We were seated upstairs by a window with really pleasant ambiance. Everyone enjoyed their meal favorites were the chicken Katsu, the Panko cod, the appetizers, including sushi rolls everything was presented beautifully. The flavor was spot on, super fresh and beautifully prepared.

If you're into delicious sushi, dining in old school mansions, or haunted experiences, you need to go to Shiro in Novi! The aesthetic here is beautiful and truly takes you back in time. It's rumored that it's haunted to this day by its original builder & owner, Charles Rogers, and many have reported experiences of paranormal activity! The service is professional and they'll ensure you enjoy a delicious meal while spending time at Shiro. I really like how they have so many different unique rolls; I've never seen anything like the Fatty roll, and you get a perfect bite of everything with the Angry Mikey roll! This is by far my favorite Surf & Turf roll I've had anywhere! The quality of the filet is top notch; and the Pinot Noir Horseradish Sauce is unbelievably good! You also HAVE to start with the Spicy Garlic Shishito Peppers; they're the best!

Incredible sushi, I come here every year on my birthday and every visit tops the last. The staff are so kind and I love the vibe of the restaurant. Sushi always looks beautiful

I came here last night for dinner and I'm gonna be so honest.... I was underwhelmed. The host was very kind. He did change our reservation time twice for us but that was the extent of my good experience here. Because of traffic, the friend meeting me was a little late so I sat alone for a little bit. I told our waitress that... she came back a little bit later saying "are you ready to order" .... My friend still hadn't come and I already told her that. The thing is, I understand forgetting so that's what I thought happened. But it became clear that her attitude was intentional. While I was sitting alone, I noticed an ant crawling on my table that I had to kill & I was seated next to some windows and there was subsequently a FLY that I also had to kill ("but you didn't have to kill it"... shut up yes I did) I also had a sushi menu that was already written on. I dont know weird. I understand the appeal of the old house converted into a nice restaurant but it still just smelled like old house and lowkey like rotting wood. The windows also were clean. I dont know it was just bad ambience until it got dark. NOW THE FOOD... The miso soup was my favorite thing on the menu. So that is saying something. My two rolls were underwhelming at best. The fish was chewy.. but a bad chewy. There was barely any fish. The cucumber kimchi was bad. The cucumbers were not good quality. It felt like they were old actually. At the end, our waitress was lowkey rushing us. I swear it was the most I had seen her all night. She set the bill down, would split it for us... she said she'd split it after we put our cards down... what does that mean??? So whatever, me and my friend just paid 50/50 on the bill. (Even tho the menu expressly said that they can't split bills for parties of more than 8). We were only two people. Whatever. Dont come here unless you're just interested in cute vibes.

I staff was very pleasant. I recommend a reservation we did not have one but the wait wasn't bad they had to make sure they were staffed accordingly for reservations first. The place is an old house if you like old homes and they try to keep a lot of the original floors, windows and walls. The food was so flavorful and fresh. The Chilean seabass had the most amazing miso cream sauce it went to so well with the seabass the roasted vegetables and the spinach rice. The sushi rolls were cut to bite si that you didn't stuff your mouth and again very fresh. The shishito peppers were okay very garlicky but not really spicy and they were very soft. The veggie gyoza were very good they were very light and crispy the dipping sauce was tasty. Very good atmosphere and service the food was wonderful.

The freshest and most delicious sushi I've had in Michigan so far. Not usually a fan of yellowtail but this restaurant changed my mind; it was so buttery, and of course, salmon sashimi is my favorite in general so I liked that the best. But honestly everything tasted of high quality it's hard to pick out what I liked the most . Would definitely visit again!

It was a night we both needed and Sushi was calling my name. I found this unique Sushi bar in a renovated old mansion in Novi. They have very limited seating so I would recommend reservations. We ordered a few appetizers, the Lobster Spring Rolls and Pork Dumplings. They were both very good. The spring rolls were served with mashed potatoes which I wasn't expecting! lol My friend doesn't eat raw fish so he ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and I had an entire roll of sushi all to myself!!!!! Can you say winning!!!! Of course we wanted Saki and my friend surprised me with a fancy bottle of Saki! It was delicious! Ashely was our server and she did a fantastic job recommending taking care of us. We had great food, a lot laughs and just enjoyed a random Wednesday night!

Amazing hidden gem! They have Rodney Strong for a house glass pour; they have delicious food for an amazing price and the service is impeccable! Cant wait to come back with my friends! Beautiful building!

The best sushi in Novi, MI. Rolls are unique, flavorful and high quality. Great prices for the amount of food. Got take out this time around but previously when dining in the service has been spectacular with a fun vibe. I highly recommend Shiro for dine in or take out :)

This place is the perfect place for a dinner. Started out with the amazing Fatty Roll- this is a must get! The miso chicken is such a creamy savory dish that has a unique spinach rice on the side. I loved every bite of it. The chicken katsu was crispy to perfection. They have a wide selection of drinks & were affordable. I got the raspberry cosmo and it was sweet & strong just how I liked it. The server was really nice and was attentive to all our requests. They even brought out a free birthday dessert. This place is a nice mansion and has such an amazing homey but fancy vibe. This is definitely one of my favorites in the Metro Detroit area!

Heard many good things about this restaurant, but it was okay experience at least for our visit. We had a big lunch with seven people on a Thursday. Service was very slow. Did not come to take orders, had to go find a server and once order was placed, the time it took to have our food out was another 30-40 minutes. Food was not as great as we all expected, but more of meeting expectations of any sushi places in the US of mid size cities.

Have been here a handful of times and always enjoy their sushi. Started off with the shiro salad which has a great ginger dressing. Had a lot of different sushi rolls but loved the red dragon and the salmon sunset. Gyoza is super yummy too. Place is super cool Inside and has an interesting haunted history

service and sushi rolls were both great! We came a few minutes after they opened at 4 for an early dinner and got sat right away. The dressing on the salad is delicious as well as the spicy garlic edamame! The veggie rolls were refreshing but the spicy mayo wasn't very spicy, almost tasted more sweet :/

The Filet I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING. This is NOT WHAT SHIRO GAVE ME. See next picture.

I found there are a lot more off menu stuff you can choose in the "food market" here in addition to what's on the digital menu. This is the upside of this location. As to the food from the menu, the freshness and quality of the seafood seem not as good, but overall, it meets my expectations for buffet style of food. For soup base: My husband chose Tom Yum and I had House Broth. Tom Yum is fine, but I won't choose House Broth again - too plain even for someone who likes mild. Service score: 4. You can't make reservations so I suggest you come earlier or later of usual dinner hour. In case of longer wait, stop by nearby TESO and do some shopping there. We were told about half an hour wait upon check in but the actual wait felt shorter. The table does turn around very fast. Our server is friendly and warm, but the people who clean tables seem a bit burnt out: the dishes were threw into piles and the sound of dish clashing are as loud as the music. Ambiance: 4.5 Nicely decorated with Asian themes and inviting warm lighting. It will be good if they can turn down a bit the sound of dish clashing! Overall: a trendy all-you-can-ear buffet! Nice to experience at least once if you like Asian food and Shabu Shabu. Come hungry, eat like no tomorrow!

The menu is strong but limited, which I kind of like- limits decision fatigue, especially after a long day. I ordered the nigiri combo, for the cause. Nigiri is something I've only really gotten into this year, so I'm not an expert, but I know what I like and what I don't. Soft, sticky rice that feels fresh and adhesive but not clumpy, fresh smelling and looking fish. The California roll was a California roll. The nigiri was great however. The shrimp in particular was light and almost creamy tasting? I know that sounds odd but I mean it in a good way. The rest of the fish was good. I even tried eel (this is big for me) for the cause! It was rich and fatty, but not in an unpleasant way as I feared. It was pleasantly sauced, so I was able to try it sans soy sauce and was pleased! I *really* liked the soy sauce here, although they don't give you very much. They also are a bit stingy with the ginger. This was my first time trying tamago, which is a delicately sweetened egg roll stuffed with rice. If you're not used to it, you have to get over the look and just go for it! It's yummy! The restroom was clean but smelled faintly of cigarettes. To be honest... I didn't mind that. It kind of fit with the vibe and gave the restaurant a "real" "edgy" feel, although some people may not appreciate it. The interior is kind of messy and unkempt, but if you keep your eyes on the prize- the food- you'll leave happy!

Having spent time exploring Japan and eating plenty of sushi there, this is probably the closest I've come in Michigan to recreating that experience. The focus is on traditional and straightforward: quality fish, careful preparation, and letting the ingredients speak for themselves rather than covering everything in sauces and toppings. The sushi and sashimi have been consistently excellent across my visits, and I especially appreciate that the menu goes well beyond the typical American sushi restaurant. There are plenty of traditional Japanese dishes and chef's-choice options, so it's a place where I'm always tempted to try something different. The atmosphere adds to the experience too. It has this intimate, neighborhood Japanese restaurant vibe that reminds me so much of stumbling upon a sushi spot in Kyoto. If you love traditional Japanese food and care more about quality and authenticity than elaborate specialty rolls, Sharaku is absolutely worth the trip. One of the best Japanese dining experiences I've found in Michigan, and a place I'll continue coming back to.

I'd probably go lower, if not for the friendly service. came here with my friend for his bday…read moredinner. Not sure how he became aware of this place, but here we were. AMBIANCE - the place seemed very cozy, with booths, a handful of tables and seating at the sushi bar. This place was JUMPING on a Tuesday. I'm actually glad I made reservations. Bunch of old Asian dudes working behind the sushi counter - place seemed legit. SERVICE - our server was very attentive and was helpful with recommendations. He was very patient as we had MANY questions about the menu, and what we should be getting. MENU - this place had a pretty extensive menu. The first page of the menu had their daily specials which seemed to be a pretty deep selection by itself. They had many of your standard Japanese fare, though their appetizer list seemed to be deeper than most. They also had a fair number of sushi combos, however, according to our server, those are all chef's choice, and said they tended to be more basic type rolls/fish. One thing that was unfortunate was that the sushi rolls did not have a description of what was included in them, so we had to get clarification on a few of the rolls we were interested in. FOOD - we decided to get a smattering of items. we started with the deep fried oysters, chicken karage, and some along with some fried scallops they had on special. The oysters were good, while the karage and scallops were just "ok." Good, but nothing to write home about. We also ordered a couple of rolls - we did the spider rolls (soft shell crab), a tempura shrimp roll, dragon roll, and two eel nigiri. The eel nigiri were excellent. The rolls while good.... left me wanting a bit. From the other reviews that I read, this place is good on quality, and less on the quality, and this was on full display with the rolls. Besides the nigiri, the rolls seemed light, especially our spider roll which was only 4 pieces (I dont think I've ever seen that before). Even the dragon roll seemed small. We probably could have just gotten more nigiri in lieu of dragon roll. OVERALL - while the food was good, for the price you pay, it does not seem worth it. Maybe if we had gotten more nigiri or chirashi, we could have appreciated it more, but this place was too far and too expensive for what it was. Maybe the lunch specials make it worth coming here, but this would not be anywhere on my list of places to go for sushi in the metro Detroit area. Celebrity Rating - Salt Bae
