I was looking for a spot in Plymouth to meet a friend for dinner. I generally look for happy hours but Ryuu popped up as a new sushi restaurant. Quick look at their website and I see Chef James! It's him! He's an amazing sushi chef that I miss dearly in my regular rotation, for geographic reason. I was so looking forward to having Chef's James' plates again and of course my Ocean's Twelve was outstanding. Wait until people see this place. It's small but elegant. Great spot for a date night and the prices are VERY reasonable. The quality is what is going to pack the reservation book. Very fresh and rich sashimi, perfectly seasoned rice that compliments the fish, not overpowers it. I was very excited to have the real wasabi on my plate too. Presentations are impressive. All in all an excellent new establishment for Plymouth. Wait until the word gets out about this spot. It's going to be hard to get into. Plenty of parking, Ryuu shares a lobby with Sidecar.

This was our first time here, and we loved it. Started with the lobster app, which was huge and delicious. We also had sake and a mixed drink, both good. We ordered two rolls and a sashimi plate and everything was huge and super fresh. We loved the experience and can't wait to go back with our friends. Note: they marked us as a no show on Open Table, which is annoying.

I went here last night with my husband and we really enjoyed it. We had soups and salads, gyoza, and a few different rolls and all were great. The salads were a lot bigger than we were expecting and super fresh and good. The bartenders were also waiting tables and did a great job doing literally everything. Ours was excited to tell us about a drink that he invented with Ube in it and was really good It was a nice atmosphere with red booth seats and dim light. We had reservations and I'd recommend them

While they are still in their soft opening, the staff is super knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations. The owner, Don, and tonight's server/bartender Leah were very welcoming and friendly, even letting me try a piece of a few different rolls. I ordered the Motor City Roll (shrimp tempura, asparagus, cream cheese, topped with steak and eel sauce) and The Highland (crab, avocado, topped with baked Scottish Salmon), and the veg gyoza. While I waited for my to-go order, I tried these rolls: Fire cracker Las vegas Motor City Crunchy dragon Pop star Tiger They were all excellent - legit SO GOOD - but I think my favorites were Motor City and Pop Star. I was eyeing their cocktail menu (HELLO Asian Pear Martini!) but didn't have a drink this time. This is a fabulous addition to DTP and sorry, not sorry, but I will be a regular!

Stopped by for some sushi and enjoyed it. The fish was delicious and tasted very fresh. The miso soup was good. The restaurant itself was nice and cool inside. The only minor thing I noticed was that a couple of pieces of rice were a little on the firm side, but it didn't take away from the great flavor. The service was friendly, but a little slow.

First time trying Ryuu after driving past it all the time, and honestly I was a little disappointed. First it was kind of confusing because we had to walk into sidecar and the hostess had menus for both Ryuu and Sidecar. So they share a lobby I guess. Not a big deal but was a bit confusing at first. The service was okay - our waitress didn't really check in on us too much, but I did see another waiter constantly talking and suggesting things to his table, so maybe that was just our luck. The sushi - honestly I've had better. I don't know, the rice was kinda hard in some bites which was super disappointing. Also, the rolls were kind of inconsistent. Some had more cream cheese than others, more sauce than others, more crunch than others, etc. It wasn't super busy either so I'm not sure if that's their usual way. Not sure if I would go again, maybe try it out one more time to check if it was just an off night or not, but overall I've definitely had better sushi especially for the price.

I really wanted to love this place because downtown Plymouth has been needing a really good sushi place for a while, but it did not live up to my standards. I understand that we visited during their soft opening and so they were smoothing out a lot of issues, but the service was very, very, very slow. We waited nearly an hour for our sushi, even though there were only a couple tables in there. They were also out of some items and do not do substitutions at all. we started off with dumplings in those came out cold. My other gripe with this restaurant is that a lot of of their rolls are very similar. I hope that they can improve in the future but they definitely need to fix some issues with service.

A variety of signature and specialty rolls, great options for everyone. Very chic decor, great date night restaurant. Service was top notch!

The ambience was lovely, though a bit on the loud side with tables set fairly close together. The food was flavorful, and the drinks were outstanding--but what truly stood out was the exceptional service! Our waiter was incredibly attentive, even crafting custom drinks based on our flavor preferences. He was quick, witty, and thoughtful throughout the evening. We'll definitely be coming back!

Weird vibe. Sushi was okay, but the rolls were loose/falling apart. My cocktail tasted like it could use A LOT of fine tuning.

I like the moderate and healthier portion of the plate. I found new modern American restaurants are gradually trending to a smaller sized dishes. Many desserts here seem to be instagram worthy and the cocktail here can be eye candies sometimes. Ambiance: Ambiance is one of the reasons make up to the 5 star rating of this place. This is one of the restaurants in Plymouth has the decor embracing modern upscale feel which is my cup of tea. The tree in the middle of room gives you an outdoor ambiance while enjoying the inside comfort. Service: Nothing stand out but the service is mostly prompt and well staffed. Final verdict: I've come here for three birthday celebrations, and previously they gave birthday person a free cake, a free Polaroid phot as souvenir and even a wine opening gift sets one time, but this year I got nothing! That's a disappointing downgrade, but overall, still a great spot to visit in downtown Plymouth for a meal, a drink or just a sweet!
