WARNING. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with a professional mover. If I could give ZERO STARS, I would. Honestly, I am still in shock. Seeing as how this company destroyed and damaged all of my late mother's heirloom wooden furniture, I find it comical they have the audacity to use this line in their mission statement: "By remembering not to cut corners, and by maintaining high moral and ethical standards, we believe that we operate each and every day in a way that makes our mothers proud of us each and every step of the way." After several in-depth FaceTime appointments with Steve, who claimed my mom's things would arrive in Florida safely, and without any mention whatsoever of a Full Value Protection Plan, Shleppers came to my NYC apartment and packed the place up. Whatever I didn't box myself, they charged me for crating. All the boxes they made were carelessly put together and did little to protect the finished wood and glass pieces, which I'd only just paid to have restored. Shleppers' team in Florida was no better. They forcefully shoved all of my belongings into the storage unit, dragging finished stained wood on concrete, crushing items into one another and further damaging the contents. Once all my belongings were unloaded from the storage unit and placed in the new home it became painfully evident that the scope of damage was much worse than I had originally thought. A brand new glass table top I had custom built was smashed in one corner, an irreplaceable walnut armoire completely covered in dings, gouges and scratches and the dining table and its leaf absolutely smashed and dragged. The customer service team was adequate in relaying my concerns, but management was cold and refused to take responsibility for the numerous incidents of poor and totally sub-standard care. In the end, they have offered me $450 to settle for the damages they caused to my things, which wouldn't even cover the cost to fix one of the items. The move with Shleppers from NYC to Florida cost me $8,000 and my things were 100% disrespected from start to finish. To say I'm upset and hurt that a company who prides itself on good ethics would irreparably damage my deceased mother's heirlooms is a huge understatement. I am imploring you: Do NOT use this company if you care about your belongings. And if you do, make sure you read the contract fully beforehand and be sure to purchase Full Value Protection. read more

I would like to preface this review by saying that I normally do not provide any feedback publicly, however, in this case I feel compelled to provide some feedback which may benefit others. My husband and I have moved no less than ten times both domestically and internationally over the past twenty years. This is the first time we have had multiple issues with a moving company. We chose Shleppers for our move from Manhattan to San Francisco in June 2022. Below are the issues we experienced with Shleppers: 1. Poor quality packing and handling - * At least four pieces of our furniture were not properly wrapped/protected with blankets, especially around the corners/edges and consequently severely damaged (I have attached some photos). * We had many paintings, which were not properly packed, which resulted in the frames being scraped and dented. * We had to remind the packers more than once to be careful with certain pieces which are fragile and irreplaceable. In one example - they did not bring enough lamp boxes but wanted us to trust them to take the items loose to the warehouse "where they would be packed properly." We had to insist that they somehow find a way to pack these items before loading into the truck. * We noticed that one large piece furniture when loaded into the truck did not have the corners/edges properly protected. They promised to rewrap it properly in the warehouse (which based on the damage visible on delivery never happened). 2. Lack of general care and consideration - * They did not provide any floor protection. * During the packing, despite being warned about the weight and difficulty of moving a specific heavy console base, the team leader Garcia managed to scratch our hardwood floor while trying to move it on his own and did not seem to care about what he had done. * On completing the packing out, they left behind all the empty tape rolls and their rubbish. * The same team leader splashed a pink colored drink on our window ledge and wall and left the messy stains behind without saying anything. I saw it with my own eyes. 3. Cost * Following their initial survey, they (Derek, our sales consultant) provided us with a binding lump sum price for the move. Unfortunately, on the day of the move, the team leader told me that the estimator had forgot to include six wardrobe boxes for my clothes, plus some "China boxes." These extra wardrobe and China boxes cost us an extra $2,100 which they demanded payment on the spot in full - this was approx. 20% above the original lump sum agreed price. * Buyer beware - they deliberately understated the cost and then on the day, after finishing the packing, they surprised us with this additional cost. At this time, we had no other options but to pay. 4. Final balance and delivery - * The packing and loading occurred on June 23, and their estimated delivery was between July 1 to July 16 with the final balance due on the FIRST day of the delivery window (which would have been July 1). * On June 28, we were told that our shipment would be delayed leaving NYC and not arrive in SF until after July 16. Since I was planning to be away for the summer and would not be able to take the delivery after July 18, I insisted that Shleppers deliver my shipment before July 18. In the meantime, they insisted I would still have to pay the remaining balance on July 1 - before my shipment was even re-loaded on the truck and made its way to California. Only after insisting that given the revised delivery window and the fact that our shipment would not even be re-loaded until July 4 or July 5 did they relent and delay the final charge until July 4th. 5. Final comments - * Many firms want 50% up front on packing with the balance due on delivery - Shleppers is not such a firm. * If using Shleppers be sure to take out third party insurance to cover any damage. * Our recommendation would be to consider other providers and avoid all the issues/challenges which we suffered. read more

BEWARE! DONT HIRE THIS COMPANY! This moving company is the absolute worse. First, if you're in Aventura Florida don't talk to their representative here! He lies and did nothing when the 2 movers that moved my mom ruined several pieces of furniture and knocked holes in walls. The two guys that moved my mother were the absolute worse. I called them for a simple move and when the furniture arrived to my moms new Assited living , it was scratched, dents in the wood, they knocked holes in her walls, ruined the door frame, broke off the corner of an antique dresser my mom had for 50 years and they could have cared less. I would not ever hire these people if you don't want your things destroyed. When I called their Aventura Florida representative he said he was so sorry and that customer service would call me. It's been almost three weeks and no call at all! Liars and thieves!!! I have texted there representative and all he says is he doesnt know why customer service hasn't called me. The 2 men that moved my mother from one Assited living to another were clowns! They were either stoned or drunk! I will be filing a small claim lawsuit this next week. Seriously, I've never seen any moving company so so much damage to a simple move ! Please pass this on no one else should have to have their furniture ruined by this shitty company! What's so sad is their representative here in Miami has just lied and lied to us that their customer service would be calling us. My mom is 84 years old and this upset her so badly. 1 word: FANTASTIC! And this is coming from a high-standard New Yorker who has not had great experiences with services in Miami. Our move was local within Miami. Having gone through 6 moves in 13 years (across continents, states, and local neighborhoods), I can say that I am definitely experienced in this process. Up until meeting Sharon, I had only gone from mediocre to horrific. (I can give you the "who not to use" list) He made an incredibly stressful process for me, seamless and calm. He ran his team like a General would lead his soldiers (in a good way), and taking part in the move as well. They were quick, did half of the packing for me, did not damage a thing (a first for me in all of my moving history), and even returned to move more boxes and furniture once we unpacked and had a better idea of where things needed to go. Ray, Matan, and the rest of the crew were respectful and packed everything beautifully. My quote was exactly what I paid, a price which was incredibly reasonable. My advice is to deal directly with Sharon when you call to make an appointment (he was also the one who did the estimate walk-through). Biggest scam on earth! Stay away! They gave me a price on the phone with my description of what needed to be done. I asked if someone needed to see everything before they gave me a price and they said no the price is guaranteed. I told them the packaging material they had listed was not enough and they said the movers would have more available in the truck. On the day of the move two days before I had to be out of the house the mover came in and said they didn't have enough packing material so they would start packing and get more material. They started packing what they could and they said they have to come back the next day and I had to pay twice as much as I had already agreed on. Having a time constraint I agreed. They came in the next day packed everything and took it to storage, Shleppers' storage. When I was ready to receive my goods I called them and they said that I had to pay more, even more. They had my belongings, I didn't have much of a choice to receive my good under any request. They delivered my goods and had damaged many of my belongings. Broken closet, broken statue, packing paper stuck to my artwork, holes in cushions, didn't even have a count of the boxes, etc. I tried calling, no answer. Emailed, no answer. Tried again and again calling and they would not even pick up my calls anymore. I ended up paying three times as much as I was supposed to and received damaged goods that could not be replaced. They take advantage of you knowing that a move is usually done when had to be done. Holding my good hostage to get more money out of me was the lowest blow. They should not be in business. read more

I researched several moving companies and chose Shleppers because they promised to be extra careful with our personal furnishings and did not see any bad reviews online. They were more expensive, but I thought this would be a quality move and it would be worth it. Unfortunately, they proved to be very rough with our items, broke many things, packed many things terribly, and broke a large tile in our Penthouse unit during the move. They promised to pay for the tile to be fixed, but when I submitted the claim, they came back with a low-ball offer. I explained to them the actual cost to repair the large tile, gave documentation, and they would not meet the cost. They continued to stall and offer low replacement costs for months. I gave them many, many chances to resolve the issue, but in the end, they wanted me to sign an agreement not to disclose the incident. I waited to write this review until after all of my efforts were exhausted and I have not been compensated for the broken tile, let alone any of my items. I do not recommend them whatsoever unless you want your things thrown into big boxes with abandon and without any care. When unpacking, you will discover heavier items thrown on top of other, more fragile items. Things will be bent, scratched, chipped, and covered in black sticky plastic that leaves a residue. I would have loved to give 4.5 stars but that wasn't an option. All went well except the final payment was taken out the 1st day of delivery date (2 week window) when I was under the impression that would be on the 1st day of the 3 day period when they call to let you know on way. The shipment came on time and driver was great, unloading meticulously into our garage. However upon unpacking, some of my suitcases and a box were wet. Of course, my clothes, lol. Looked liked rainwater, nothing but a few items were ruined and lots of cleaning. Not enough to go thru the headache of a claim. Shleppers were very responsive and offered me $75 resolution to help. SHLEPPERS LIED TO ME ABOUT MOVING MY DECEASED FATHER'S BELONGINGS I looked through the reviews and saw many people wrote that they were mislead about the price of their move. Fortunately I learned that Shleppers was dishonest with me before I had them move my belongings. However, what makes Shleppers' especially appalling is that they lied to me about a bereavement discount for moving my deceased father's belongings. I first called Shleppers around December 2018 and spoke to Robert. I explained to him my father passed away the previous week in Florida, and that I need to move his piano and some other belongings to New York. Robert told me that it would cost $2,000. I asked Robert if he could offer me a bereavement discount. He was not sure, so he put me on hold to consult with his supervisor. A few minutes later he returned and told me that he would be able to give me a $300 discount, bringing my total to $1,700. I was very appreciative, as money was very tight due to funeral related expenses. I told Robert that the piano is located in West Palm Beach, and I would call back with the exact address. I called Robert again two weeks later to ask him a question about insuring the piano during the piano. Following the call, he sent me a quote that showed the discounted price. In fact, the price was $1,650, which was $50 less then he told me originally. I thought it was very nice to receive the additional savings. Today, January 22, someone named Shannan emailed me to ask if I have updates regarding the move. I emailed her back with the exact address and also asked her about insurance. Shannan told me the price of the move is now $2,073. I explained to her that I had already spoken to Robert, and he offered me a rate of $1,700, and that the quote he sent me even showed up as $1,650. Shannan refused to honor the price that Robert gave me. I then received an email from Jonathan, who is a supervisor at Shleppers. Jonathan wrote in his email that I would not receive the $1,700 rate and that I would have to pay the higher rate. He apologized for the "misunderstanding." I explained to him that there was no misunderstanding; Robert clearly told me the move would cost $1,700. Nothing was misunderstood, and I even have Robert's quote in writing showing that the move would be $1,650. I told Jonathan via email that Robert even put me on hold to get authorization from his supervisor to offer the discount - so presumably Jonathan is the supervisor that authorized the discount in the first place! I asked Jonathan if there was another supervisor that Robert may have spoken to, and Jonathan never replied to that email. I also sent Jonathan a link to my father's online obituary so he could clearly see why I was granted a bereavement discount. Jonathan and Shleppers acted very unprofessionally towards me. They lied to me about the discount, calling it a "misunderstanding" even when I have a written quote from them showing the discount that Robert offered. This treatment is unacceptable towards any customer and is bad business practice for any company. What makes Shleppers treatment exponentially worse is that fact that my father had just passed away and I was relying on Shleppers to move some of his treasured belongings to my home in New York. The rep I dealt with, Eli, couldn't have been more awful with communication and making the arrangements for our move. He decided to send a VAN to pick up our things instead of a moving truck and then once we called to fix this he had no solution for me. Literally said only the owner can do anything and then the owner cane back and said they can't do anything but find another tuck for another day! They ended up sending a separate truck the next day and billed us for it. So we were billed 2 times for one way of our move. They held our things in storage and didn't revive them for over a week after we were promised and many things showed up damaged and dirty from being stored in their warehouse. Don't get me stated about the guys they sent to move our things, scary. They don't work with you at all, I've never dealt with worse customer service in my life. Hey everybody. I was helping my mother move from Miami to St. Petersburg recently. I researched many moving companies. They all have good reviews and bad reviews. It was such a hard process but Shleppers had more good reviews than bad and I had a good feeling so we reached out and had them come over for an in home estimate. We decided to go with them as our moving company because we liked them and the price was very competitive and fair, especially for such a long move. They showed up, ON TIME, and came prepared; they brought loads of boxed, wardrobe boxes, tape, pads, and dollies. One of the workers had called in sick at the last minute so the Branch Manager (Sharon) came to help. He helped Carlos and Ariella (who had come in from NY to do the move). They were GREAT. The were careful, they were friendly and helpful. And they were so patient. They did the load out in about 3 hours. They arrived in St. Petersburg on time and prepared once again. They moved everything in in about 3 hours. They never once complained or griped about the walk from the elevator or the amount of boxes or furniture of anything. We couldn't be happier with the work they did; the quantity or quality of the work. This company is the best one around. I wish they were closer to me, because I have to move soon and I don't want to use anyone else. If you need a moving company, and you are near a Shleppers, USE THEM. They are simply the best. Truly, for the time that they were moving my mother, they treated her like she was their mother. I am blessed to have found them. I just completed a difficult move from my home of 32 years. Shleppers made it as painless as possible. I received several estimates. Sharon of Shleppers moving was the most thorough and caring. He took his time to inventory everything. He added boxes and wardrobes, offered to help with pictures and fragile items. This is something others did not address. The price, although not the lowest offered, was fair and there were no hidden costs or add ons. This was not promised by the other movers. Carlos and his crew were on time and worked for 10 hours. They had a wonderful patient attitude and never once complained. It was hot out and they had to carry heavy furniture up a flight of stairs. They put everything where I asked and nothing was broken.
