Several months ago I had Lambo doors installed on a 2024' Corvette Convertible. The process was easy and quick. Tony recommended at the time that they could also install led lighting on the bottom side of the doors for better lighting and added highlight. The after effect was beautiful as you can see from the photos attached. Over the last couple weeks the doors stopped functioning smoothly so I called Shockwave this morning to see about realigning the hinges. Ten minutes later, I received a message back to bring the car back anytime before 6pm closing. I stopped in during lunch break unannounced today. Their service technician stopped his current project and immediately grabbed the correct tools and readjusted both doors. 15 minutes later I was back on the road - No Charge. Radio 1. Installed with their own antenna, because they could not figure out how to attach the factory radio - does not tune in anything 2. Radio is just sitting in the hole in the dash, not screwed in , snapped in anything, you can truly just pull the radio out yourself in about a minute 3. You hit bump and the radio totally resets, date, time, memory, all get's lost Exhaust system 1. Had to put on a new exhaust system that is so loud, wife wont drive, neighbor complains. Coutln't take the car out too late or it wakes their kid, so I took it someplace else and he show me how it wasn't installed correctly and he fixed it. Had another vehicle windows tinted there a few years back, windows are already rippling. Would not ever return or spend another dime there. In my opinion it's not worth the thousands spent there. Wanted to discuss upgrading entire sound system on two cars. Stood in shop (2 guys outside by cars). None ask if they could help nor did either of them question why I was there. Brought my 2008 Corvette to Shockwave for a radio upgrade and front &rear cameras. Took my car home in a rain storm so hard to mess with the radio. Later discovered that I had no radio reception, the radio only worked with the car running and the steering wheel controls didn't work. also found the power wire was wrapped around a fuse in the fuse block by the passengers feet area. After arguing with them for a month about why things didn't work, they said I needed a different module to run the steering wheel controls. Finally took it to another shop in Mokena to figure it all out. This is the diagnosis they gave me: No module was used for installation and factory amplifiers were removed to make audio work. No SWC and antenna power was not hooked up. Needed 6ch amp to correct audio quality and added interface to retain factory chimes, SWC and RAP power. Needed 90% rewire to make everything function without issues. $1900 to Shockwave and another $2900 to fix everything they wrecked, my car works. And the front facing camera is actually a rear facing camera so all images are backwards looking forward. You would think a professional shop would know that read more

Worst customer service ever ... . and I have known the owner ever since high school which was 23 years ago. I went in there looking for speakers for a vehicle and multiple toys. I delt with a sales person and not the owner Toni himself. . *1 I open the box and the decal from the speaker fell off and was floating around in the packaging scratching the speaker surface material. So spending $325 on the speakers I was kind of aggravated at this point. Anyways I looked past a little decal that was floating around in the box, I grab the other speaker that was fully intact and hooked it up because I was dying to hear what these (bad boys ). supposedly sounded like. Well needless to say I was not impressed at all nothing but distortion and the worst sounding speaker I've ever heard in my life .. my factory Harley Davidson fairing speakers sound better than the 6 1/2 inch $325 shockwave speaker. So I called a shockwave and explain to them how one speaker was damaged and when I hook them up I was not happy with the sound of this $325.00$ Speaker whatsoever , it has only been two days since I purchased these speakers , and asked them if I could exchange them out for a different speaker brand. like JL-Audio ... A Speaker that I know is good and I went in there to buy but they talked me into this one , clearly stating that the (SHOCKWAVE) are the way to go and way better than JL-audio. No way are the SHOCKWAVE SPEAKER LINE BETTER THAN JL-AUDIO......... Toni should sell these speakers at Walmart or AutoZone. If I was Tony I would be embarrassed to put my name on the speakers brand SHOCKWAVE... the receipt clearly states that there are no refunds. Only a in-store credit valid for 60 days. Well shockwave customs did not honor their own customer terms and conditions. I was told that there was no refunds on them because there is a lifetime warranty. Stay away from this place and run as fast as you can!!! Took my car here for them to install a new Apple car radio. Told me it would take a few hours and they ended up having it 4 days. The technician had no clue what he was doing and did a very sloppy job. They kept saying they were calling Kenwood support when in reality I think he was calling his buddy for advice because he could not figure out one thing he was doing. They gave me the wrong backup camera for my car when in reality it was a front end camera, super glued the wrong camera on the bumper, which would've immediately fallen off once I went through a car wash, cut wires they weren't supposed too, and did a horrible install job leaving wires behind the radio tangled up and thrown back into the dash. In the end, I just wanted to get my car back and get it out of there and I ended up bringing it to a reputable shop in Downers Grove and paid an extra $600 for them to correct their mistakes. The worst! I had my window tinted by AC and his band of goons. Brought in a new (under 500 miles) ford f150 platinum for tints. The windows were tinted twice by a employee that was clearly on drugs. They damaged my drivers door paint and cut the weather stripping. Try Abe's first. My wife tried taking the initiative to get my Windows tinted for father's day. Made an appointment to drop off the car the Friday before and Tony told her he would need 3 hours. We showed up 10 minutes after 5 and Tony was gone for the day and only left 1 person working. Then to top it off he quoted my wife $300 when I was quoted $250 in Feburary. Miscommunication or whatever it was, we are now 5 days later and he has not followed up with my wife to see what happened and why he didn't have my business. After receiving modifications to my 2019 Mercedes E 450, unfortunately, the instillation of the product I purchased was installed incorrectly. My brakes locked up on the interstate, my car had to be towed in to the Mercedes dealer. After the diagnosis was completed it was determined that the location in which they placed the transponder affected the braking system. The owner (Tony) had the opportunity to correct the situation, but instead, he refused to discuss the situation and was very rude, obnoxious, and unprofessional. After I informed him that I will not utilize his services, he had the audacity to say "good, don't come back." The cost was over $400 which I received zero dollars in compensation. I had tints done here on memorial day for 75$ i guess you get what you pay for they have been redone 3x and still have corners done like shit and tints are all scratched owner tells me we dont do refunds we will get it right but its not gonna be perfect you know. I have 2 receipts first showing the initial install, then showing that my 2014 Ford Escape had to be redone. I have witnessed high school kids working on my vehicles along with other vehicles in the shop. I actually knew several of them (the reason I went to the shop). They also told me about the corners being cut. Your subcontracted tinted could be doing it for 10 years and still not be great. There was only ONE employee that was helpful. Had 11 appointment for window tints. Was told it would take 45 minutes. I walked around Frankfort for an hour and a half. I returned to see my truck still sitting, untouched. No one bothered to call. Tony blamed it on his boys. Even though he is the boss. Bit of advice Tony, at the end of the day you are responsible. Communication is key. If you guys are busy, just call the costumer and say so. And certainly do not belittle your boys in front of a costumer. Bad business. read more

RIP OFF ARTISTS! NON-PROFESSIONAL We purchased sub woofers w/ amplifier last Christmas (2013). Non professional employees and long wait time to even speak with someone. A few months ago the system stopped working (2014). Brought the car in and they told us that the amplifier was "fried" and that we would need a new one. Our family friend (certified mechanic) took a look and it was a wire that had disconnected. Reconnected the wire and it is working fine. We have heard several of the same type of stories from several of our friends as well. Being told that they need a new amp or new system when it was actually something as simple as reconnecting a wire. It seems that Shockwave is intentionally trying to mislead and rip people off. Taking a look at the other reviews on here, it seems this company has their own employees write the positive reviews. I would seek out people who have ACUTALLY gone there before you decide to go there yourself. If you have a sub/amp problem - do yourself a favor and check your wires before you even go there. ~ After our experience there, we spoke to a few of our son's friends and learned that many of them have had problems here as well. i head the monee il area in yelp standards as a watcher of business's in how they treat customers. i needed a system up grade for my jeep 2008. they have a very decent place don't finish the job by a customer request i brought a whole unit from e-bay and needed a professional installer for my 2008 jeep limited. they kept my suv for more than five days still didn't finished the job i requested. by not putting in a power amp in , but they did putthe radio, gps and camera in. i paid for a half job now taken to another car audio shop to complete it after paying them 700.00 for the two hour job in most shops. i am a retiree handicap auto worker from ford motor company were it depend on you to do a full job. and retired audio engineer at dunmore music studio that has recordings i done in the studio on youtube. in the beginning i felt they would do a great job for me but the gentleman had me come back everyday as i need my handicap suv for a whole week and increasing the price each day.. it was a slap in the face after dealing with them playing in pricing the job as well. the first charge was 450.00 i was set for that but it kept going up higher as they promised me to finish my suv each day and another day to finish it at the end of it all i ended up without my power amp installed a total cost of 700.00. telling me it's a wire harness needed when you should have everything to do a job if you take it on with your customer a real true tech can make a wire harness to kept a customer trust in mind. as i did in many chicago large church installations myself over the years. i trusted them to do the right thing by me as a new customer and finish my total request as the tech told me i don't think your speakers can handle the power amp i am 71 love music to my listen degree not blow my speaker out but to enjoy my power amp in the sound system. as i have jbl and vega and ev's over years. remember i am not a teenager but a total professional sound engineer that needed my request filled to the tee my request which is part of a audio techs job. and not play price game with a great customer that been in music since 1971 from to 2021 with pacific stereo, gill custom house hifi, tech hifi, music craft,zzounds, guitar center, sweetwater, and with tascam m-3700 mixers and tascam m-3500, tascam da -88's, da38's in muil-trackal recordings. maybe next time they take people as clients and customers more serious about a job as the customer request the best in installations a true effort.ratings count in the music business that is a known fact. read more

Just had my new system installed here yesterday. It sounds great! The guys were very professional and knowledgable. I was worried about going to a new place, I always had the bigger stores install my stereo equipment.....I should have gone to shockwave years ago. To the original poster, no offense but it sounds like he is a little out of the loop. The speakers you bought sound like 1" tweeters. That's just one part of having a system. One typically has subs that provide the bass and an excellent head unit/tv that controls everything in between. I bought the 1" tweeters (Cadence) but swapped them out for the Shockwave brand which are the best speakers that I have ever heard and obviously outclasses anything that you will find in big box retailer. So the 2nd poster is wrong, Cadence is not the top of the line that they carry. They actually carry Shockwave brand speakers which sound excellent. Their prices are high but what do you expect from a custom shop in Frankfort? I don't hear about all the housewives complaining about the prices in the Trolley Barn... read more

Stay far, far away from this company. A shady owner, and a bunch of shady leeches hanging around the place. I bought a classic car about a year ago, and it still had a 30 year old stereo/speakers in it that no longer worked. Not wanting to take it to Best Buy, and being a 20 year Frankfort resident, I thought I would support the local business that would surely take better care of me than the big box would. Wrong!! I was initially pressured to purchase on the spot without doing any research on the major purchase I was about to make. I wanted to read reviews, check prices, etc. online. I did ask if I brought stuff in purchased elsewhere if they could install. Again, they appear to do a lot of custom work, and I thought it would be better for a classic car. So I went home and did my research and found their stereo prices to be quite a bit higher than Crutchfield or Abt. I was fully prepared to purchase from Shockwave if they had competitive prices, even paying a bit more than online. So I ended up buying online and bringing my gear in to get installed. I will give them credit, they did a great job with the deck. They had to cut out a piece of the console to fit it in, and it's snug. My issue is with the speakers. I bought some decent ones online and they ended up not fitting in my car. At that point, they pressured me to purchase the "super premium" brand they carry in-house, Cadence. They assured me the speakers sound fantastic and there's nothing to worry about. So I said fine, spending an extra $100 in the process. I was very up front with them the first time that I brought the car in that I had no intention of ever installing an am/subwoofer for bass. So they install their speakers and I go to pick it up. I immediately raised the issue with them that there is very little bass coming from my speakers. They tried to play it off that they could build an enclosure for it and that no aftermarket speakers have much bass. BS! Several calls/visits later, they tell me that they do not do any refunds or exchanges. My car was in the shop most of the winter, so I did not really get to listen to the system too much after the initial purchase. I've been driving a bit this summer with no bass and the only way to correct it will be to purchase new speakers. This is partly my fault for not jumping on it quickly enough with my credit card company. I am out the $300 on speakers and don't really see the opportunity to sell them used since they are a little known brand. I just want to warn everyone out there to stay away from this shady business. read more

I recently had new speakers installed in my Acura as the stock speakers "blew". They did a good job with the install, prices were good and the crew knew their job very well. I later took the car back for a radar installation and everything was just as smooth, prices were good and staff were great to work with. Took it back they said the reason the AC ducts and the Temp contoll settings move freely is because it was connected to the factory radio. This place is a complete rip-off... I purchased a Remote start with alarm, HID headlights, A 15" sub, box, and a Shockwave amp, along with having them install it all... After 2 days one headlight went out which I do understand it can happen but when I go back they tell me I have to pay the shipping for the headlight which they say is $25.00... I offered to ship it off on my own obviously at a much cheaper price but they said it wasnt allowed so I agreed to pay the $25.00 and move on no big deal... Fast forward 1 month later my amp kept making noises and would make the speaker sound like it was blown out... I take it to them and they check it all out and say if must have been getting hot so make sure the back seat is kept down... So Ok I do this... Within a couple weeks the Amp quits working all together so I take it back they look at it and say the switch is defective and it has to be sent back to the factory, So I said thats fine and there answer to me is I have to pay $150.00 shipping? WHAT? They claim they have a lifetime warrantey so that means every time something is wrong I'm stuck paying the shipping? I;ve had JL Audio equipment in my previous 2 cars and what a mistake I made by going to Shockwave in Frankfort... Recently had an appointment with shockwave customs, and was very disappointed. What I was told, was it was a two hour operation, and it turned into about 7 hours. Was not given a phone call when car was done, called the shop and no one would answer repeatedly, very poor customer service, and employees standing around talking about partying and being late for work. After the car was finished, no one explained my product to me. Had to return the next day because car parts were not installed back together properly. They even admitted to rushing when putting my car back together after the service was done. No thank you for coming in and no thanks for the business no nothing. Very rude and poorly managed. First, I agree with John M's description of "A shady owner, and a bunch of shady leeches hanging around the place." I went to Shockwave to see about haveing a keyless entry installed. The installer "technician" looked at the entry unit that I had purchased and the wire schematic for my car and said he could install it in 1 1/2 to 2 hours and it would cost $150.00. I said OK. 1 hour later he came to me and said he had to install two relays that would cost $20.00 and it would be another $50.00 labor. After expressing my displeasure about his missing his estimate by ~ 50%, with my car sitting there all apart and assuming installing the relays would make the job take him longer than he anticipated I reluctantly agreed. He finished the install in less than the two hours he had originally predicted yet charged me the extra $50.00 dollars for labor. If I had been told up front that they would charge me $220.00 to install a unit I supplied I would have at least gotten some more estimates.While I was waiting for my car to get done I spoke with their store sales person about a stereo system for my car just to kill time. The sales person showed me three radios, when I asked what the HD meant on the most expensive radio, just to hear what he would say, he told me it was "the resolution of the information and graphics" on the radio display window. I sh#t you not! Nice to know what they think about their customers and how they assume they're stupid, after hearing that I have serious doubts that the installer had to install any extra relays in my car and feel they cheated me out of at least the extra $50.00 labor.
