Great small business with reasonable prices and quality service. Wish they had evening hours.

Quality shoe care and repair can be found at Dr. Shoe in Worthington. Just a few miles north of…read moreInterstate 270, this is the place to bring finer Mens and ladies shoes for the attention needed to keep them in good shape for years to come. As evidenced in my photos, they do provide reselling services and corking services for Birkenstocks. This is a service that sometimes can be difficult to find, but they do a great job, and I was pleased with the work completed. I've had my Birkenstock sandals for years and, thanks to Dr. Shoe. they are a comfortable lifetime investment.

You walk in and the place is full of stuff; People's boots, purses, luggage, leather briefcases, leather jackets, and much much more. I had a simple problem. I needed a pair of boots stretched. I have large feet. Sasquatch like. I brought in my Ariats that have been sitting in my closet for 3 years now. The owner is behind a counter piled up with jobs he is working on and equipment he uses to do his craft. He is brusque. "$45. 2 weeks" I think at first "That's a lot to stretch some boots" I go back. He says, brusquely "If they are still tight tell me where, toes, ankles, shaft/calves? I will stretch again" I tell him that I am leaving for work and that I am a flight attendant and I won't be back in town for a month, can I try them when I get back and let him know? He looks at me and nods. I finally get home and try the boots they fit great. So in this crazy economy is $45 a lot of money? To me it is, but to pay a craftsman for a craft that will soon be hard to find, it is well worth it. Bottom Line: my expensive boots have finally made it out of the closet thanks to Dr. Shoe! Extra points for honesty - I went in the other day with a large cheap piece of luggage that had the zipper broken on an outer pocket. He said it will cost you double the cost of a new suitcase to repair that because it would have to be done all by hand and I would have to charge for my time. Thank you!

How do you mess with someone in the land of shoe repair?…read moreWell ... 1) You could put oversized heals on their boots to unbalance it. 2) Then say, it's "regulation," oh OK. 3) Then put black paint all over their leather soles. 4) Then hand them a boot with wet paint so their hand is blackened. 5) Then leave glue on upper portion of their boot. 6) Then, of course, serve the customer who came behind them first. 7) Then say you're securing heal with a nail but don't. 8) Then grind up their good heals, outer edge for max damage (my favorite). Perhaps there was a nail, in the side of sole so it now splits? Thank you so much.

I brought in a new pair of Vionic sandals to have altered. Darell said he would shorten 2 straps…read moreand my shoes would be ready in about 2 weeks. The whole process took close to two months. After not hearing back from him in a month, I called back to be told he hadn't started working on them. He asked to be given a few more days but they still were not started. After calling again a week or so later, I came in to pick up my sandals, ticket in hand, only to be told he had given my sandals to someone else. After 3 or 4 days the other person returned my sandals and when I came in to pick them up, I learned that only one of the 2 sets of straps were altered. I took them home only to find out sometime later that the back heel straps were cut and altered ( the wrong strap) and now, after not that much wear, I need to take them to another shoe repair because the stitching done by Darrll is all unraveling.
