We decided on Shogun as we wanted both sushi and hibachi. Sushi was good and tasted fresh. Hibachi cook was very entertaining and cooked our meal perfectly. The downsides were that the restaurant was very cold, so much so that we had to wear our coats during dinner! And the service was slow for our table and they were very slow to clear tables around us creating a messy dining room. I expect better for the price you pay. read more

I moved here a few years back and the price then was 8.95 for the hibachi chicken for lunch. fast forward three years and the price was 11.95. The covid hit and now its 16.95 but the portions are exactly the same. I mean I know the pandemic hit alot of restaurants but to increase the price this much just feels like a slap in the face. Lunch was great and service was good today. Had the Lunch Hibachi Steak and Chicken from the normal menu (not the grill show) today. Steak was perfectly cooked and everything else was spot on. This rating is for the manager not the food, the food is usually amazing. I'm out of town for work missing my sons 12th birthday, and he wanted to go to Shoguns in Bentonville, Arkansas so my wife took the family for a nice evening dinner. We have been to Shoguns numerous times and it's one of his favorite places. We have a small service dog who was wearing the proper service attire and had proper documentation. A worker wearing a mask was staring at her (the service dog) and she let out 4 barks, and was immediately corrected and stopped. The manager walked over and rudely told my family if it happened again they (all 6 of them) would have to leave. My wife apologized, and said she stopped her immediately and said she is a service dog and said something bothered her. My wife didn't mention it was him that was staring at her which was most likely what made our dog feel uneasy and bark. The manager tells my wife the dog isn't a service dog and he knows all about service dog. My wife explained to him she is registered and we have the documentation. She again told him she took immediate effective action which is what she is supposed to do. The manager rudely told her if it happened again they would have to leave the restaurant. While she was speaking to the manager, my wife moved her chair and our dog whimpered because the chair landed on her paw and my wife told him she hit her paw and the manager said "he didn't care, you need to handle it." I'm assuming he was acting in such a rude manner because he was dealing with women and children, maybe he was having a bad day. Our dog bark lasted mere seconds and didn't cause a prolonged disruption so his anger towards the situation is perplexing. One of the staff members apologized for their managers behavior and said he is a jerk. Regardless of the situation, you're in the service industry, dealing with issues is supposed to be done with some hospitality, some tact and diplomacy. I called the manager to get a better understanding of what occurred and he was just as rude to me "over the phone" which corroborated the disrespect the kids and family said he displayed towards them. I asked the manager about their policy on service dogs and how they handle issues, and he said they don't have one. I inquired about his knowledge on service dogs and he just says he knows about them and told me what my wife told me was wrong, he didn't say it wasn't a service dog. I guess my wife and the 5 others with her were all lying. I asked why he would make the statement to my wife that he knows about service dogs to her if they weren't having a discussion about it, he kind of stuttered around. His responses to me were fine, okay and that's not what I said. He never tried to apologize or make an unhappy customer happy, you know be a good steward of a business that isn't his. Since it was apparent the manager could care less and knows very little about conflict resolution, I told him I wanted to speak with his boss, he said fine. He first gave me the wrong name, and I inquired about his contact number, then he gave me another name which was kind of weird but regardless, he wouldn't give me his bosses contact information so I told him I would find it myself. In the end, life isn't always about the situation but about how we handle it. He ruined my sons birthday and clearly didn't care. Shoguns lost several long time customers tonight because of their manager. If you're the owner and you read this, please respond with an email and I will reach out to you. If not, I will try to obtain your information. Update: Spoke with the owner it's now it's easy to see why the manager treats customers and staff the way he does, the owner is the same. This review is for sushi only. The teppanyaki part of the restaurant seemed to be hopping and everyone looked to be having a good time. Unfortunately for the sushi, I don't think they know what they are doing. I ordered the sushi deluxe dinner and to my surprise, instead of getting a variety of nigiri, I got 3 tuna, 3 salmon, and 3 whitefish plus a roll. The reason for ordering sushi dinner is to try a variety not a lot of the same fish. To their credit, after complaining to the sushi chef, they did bring me another plate with the variety that I was originally looking for. Double unfortunately, lack of variety was not the worst part....it was the nigiri itself. The rice was not seasoned. For most sushi lovers, no further explanation is required. So instead of having flavorful, moist rice in each bite, I got a big ball of dry, tasteless rice. Came here for a date night a little over a week ago. I'm always a little nervous to eat at a sushi place that isn't near the ocean haha, but this place was good. WAIT: We came around 7:30pm on a Friday night and were seated right away at a table. It is a fairly large restaurant, so overall there is plenty of seating. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. FOOD: Here is what we ordered: *Miso Soup *Lychee Soda *Crunchy California Roll *Shogun Veggie Roll *Blue Point Roll *Yaki Soba with Chicken Overall, it was a very good meal. My favorite was the Blue Point Roll. It had some of my favorite food: filet mignon, asparagus, avocado, spicy crab, jalapeno, spicy mayo and eel sauce. So yummy! The lychee soda was fun because of the way they open it with the ball dropping. I wouldn't order it again though because it has HFCS and I try to avoid that in the food I eat. I was in the mood for some sushi on my trip to Bentonville, so I visited Shogun in spite of mixed reviews. I was seated at the bar and ordered a mango mai tai: and it was good. I ordered some salmon and mackerel sashimi and was informed that there were six pieces per order of sashimi. Since the nigiri had two pieces, I ordered that and just ate the fish. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, especially the mackerel which compares with some of the best I've had. I'm not a huge fan of cooked sushi rolls, but I still ordered Baked roll with Spicy crab, avocado, asparagus topped with seared filet mignon, jalapeños, spicy mayo and eel sauce. It was mouthwateringly awesome: the meat and the fish complemented each other very well. I was so impressed with this place that I visited it again the very next day. I had a sashimi platter and the Walmart roll. The sashimi was fresh, and the chef let me pick the fish. The roll was good, but not as good as the roll I had the day precious. What a show! We went here for dinner with my grandpa who was in town from Texas. There were 7 of us and they sat us immediately and we had to wait about 20+ minutes before our table was scheduled for the cook to come out, usually that would warrant a 4 Star review if everything else was perfect but they regained the 5th star when I was frustrated and I went up to the hostess counter and told her my 4 year old was going to drive me crazy if it was going to take much longer ( I know it's not her problem but waiting 20 minutes with a hungry toddler is not fun) and she was so nice and went and got my son some gold fish and a side of white rice for free!! And when you go above and beyond what you have to do, you get 5 stars from me. Customer service is so important and it's becoming a lost art. The food was delicious but very pricey! But for the price we ate on our food for 2 days after that because we had so much left over! The cook was awesome and seemed so serious but he was hilarious and we all enjoyed the show! Went here for my daughter's birthday, as we have for many years. I was sad to see how run down the facility has become... the carpet around the hibachi table was so sticky that my son's shoes are still making that tacky sound on our tile floor even after walking through the parking lot. So sticky that it pulled at my slip-on shoes as we figured out who would sit where. Nasty. The chairs and menus were peeling and the floor where the chefs stood needed a deep clean badly. BUT, the grill appeared clean, the service was adequate and the food was decent. Our hibachi chef was wonderful... I wish I would have caught his name... he's been there over ten years and was so kind to my daughter and her friends. There's more. When my food does finally get trotted up to the front desk, I stand up, expecting a reasonable amount of time to pass between seeing it and it being handed to me. Nope. This employee spills my soup, spews profanity, and proceeds to drop multiple items on the floor (sauces, cutlery) and place them into my bag. She's still cursing. This whole process takes minutes. I'm literally watching this girl with my mouth hanging open. Wow. Just wow. Everyone has bad days, this chick is roughing it. This is when the cluster of girls bursts out into laughter while staring at me and one of the girls goes, "I don't know *what* she's staring at." More laughter. Let me be resoundingly clear to all paying guests: I was staring at my spilled onion soup as it was being playfully wiped on another girl's shirt. I love how much time they appeared to have on their hands. It's not like a paying customer is waiting or anything. Who, me? Pfft. No big deal. If you can get past the mean girl squad at the front desk, they have great noodles and onion soup. Hopefully they didn't have to ring it out of some poor front desk girl's shirt to get it for you. I have been to Shoguns many times but it had been a while since I was there for the teppanyaki grill. My girlfriend had never been to Shoguns or anywhere for the grill experience. We were seated immediately and our drink orders taken. For the next 15 minutes we enjoyed our drinks, and enjoyed some light conversation with the rest of the people at our grill. Then the show began. The chef was well trained in his performance. As good as he was the thing that really stood out was the food. It was cooked perfectly and had flavors that are missing at other restaurants. I have to add one more thing... the service. Our waiter was always on hand to take away dishes, refill drinks and any other request we had. It was a totally enjoyable experience. So much so that we told my girlfriends son about it and that's where he wants to go next week for his birthday. read more

I've been here a few times and the food seems very consistent. Good, not great, but tremendous value versus the west coast! Seaweed salad, for instance, is offered up on a large side plate, not a saucer. What might run $15 in Seattle is $5 here. Sashimi was good, and I think deliveries are every other day. The locals at the bar, trying sushi, Wasabi, for the first time were absolutely hilarious. Worth the price of admission. read more

I was completely unaware that this place even existed until I accidentally drove into its parking lot while looking for a now-defunct Brazilian steakhouse. It's tucked back a bit on Walton Blvd. Shogun has really good and surprisingly cheap sushi (about the same price as every other sushi place in town). There's also a hibachi grill where they put on a great show, but I stuck to the raw stuff. It's a much larger restaurant, so you don't get the same hands-on feeling that you do at Kobe or the sushi place on Moberly, but it's damn good regardless. I think the sushi may have tasted slightly fresher here than at the previously mentioned places, although I've never had a bad experience at any of them. I'll definitely be back to Shogun. read more

I would normally give this place 3-4 stars but.... As I was driving down the road on a very hot August day, I was behind a trailer that was full of boxes marked keep frozen, raw seafood. I was behind them on the by-pass for about 20 minutes before they exited. I was not intentionally following them, they just happened to be going my way. All this being said, they pulled into and behind the shogun location in Bentonville. about an hour later I was visiting a friend who was staying at the Hilton Garden Inn next door and was shocked and appauled to see that same trailer with the same boxes sitting in direct sunlight. Reasonably this raw/frozen product sat un refridgerated for over 2 hours (at least) before it was unloaded. I will never eat here again and if for some reason I am forced to, I will order all my protiens fried or not at all. At least you think they could have covered these boxes(around 50 cases) with a tarp, or buy a van to block the direct sunlight and provide a/c to slow the thawing process. read more

Went the other night with some friends and the food was lovely as always, but our waiter was definitely something. The entire night he made our entire group uncomfortable with his behavior, spilling drinks on the party next to us, only to react by aggressively telling everyone to move to the other side of the grills and didn't one apologize for it. There was a time when I went here twice a week. I have a deep love for this restaurant. I'm a huge supporter and normally have an amazingly wonderful time. That being said, imagine my shock, when I have an experience so bad I have to write about it. I honestly feel a little betrayed by a restaurant I've come to love, that I support, that I bring my family to for every occasion. Last night I arranged a meet-up, from an online group of people, some I've never met. I'm not sure how many are actually going to come but I know I've told them I'll be there at the sushi bar. We were expecting anywhere from 10-15 people. The hostess wasn't accomodating. We had 7 people, found out three had already been seated in the back. We asked to be put at a table so we could add space if needed. This is and should be a reasonable request. Apparently not. But we got seated. I went to sit at the sushi bar because that's where I told people I would be. The sushi chef was rude, he made it clear my waitress would take my order at the table. I have to say I've avoided Sushi my entire life. I'm allergic to fish, shell fish and sea food. My daughter took me to sho guns the previous week, we sat at the sushi bar and she ordered some vegetable roll in soy paper and for the first time in my life I got to experience sushi, I was so excited to repeat the experience. The chef we had then was extraordinary and just amazing. He listened and helped her create something for me and I really wanted a repeat experience. He made it fun, not scary, and I wasn't afraid of dying from an extreme allergy. I'm sorry I made the assumption that was "normal". Now I understand that particular chef was just an amazing person who went out of his way and for that I am always going to be greatful. He let me create a memory with my daughter. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll get to experience that again, especially after my experience last night. So back to the table I go, we waited for a while to get attention from a waiter. When he came to the table and introduced himself he was pleasant and I thought, well this can still be a good experience. He seems like a great waiter. Then that went sideways, he got rude. One of the table wasn't sure what she wanted, he just started to walk away and made some rude comment about he could come back, it wasn't what he said, it was how he said it. I calmly told him I was ready if he wanted to start with me and give them time to figure out what they wanted. He said sure. I ordered what I always order, Sukiayki steak, yes it's on the kids menu, I also told him what I always tell the waitress, I'm aware it's on the kids menu and I'm happy to pay an adult price. It was on the adult menu for years, a couple of years ago they made it a "kids" thing, it's still the only thing I eat there. I don't care if they charge me $30 for it, I just want this particular Entree. I asked for two brown sauces, no white, and I thought we were good to go. I also ordered the sushi that we had had before, sweet Tea with lemon, and everything was fine, or so I thought. He finished getting everyone else's orders and moved on. They brought out the soup and salad, eventually, I got the sushi. So far so good. Everything looks good. Then it went bad. They brought out something that wasn't sukiyaki stead, it was beef tips, covered in sauce. That wasn't what I ordered. So I sent it back. They cut the tips into tiny pieces and brought the same dish back. Now I'm not sure if they think I am stupid, or if they think they don't know that I know exactly what I ordered and exactly what it should look and taste like, but that's what happened. It still didn't have the carrots, onions, or the Teriyaki. I took a bit of the meat, it wasn't even along the lines of the same cut of beef they would use normally. In short, they literally took the beef tips and cut them into tiny strips and just reserved the dish. So now I'm at plate two and before I even tasted the meat, had to tell them that yes I do in fact want the rest of the dish, like the carrots and onions that are traditionally served here with this dish. So twice I've had to say something, they bring the same plate back, tell me they will just bring out those veggies separately. Once again I tell them this isn't what I ordered. Finally, I just gave up and told them to take the plate back, I wasn't going to eat that, it wasn't what I ordered. No big scene, No big deal. UNTIL, the waiter started arguing with me until the waiter made a public scene and used the words "She's pissed off so now she's not going to eat". That's when I decided I was just done. One, I'm at a table of 10 with people I've invited into your restaurant, Two, I don't really know half of them. You've just embarrassed me, you've just treated me like an idiot that doesn't know the difference in cuts of meat, you've just treated me like a complete moron who doesn't know anything about a dish I've been eating at THIS establishment for DECADE. read more
