We started off with having reservations at 7pm for a birthday. Didn't get seated for 17-20 after 7pm. Then our cook didn't show up to work so we didn't get served till much later. The cook that took over was good and I felt bad cause he had to cover. Food was ok and the noodles didn't have any flavor. It probably would've been fine if we didn't have toddlers with us because we were there so long before our food came out, that one ended fell asleep and one didn't get to enjoy the show. Going to a place like this it's always going to be loud and busy, so just prepare yourself. It's organized chaos.

When I'm craving fried rice, this is the place to go. I came here with family and noticed it was quite quiet. I learned that music is no longer played. Usually each teppanyaki chef plays their own music, which I learned to deal with. But I actually enjoy the less chaotic background noise. I personally think it was a good move. The service was great. Chris was our chef and was very talented and engaging. Another great night at Shogun.

Our group of 9 were in Temecula to celebrate my wife's uncle Allen's 88th birthday. We're quite familiar with Shogun, having celebrated family get togethers on several occasions at their original Pasadena location in the past. So why only a 3 star rating from me? After probably a half dozen or more experiences with Teppanyaki grill restaurants, not really a fan of the food. More for show than anything else and a first time for uncle Allen. So that was good but things like our chef not providing much veggies for the rest of the remaining 7 of us, compared to the same amount given to her uncle and aunt was inexcusable. Especially seeing the amounts other same sized parties were receiving. Or the fact that my wife and I got the same bland chicken as others in our party requesting teriyaki, while we had orders of sesame with no sesame seeds or sauce provided. And finally getting the three sad birthday singers and drummer showing up to our table well after they had visited others. Some well after our group's birthday party had arrived. No need for me to visit another Shogun location in the future. My 3 star vote is being a bit generous. A big thank you to my wife's youngest brother Ken and his wife Natalie, for hosting and covering all expenses at Shogun. And later opening their home for the remaining birthday and Super Bowl celebrations!

Our experience at Shogun from start to finish was great. The place looked very nice, Shogun logo all of the place, decorations looked really nice. Clean bathroom, tables, plates etc. Our server was Tori she looked great with her Japanese uniform. Service was also great and even sang traditional Japanese birthday song with tambourine and her partner with drums. Took a family Polaroid picture in the end with a birthday cake that had a relighting magic candle. We had Chef Wes he did a great job entertaining us and cooked some yummy food. From our butter noodles, butter fried rice lots of butter hehe supper yummy tender calamari, juicy scallop. We had the prime rib, new york steak and seafood combo. Just dont ask him about the world cup because he will talk about the lakers lol. We got also got takoyaki, mai tai, half rolls. Afterwards Antonia the smiling lady cleaning up and setting the table for the next guest. Wes came back and gave my son the winding chick toy. Memorable 8th birthday. Thank you Chef Wes, Tori & Antonia have a nice day!

Always love going to Shogun. We frequently eat here. My go to is the Filet and Colossal shrimp. My last visit I chose the Wagyu Rib Eye and Colossal Shrimp. I also love the butter cake, it is a must. Enjoy the selection of Japanese beer and Saki. Sometimes it takes a while to get your drinks from the bar so make sure to get the bar orders in early. The show is always entertaining and they have a large selection of combinations.

Ask the Community - Shogun Restaurant

What time do the teppan tables start seating?

Is Shogun have weekdays lunch specials meal? Any idea what's kind of meal?

    Yes

How much in advance can we make a reservation? Planning for a graduation dinner in a couple weeks and want to make sure we lock in a time.

You can call however long in advance to make a reservation! The earlier the better, cause this place can get pretty busy during graduation times/holidays. Just include how many people will be in your party and whether you need any baby…

Anyone how to make reservations? they are not answering the phone

I suggest calling early like around 12nn-1pm right when they open.. Or right before they close around 8-8:30pm

    Open for dine in yet?

    Yes, have to make Reservations

Does anyone know if it's open for dine-in I'm calling to ask but no one answers?

    Is it Kid friendly?

    Yes!!!

What is the largest party size that can be accommodated at the grill?

Normally seating is for 8, but they can squeeze in 10 if needed. Or another option is to have 16 people and occupy both grills.

No ; there are pictures of menu on here though .

Perfect for anniversary dinner:…read more Omakase sushi is one of the most refined and memorable dining experiences you can have, especially if you appreciate attention to detail, freshness, and craftsmanship. From the moment you sit down, there's a clear sense that this is not just a meal--it's a curated journey guided entirely by the chef's expertise and intuition. What makes omakase stand out is the trust you place in the chef. Instead of choosing dishes yourself, you allow the chef to present a sequence of sushi that highlights the best ingredients available that day. This often results in a progression that feels intentional and balanced, starting with lighter, more delicate flavors and gradually moving toward richer, more complex pieces. Each bite is thoughtfully designed to showcase the natural qualities of the fish, the texture of the rice, and the subtle interplay of seasoning. The freshness of the ingredients is immediately noticeable. High-quality omakase typically features fish flown in from top markets, and you can taste the difference. The fish is clean, tender, and often melts in your mouth. The rice, which is just as important as the fish, is seasoned perfectly--slightly warm, lightly vinegared, and shaped with precision so it holds together without being dense. Another standout aspect is the craftsmanship. Watching the chef prepare each piece right in front of you adds a level of appreciation you don't get with standard dining. Every movement is deliberate, from slicing the fish to forming the rice to brushing on just the right amount of soy or adding a touch of wasabi. It becomes clear that years of training and discipline go into even the simplest-looking piece of sushi. Omakase also introduces you to varieties of fish and preparations you might never order on your own. This expands your palate and helps you discover new favorites. Seasonal ingredients often play a role, which keeps the experience dynamic and unique each time you go. Service is typically intimate and attentive, especially if you're seated at the counter. The chef may explain each piece, offer guidance on how to eat it, or adjust the pacing based on your preferences. This interaction adds a personal element that enhances the overall experience. While omakase can be more expensive than regular sushi, the value lies in the quality, skill, and overall experience. It's not just about eating--it's about enjoying a carefully orchestrated meal that reflects both tradition and creativity. Overall, omakase sushi delivers a level of quality and thoughtfulness that's hard to match. If you're looking for a dining experience that combines artistry, flavor, and a sense of occasion, omakase is absolutely worth it.

All of the servers were friendly, attentive, and quick to check in on us. We never had to flag anyone down or wait long for assistance. The menu offers a great variety of options, making it easy to find something for everyone. We ordered the Black Garlic Ramen, Shrimp Tempura Udon, Garlic Edamame, and a variety of rolls. Everything came out quickly, was fresh, and tasted great. The ramen and rolls were especially enjoyable, and there wasn't much left behind except for the broth. The only item that missed the mark for me was the Garlic Edamame. It was coated in quite a bit of sauce, which ended up overpowering the flavor of the edamame itself. I'd recommend ordering it with less sauce or asking for it on the lighter side if possible. Overall, the prices were reasonable, the food was good, and the service was attentive. If I'm back in the area, I'd definitely stop by again.

There's something honest about a new sushi spot finding its footing, and Toro Sushi leans into that simplicity in the best way. No gimmicks, no overreaching, just clean cuts of fish, thoughtfully plated, and priced like they actually want you to come back. The sashimi (even the "small") punches above its weight, fresh, clean, no nonsense. You taste the ocean, not the freezer. That's already half the battle won. The sleeper hit here is the bento box. It's the kind of meal that reminds you value still exists, generous without being sloppy, filling without feeling like a compromise. The kind of plate that earns repeat business. Come in around 5:30 and it's still catching its breath. By 6, though, the place finds its pulse, busy, lively, the kind of energy you want in a neighborhood spot that's clearly starting to click. Service was kind, and quick, food came out decent too. The tempura shrimp and veggies was crisp and not too oily. The room itself? Polished. Modern. Spotless. Someone cares, and it shows. But like any place finding its stride, there are gaps. The men's restroom is a one-person situation, and if you've got a kid, you're out of luck, no changing table in the men's room, us millennial dads are not afraid of a poppie diaper. Not a dealbreaker, but a miss in a family-heavy area. Still, Toro Sushi doesn't try to be the loudest spot in the room, it just quietly does enough things right to make you want to return.
