We came on a Sunday afternoon and only had to wait 15 minutes for the 2 of us to sit at a grill. The service was great and perfectly timed even though they were busy. As a former server I especially appreciated our server taking our dirty dishes and making us space for the next course and keeping our drinks full! The chef put on a really cool show and my filet and shrimp (lunch special with soup, rice, and veggies for less than $25) was perfection! We came to celebrate my mother's 83rd birthday. Our chef Harry was awesome! He was very funny and personable! I ordered an Alaskan roll to start and it was nice sized and tasted fresh. For dinner I had the filet mignon with colossal shrimp. My filet was perfectly cooked medium rare, however my shrimp was slightly over cooked. Our waitress unfortunately was not so good. She didn't offer us refills and we hardly saw her. We had to keep asking other waitresses for drinks. Overall dinner was good and reasonably priced. 100 for two orders of sushi, teriaki chicken and colossal shrimp, kids shrimp meal and filet mignon with colossal shrimp plus a coke. went to the bar and specifically ask the bartender to make my meal on the grille in the front. I specifically ask for the front because the grille in the back does not taste every well. no matter how many times I have came over the years the grille in the back is trash compared to the grille in the front. you can't communicate with the cook any extra seasoning and it always taste bland. so what does the bar tender do not listen and the food gets made in the back. so I leave my card ask to me checked out and I go to the bathroom. I come back see the bill open it see that there is no place for me to sign take my card and leave. when I'm leaving the parking lot I have the whole work force outside like i just stole their Christmas bonuses. I have to say something to them for them to tell me I didn't pay: I say my bad park my car and then pay. some bar back then wants to talk shiy like I ran out on the bill trash service all around. used to be VIP here this place went to hell. read more

We had a party of 9 and didn't know we had to make a reservation!!! They put us in the sushi area. We come to shogun for the teppan grill style but no Bc of covid they are only take reservations. It was my wife's 50th birthday took my family out seven of us and we were looking forward to this restaurant. The waitress we got her name she had tattoos on her arms was extremely kind and very good then he had to cook cuz it was Javier really great guy kept the action going the only problem is the food it was very Bland chicken it's not great tasting and the steak was like chewing gum very very very overpriced cannot believe that this place with these prices cannot get better food. We love this location. We've been going to these style restaurants for years and this one's food is a step above. The chiefs are great and add a lot of different jokes to the experience which keeps it fresh. Only improvement that could be made is some remodeling to the restaurant. Grand daughter's birthday, she chose Shogun. We had reservations, which is a must in a Teppan type restaurant. We were promptly seated, Alex our 'showman/chef' was entertaining and good at what he does. The kids were thoroughly entertained. Food quality was marginal. Calimari Steak was not fresh, very 'fishy', in the seafood option. I had big globs of fat in my rib eye steak. Great location near mall. Parking might be tight on a busy evening. Reservation requires on time arrival or surrender slot. A fun place. Chefs cook teppan style. Also sushi bar and regular restaurant tables. Sushi bar empty when we were there. Plenty of tables available. But the teppan was packed. Kinda noisy hard to have conversation across table. But still great fun. Methinks it's time to scrub better. read more

Food is delicious but the chef made the night. Gesfer was our chef tonight and he was hilarious, did awesome tricks, and made sure everyone was having a good time. We've been to teppanyaki before at multiple locations but Gesfer is definitely the best! We'll definitely be recommending him next time. read more

I used to be a loyal customer at Shogun, celebrating my daughter's birthday here every year. With the opening of Benihana's nearby, it feels like Shogun may have lost most of their skilled chefs and cut corners to boost profits. Zero entertainment value and the food was crap at our latest visit. Nearby tables looked to be having the same experience. Management was disinterested in our complaints. Won't come back. read more

I see mixed reviews for this place, but I really thought it was fantastic. I'm not sure what people expect when they visit a Tepanyaki restaurant, but it delivered on everything I expected. I do think they need to upgrade the air conditioning as it was pretty warm but it was a hot day and the heat coming from the table side cooking was around. Overall, great staff and food. This place is a true 5 star. We visited recently to celebrate a birthday with the family. We made reservations in advance and we showed up we were immediately seated. The place is clean and bright! Very fun atmosphere. Our drinks and soup came quickly. The waitress was very prompt. The chef then showed up and put on a great show. The food was delicious. And the portions were huge. Our chef was brand new and he didn't fully perform an entire routine because he was still in training. So he used out table as practice and he did a great job. I love getting the new person for some reason and being a part of the training process. Maybe because I know it's hard and everyone has to learn somewhere. Hhmmmm... the food is amazing, and the service is mostly great. However, I went there to celebrate a friends birthday on 3/2. We sat in the dinning room next to the bar and We ordered sushi and some drinks. The server named Michelle never came to check on us, so we had to ask another server for help and to inquire about our sushi. Finally after 45-50 minutes after our cooked food arrived is when the sushi got to the table and shortly after puff.. there comes Michelle. She asked about our food and we expressed our frustration on the lateness of the sushi.. and she had the audacity to ask what we wanted her to do about it. With complete attitude and disregard to customer service.. Michelle needs extensive training or motivation to find a new job!!. read more

Very weird experience. I ordered shrimp fried rice and they brought me chicken fried rice instead. When I brought it to their attention they took the dish back and pretended to remake it. They brought out the same dish of chicken fried rice but put 4 pieces of shrimp on top. When I brought it to their attention that there was still chicken in the rice they said that all of their rice comes with chicken in it. This was a complete lie and they were just trying to get out of remaking the rice. They showed no remorse for getting the order wrong and they really tried to convince me that all of the rice came with chicken instead of just admitting to their mistake and making the dish over. read more

I was excited to come here for my birthday but I was very disappointed. I hadnt been to one of these type of resturants(Benihanna) in a long time. We drove 45 miles; Let's cut to the chase: 1) The guy who cut the food was boring. He did't even keep my son's attention who has down syndrom and loves this kind of stuff. My aunt was more excited to look at the other guys having fun at his table. The best thing he could so was flip an egg shell on his head and make a pac man out of rice? 2) The food was expensive and not that great; It was as good as the $7 food I could get in the Cerritos Mall. I think the terryaki chicken from the Cerritos mall is better. He was probably recruited from one of those places; Total price around $260 for 9 people; He was also using his cell phone while waiting for the waiter to be found. 2) The waitier was awol. If you're work there and wondering who it was- it was the white girl. She kept disapearing and we kept having to ask people to find her! For a long time after he cooked the vegetables, we were waiting for the white rice so we could start eating. My soda ran out; My water ran out. We had to keep asking people to get her back to our table. If we didn't have 9 people then I would not have left a tip; 3) I keep thinking how we should of ate at the mall and spent the other $200 on the movies; This was just bad and disrespectiful. It was just a job for them. 4) The birthday song sucked. The family couldn't notify the waiter it was my birthday because she wasnt coming around; Once we finally caught her and she came by to sing happy birthday, my wife was so upset! I ordered shogun for pick up and they forgot one of my meals so I waited an additional 20 minutes so they can prep, then they gave me all my meals and not until I got home that i realized that they forgot all the sides on my son's meal.( birthday boy ) I called them and they wouldn't come drop off the missing sides and was told to call manager next day for refund. Manager gave me refund for the sides only, she should have given me a full refund. My son did eat the meat alone and it's not the same. It ruined his meal.
