First time at Shogun. Wasnt crowded at all on a Monday night but I have seen this place get pretty crowded. They offer standard dining or habachi on the other side. I ordered the vegetable dinner in teriyaki saice which comes with onion soup, salad (not pictured), 2 shrimp and your choice of steamed or fried rice. The food was delicious especially the spicy garlic edamame. I couldnt eat all of the main course but the veggies and soup were good. I did not care for the salad and I think it was the dressing plus not a huge fan of iceberg lettuce. They have an extensive sushi menu to choose from.

I ate here tonight and had hibachi which I always do. Everything was fresh, hot & tasty. I had the dinner combination chicken & shrimp with fried rice and extra fried rice because I did not want vegetables. The total was $41 with an unsweet iced tea. I only deducted a star because they threw out the tea before I could pay my bill. I had 1 refill of tea.

If you want someone to do something and they refuse, just Shogun and they'll do it. After all, this is America. Wait that's actually not cool. In parts of New York and Boston and the west coast this might get two stars because it's not cheap and it's not great, but this is Rosenberg Texas, and in a the town like Houston where there's not a lot of good sushi - if any - it's actually okay, so combining the good service with the decent product I have to give four stars.

As I entered I was greeted with a warm hello and seated immediately. You can sit at the large bar or to the left are booths and tables or to the right at teppanyaki tables (solid griddle cook surface). I opted for the teppanyaki tables. Not long after I was seated my server arrived for drink orders. She was very friendly and checked on the table often throughout the meal. Shortly after the drinks arrived she took lunch orders. Lunch prices are very reasonable and nice size portions. I ordered the lunch size teppanyaki scallops ($12.95) served with salad or soup, fried rice and grilled veggies (zucchini, carrots, broccoli and onions). I also ordered a Shaggy Dog Roll to go for dinner later that evening. It was amazing with Shrimp Tempura and Crab topped with Shogun's special sauce. The Chef's presentation was fun and entertaining. The Chef was very personable and interacted with the table. I always enjoy seeing first timers and children react to the knive skills, the egg roll, shrimp tails in the pocket and the always impressive onion volcano fire show. Our Chef was extremely talented and kept the table involved. My entire meal was wonderful, scallops cooked perfectly and way more food than I could finish. I needed a carryout box for the leftovers for dinner. Enjoyable show, great food, affordable lunch prices, good for groups and great service. Stop in for lunch or dinner.

I ordered three kinds of sashimi for $27 and I was expecting for $27 to be a lot more fish. Other places charge around $18-$19 for this amount of fish. The place is ridiculously charged and ridiculously expensive for the Quantity and quality of presentation.. Save your money and get sushi elsewhere

We all live close by so it was a perfect opportunity as we were planning our next outing. The food is always fresh and I really enjoy some of their unique appetizers you don't see on other AYCE sushi menus. I don't usually order hibachi or teriyaki, but they're actually really good here. Oh and I should also mention they make the katsu so good here, very crunchy and crispy. The quality of the fish is always absolutely amazing - the chefs cut a good fat piece whether it's nigiri or sashimi; the fish is so buttery and melts in your mouth. The fish-to-rice ratio is about 1:1.25 on the nigiri which is a little too much rice imo, but like I mentioned there is still a good amount of fish. If you really don't want rice at all I highly recommend going with the dinner menu instead (which also of course has a ton of other great options), but I believe you can ask for less rice (or that might just be for the rolls, don't quote me on that). The ambiance is very clean and cozy. They play a lot of good music as well and it's not loud at all. Service was not too slow and not too fast which gave a good amount of time to enjoy bites between orders. They also do loyalty reward points so you can earn a free meal! Just remember to mention or ask about the program BEFORE you pay, this is crucial or else you don't earn anything on the visit and they can't void the transaction!! I'll be back as usual and recommending this place to those who love sushi as much as I do. This is honestly such a hidden gem and probably one of the only good AYCE places in the southwest Houston area (like deeper southwest past Sugar Land).

Grab one of each if you're planning on ordering sushi/ sashimi related items. If you're wanting the non- sushi items, there's a menu next to it too and at the ordering counter that you'll see once you get past the first set of doors. Pretty much everything is self serve (after you order and pay of course) so napkins, utensils, water, soups are for your enjoyment! So my suggestion is to get a table (if you can) and then order at the counter but if it's too packed, togo is still an option. I came by myself on a Friday at 5pm and it was definitely bustling but not overcrowded. Tables were clean and there was enough space between each table/booth. Food came out pretty quickly too and I was able to go back and forth for miso soup at least two or three times. If I had to rank my favorite of the four items I ordered: 1. Smoked Salmon 2. Scallop Handrolls 3. Salmon 4. Oyakudon All were wonderful but the smoked salmon and scallop handrolls are the two pieces that I've been trying to search around Houston for what I think is the best. Not quite starstruck but definitely hit the spot. Final rating: I'd love to come back and try their other menu options when I'm in the area and craving quick casual bites

From first going when we started dating and now 3 kids later, we have kept the tradition of going for her birthday. Main reason being she gets a free birthday meal, and while the deal has changed a couple times over the years, I believe you currently get a $50 credit. We've gone exclusively to the Sugar Land location, and it's been very consistent in service and the food is always on point. Something about that butter that they use in their fried rice just leaves you wanting more. The cooks and servers are always friendly and enthusiastic. And while the show has gotten repetitive for me personally, my kiddos truly enjoy the spectacle when they go. I will say though, this last visit, Elvis was our server and he was attentive, professional, thoughtful, and showed a quality of wanting to learn more about different things, including customers. A young man who works hard and shows a desire to achieve financial independence is downright awesome and inspiring. While I will say although the food is good every time, it is pretty expensive and so we don't regularly come here. And it does take time with the hibachi. But for special occasions, it is definitely a memorable time. **I'm not sure if it is just a birthday thing, but you can ask for them to take and print out a picture for you, which comes with a paper Benihana frame!

Shortly after, the waiter came back and took our orders. The waiter was quick yet patient and very kind. He took all our orders and made some decent recommendations. Most of our party opted to get the chicken fried rice, with steak and chicken or just salmon. Our hibachi chef was very engaging. Both the kids and adults gave him their undivided attention. Our food was ready fairly quickly, which our table appreciated. The food, of course, was warm and fresh. Flavor wise, the food was okay. Overall, we had a memorable experience, Most importantly, my father enjoyed his time.

A must for us is the Toro Tartare with the Japanese milk bread. The bread completely elevates the dish. The Black Widow Roll is another favorite -- it always comes out warm with lightly fried soft shell crab, cream cheese, snow crab, eel, and avocado on top. The textures and flavors are so good together. Our girls love the simpler rolls that are packed with fish. Some family favorites are the Crunchy Dynamite Roll, Lady Gaga Roll, and the Tokyo Giant Roll -- all super fresh and flavorful. We do ask for the sauce on the side. We've also done hibachi here a couple of times, and it's always a great experience. The hibachi side is kept separate from the sushi restaurant, which makes it feel like two experiences in one.
