Volcano Roll (inside: shrimp tempura, imitation crab, toasted panko, top: spicy mayo, unagi sauce)

5/5 for Stockton, 4/5 overall. Ordered the 6pc Salmon Sashimi, Zippy Salmon Roll, Philly Roll and the Volcano Roll. The total was about $52 after taxes not including tip. The salmon sashimi was actually very fresh and decently priced! I'd recommend getting this. The Zippy Salmon Roll (inside: shrimp tempura, asparagus tempura, imitation crab, top: seared salmon, shrimp, sliced lemon, unagi sauce, spicy mayo, sriracha, tobiko) was my favorite roll because of the size of salmon on top. The Philly Roll (inside: smoked salmon, avocado and cream cheese) had a little bit too much cream cheese vs. the fish but it was still good. My date chose the Volcano Roll (inside: shrimp tempura, imitation crab, toasted panko, top: spicy mayo, unagi sauce) because he said he really liked it the last time he got it but it turned out he ended up liking it the least this time because of the other 2 rolls I chose! I would definitely pass on this roll, it's way too plain and doesn't have any fish. Good fish to rice ratio and prices aren't bad! It's also clean inside and they played good music when I was there. I'm definitely coming back.

Stop sleeping on Shogun! This is most a great family Japanese restaurant. The food is great weather you go raw or from the kitchen. It's not the dark, night club feeling ultra fancy place. This is the, celebrate your family member by having their bday dinner here type of place. I have been a customer of this shogun for years through all of the management changes. I have become quite attached to some owners where others have made me swear I'd never return. These guys have been here for 3 years now and they are like family. We've come in with a party of 2 and a party of over 20. We have celebrated birthdays and graduations and farewell parties. It's the place we take our out of town guests or come to enjoy a nice weekday meal. We love shogun. If you haven't, please give them a try!

Shogun has been a staple in Stockton for years, but my wife and I hadn't visited since it came under new ownership. To be honest, it's probably been over 10 years--back when we were still in high school! So yeah, it's been a minute. The new owners have definitely put in some work--updating the interior, giving it a modern touch, and just overall bringing a fresh vibe. Every time we come in, they're super friendly, accommodating, and always happy to pour a bottle of sake for my friends and me. My go-to order? The Cowboy Roll topped with seared scallops--packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. If I'm stopping by for lunch, a tall Sapporo is a must. If you're reading old reviews, do yourself a favor and give this place a fresh try. You might just find your new favorite sushi spot in Stockton. I know I have--and my friends would say the same.

We went to Shoguns for lunch. We got lucky we were the first ones there. It was my 2nd time being there. The owner made us the spicy salmon on the house and also brought out ice cream and mochi for us to sing happy birthday that was so sweet. It is a Cambodian owned restaurant I'm glad I went there. I will definitely be going back

I came in on a week day to have a me date lol. I had a bento box with chicken katsu and salmon sashimi and hot sake! I enjoyed my meal and service is excellent

Exceptional Dining Experience Shogun delivers outstanding food, impeccable service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Every dish is crafted with high-quality ingredients and rich flavors, ensuring a tasty meal. The staff is attentive, friendly, and truly enhances the experience. Whether for a casual outing or a special occasion, this restaurant never disappoints. Almost every Friday night dinner is proudly spent in this establishment. Highly recommended! Did I also mention it's very affordable??

I don't have to say too much about the food and the service and the ambience because Shogan is number one in my heart for Sushi. The tuna ceviche is always a dish to order when you're at Shogun.

Wanted sushi but didn't want to travel to lodi so decided to try sho gun. Good service and great sushi.

Shogun has the absolute BEST service. Every time I come, they really treat us like family. And somehow the food AND service gets better each time! We recently came back from a trip to Japan and really was craving sushi with all the fixings & sauces. It never disappoints! We ordered fresh oysters, grilled calamari, hot lips, house roll, and king's roll. All of it was soooo good. If you like spice, definitely order the house roll! I recommend this place to everyone! Can't wait to be back.

Food was good! Just too much sauce on the handroll so it made the cucumber very soggy and not crunchy anymore. Everything else was delicious. Service was okay...she never smiled but maybe she had a rough day. Didn't really check out the dine in area, but sounded quiet with a few tables in there. My best friend told me to try out this spot and I liked it so I'll probably be back.

Staff were really nice and attentive. Haven't been here since highschool but heard the owners changed and wanted to check it out. Everything was good especially the Stockton roll! The kids enjoyed it as well. definitely will be coming back .

Lipstick on the water cup. Thankfully I didn't drink from that side before realizing it!

We came here for dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was a little under 25% full so we were quickly seated. The rolls were good. I really enjoyed the UOP roll. Service was fairly attentive and they checked on us frequently. I had to ask for chopsticks and napkins since our table only had two settings and we were a group of three. It looked pretty clean inside, but I was unsettled to see lipstick on my water cup after I had already drank from it (luckily from the opposite end!) Coursing was a bit off. All but one roll was served in a reasonable time but the House Roll took a lot longer and that was what my husband ordered for dinner. I would consider returning but it didn't "wow" me.

So we came in last night around 7pm bc we were in the area and my son was craving sashimi. Sat down and ordered a bunch of rolls with some sashimi. The food was decent with the price. We've been at many sushi places from the bay to central valley and gotta be honest, the price and portion size here is unbeatable especially the sashimi pieces. They were sliced twice as thick as other places. Now everything was going well until we paid the bill and walked to our car. As we got in our car about to leave, a kitchen staff with apron came in the restroom and walked out without washing his hand. Then another one came in to the other stall, walked out, light a cigaret and smoke for a bit before got called in the kitchen again, of course wasn't washing his hand. Im not sure which station those two were working in the kitchen but Im sure as hell not coming back to eat my raw fish being handle by those hands.

I had my two oldest grandchildren with me and they are adventurous like their Grammy!!!! The three of us chose a dish and one additional which was the steamed pork buns. Our order was take by computer that is in your table. We ordered: Steamed pork buns, shrimp fried rice, orange chicken, and shrimp rice ramen noodle. I will start with the best dishes: I will give the steamed pork buns an AA rating. They were buttery soft and were not filled with pork that has a lot of fat. I don't like biting into my pork bun and bite into a lot of pork that is crunching in my mouth. I hate that!!! This bun is just a little sweet, but tasty. The orange chicken was presented very nicely with thin orange slices decorating the plate. The grandchildren & I really enjoyed this dish. The shrimp fried rice was served cold, but had plenty plump shrimp which surprised me. I am not a fan of peas & carrots but the grandchildren liked it. The shrimp ramen noodle was not a hit with the three of us. It probably would do better as a ramen soup, it lacked in taste big time, so in some broth with a little seasonings I am sure would make a big difference. The plus of this dish was it too had plenty plump shrimp. I don't come out to Trinity Parkway often and I don't know if I would try this place again. The restaurant is not big inside; a little tight. There are some tables for two and some for four. The biggest table is for six and is in the front. Customers were coming in picking up their orders as well as Door Dash & Uber Eats. Our four orders with drinks came up to $73.+

I can't complain about the service, while they may be busy pretty much every night (that I've been anyways), they are almost always attentive and do a good job keeping our cups filled. My allergies were KILLING ME but I still needed food nonetheless. Came in as soon as they opened, I was the first one in. Maybe it's just me, but I think when a restaurant opens, you should be ready, maybe not 100% but, at least to start orders. Anyways, it took me a bit to go over the menu and finally order. In that time the 2 people working the sushi counter were getting read still. In my mind, if you have a customer who had placed an order and there's 2 of you, the. 1 person should continue the prep and the other person should work on the order asap. It took a while to even get started on my order. When the food came out at first glance it looked pretty good. But I had already noticed that they had a pile of tempura shrimp in a container behind the bar. Meaning it's been cooked and just sitting out. Meaning when I took that first bite, as expected, the tempura shrimp was in fact soft and soggy. I order rolls with tempura shrimp because I love that crunchy texture contrast. The other roll with the tempura salmon on the other hand was much better with more freshly fried salmon so it had a better crunch. Not the tightest roll and 1 roll had too much rice overlap but it was fine. Because I'm not a sushi/sashimi purist, but more of a flavor combo guy, this place appeals to me from the standpoint of the rolls. I love flavor combinations with sauce as long as the roll isn't drenched. Overall, the flavors of the rolls were pretty decent but didn't pop. Was that my allergies keeping me from enjoying them as much? I'll have to come back and give them another shot. Side note Meta Glasses come in clutch when you don't have your phone for any reason. The server was very pleasant btw and checked on me frequently enough.
