So was this a me issue or a them issue? I'll have to come back and see. Came to Stockton to have my phone repaired. Came here to get sushi while I waited. My allergies were KILLING ME but I still needed food nonetheless. Came in as soon as they opened, I was the first one in. Maybe it's just me, but I think when a restaurant opens, you should be ready, maybe not 100% but, at least to start orders. Anyways, it took me a bit to go over the menu and finally order. In that time the 2 people working the sushi counter were getting read still. In my mind, if you have a customer who had placed an order and there's 2 of you, the. 1 person should continue the prep and the other person should work on the order asap. It took a while to even get started on my order. When the food came out at first glance it looked pretty good. But I had already noticed that they had a pile of tempura shrimp in a container behind the bar. Meaning it's been cooked and just sitting out. Meaning when I took that first bite, as expected, the tempura shrimp was in fact soft and soggy. I order rolls with tempura shrimp because I love that crunchy texture contrast. The other roll with the tempura salmon on the other hand was much better with more freshly fried salmon so it had a better crunch. Not the tightest roll and 1 roll had too much rice overlap but it was fine. Because I'm not a sushi/sashimi purist, but more of a flavor combo guy, this place appeals to me from the standpoint of the rolls. I love flavor combinations with sauce as long as the roll isn't drenched. Overall, the flavors of the rolls were pretty decent but didn't pop. Was that my allergies keeping me from enjoying them as much? I'll have to come back and give them another shot. Side note Meta Glasses come in clutch when you don't have your phone for any reason. We were warmly welcomed in and seated quick. The decoration is pretty and simple. They only have one bathroom. We were seated at the bar, it was nice to see our sushi made fresh in front of us. Shoutout to our waitress Ann!!! She's super sweet and took care of us so well. All the sushi we ordered tasted flavorful and fresh. You can tell that their seafood is fresh because it didn't have that fishy flavor or that rotten seafood texture that is bitter. Their water tastes refreshing as if they hiked to the highest most pure glaciers because it tasted so crisp and clean. Their sake was good too and their beer tower. The ramen broth was so rich and delicious, we cleaned our bowls and licked the inside. We enjoyed eating all the sushi rolls, they all tasted different and unique. We came to Sushi Hub around 5:30 pm and at first it was nice and quiet with just a couple of tables. I had a couple of Sapporo beers, and we started with appetizers such as the the chicken karaage and spicy edamame which was the favorite at our table!! I visited Sushi Hub for the first time on Friday, 2/2/24, around noon for lunch. Upon entrance, I immediately noticed the beautiful decorations inside the restaurant. The overall ambiance was inviting yet quiet and chill. I decided to order the Sunset Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Hamachi (Yellowtail) Hand Roll. All of the rolls were tasty from start to finish. The quality of the fish was greatly fresh as well. If I had to pick a favorite, I truly favored the Sunset Roll the most. I also liked how each roll was fairly priced. As far as the beverage, I got the Strawberry Banana smoothie. It was fruity and refreshing. The customer service was pleasant. The server was sweet, attentive, and helpful. At the end of the visit, I was able to check into Yelp and received a 15% discount on the entire bill. It knocked off $5 from the original bill. I was super pleased with that phenomenal deal. I tried it out since it's right next to the InShape Gym and was an easy walk. I was thoroughly impressed by the sushi and the quality of the fish and the sushi rolls. I only tried one roll and one appetizer which was the Salmon Skin roll and the Hamachi Carpaccio. My partner is on crutches so the host or the restaurant owner (I wasn't sure who he was; but he was very kind) waa nice enough to seat us at a four top. My partner and I are very indecisive, and she was very patient as we chose our selection off of the menu. We ordered the sashimi platter, which came out on a big boat, loved the presentation! It was really cute and to my surprise the sashimi was very fresh. The price was extremely affordable as well, and the sushi was such great quality. Big wow factor here. We also ordered a couple of rolls which were delicious and came out very quickly, as well as a couple bottles of hot sake which I believe were only seven dollars for the large bottles. If I remember correctly the menu also stated that on certain days they had specials on sake as well as sake bombs for a discounted price. We are definitely coming back for the specials!
