Found this place and we said why not...I had the chicken teriyaki, I'm basic I know lol, my wife had the katsu chicken, garlic edamame, and my daughter had a roll. I'm simple, but the chicken teriyaki was amazing...salad and rice were the perfect addition. My wife's katsu chicken was good, needed sauce but wasn't bad at all. We have come several times and have yet to be disappointed! My favorite La are Dante's Inferno and Dark Horse. I like that they come with a little side salad along with the sushi rolls. Service is better than most places, but you do have to ask for drink refills. We haven't figured out if that's because they don't anticipate guests needs for them or they expect guests to ask yet. Still working that one out. Prices used to seem too steep here but now that everywhere else is inflated, Raw has competitive pricing. Togo orders are great here as well! So came here during the weekend. My review may be a bit bias because the restaurant in modesto is my absolute favorite place to eat. So coming here for the first time I had compared the two establishments. Overall this place was good. Its in the middle of a shopping center so parking can vary based on the times that you go. The establishment is a decent size. Bar is small but has what's needed. The service was great. The young lady was able to provide recommendations and go over the menu. The food was good. The garlic edamame did not taste the same as the modesto location. Way more watery and a lot less creamy than modesto. I absolutely love the garlic edamame so this was a bit of a disappointment. This is one of my favourite places to eat Japanese food. The only thing I wish was different is I wish they had boxes. I enjoy having a combination of things and I can't enjoy that here because it would cost probably $50 for 1 person. The prices are pretty high. For example I had mixed tempura and a California roll and my lunch was around $28. I think maybe it was $24 but with a tip it was $28. It's a hip place to eat and the servers are very friendly. I love the food. It's very good quality. I would give it 5 stars but it's hard to do that since I can't see spending so much to enjoy something that only costs maybe $20 elsewhere and will include 3-4 different things. I look forward to the next time I treat myself to eat here. read more

I ordered 4/18/2025 and was promised my order within 15-20 which I received for pick up. They were punctual and kind with their service. There are two concerns that I found with RAW. 1. The restaurant is extremely dark, almost black I felt like I was eating in pitch black darkness. It wasn't dim lighting it was dark and most of the lights off. I don't know how they don't see this as a fall risk. This actually can create concern for elderly or those with eye impairments. 2. The sushi was presented well BUT it wasn't good because the raw sushi was hot(didn't seem food safe) and didn't taste fresh and had a mushy/spoiled/soft texture and the rolls were very small for about $22-$25 per roll. The area is okay between five below and other shopping stores, the service is nice, the lighting should be brighter and the sushi should be bigger and more fresh. All in all 3/5 read more

We were again looking for great food and dining experience leaving Sacramento Kings vs Warriors games and was kicking ourselves of not eating in Sac. with many, many choices! Ending up back here at Raw Stockton and remembered the Chef Dante experience! There were many different raw sashimi, sushi rolls, and other dishes on the menu to choose. I ordered the Dante appetizer and sushi roll and everything was very tasty and fresh. I am always pleased with the quality and quantity of the food here, begin so fresh and quality not compromised and neither is the service. Kianan was our primary server this evening and we had experience her services once before and was very pleased. She was very welcoming, quick with service and attentive, and guided us through our sushi experience with many recommendation and detail about each dish. The asparagus appetizer is to die for, since we were not able to make it to the Asparagus Festival. Presentation is always unique and tasted as good as it looked. Place is small and cozy with cramped table seating, next time we will chose to sit at the bar which is bit roomy. Parking is no problem because the restaurant is found in a strip mall. Hadn't been here in years. Probably 15 years. Back then, the place was excellent. I was in the area so I stopped in with a friend. The interior changed a little and the only thing I wasn't wild about was the fact there were a few more tables than there should have been. They definitely want to be able to see as many people as possible. The problem with that is the tables were too close together and wasn't as private as you would hope. The waitress was friendly and helpful and we ordered deep-fried oysters for an appetizer and decided to go with their big platter which came with assorted rolls and salad. We got the platter because I wanted to get their best. It was the most expensive thing on the menu. I paid over a $100 for lunch that day for 2. The oysters were good, but they were almost too big for being deep-fried. What do I mean? Usually fried oysters are on the smaller side and work well as a one bite appetizer. These oysters were big. They're more like a 2 to 3 bite appetizer and because they were big they were a little too juicy for me. When I eat a deep fried oyster, I like to eat the entire thing in one bite and have the correct proportion of batter and crunch to contrast the moisture of the oyster. they were seasoned well and fried well, but it was too juicy and not enough crunchy. Onto the platter - it was a huge platter that probably could've fed 4 to 6 people. I'm a big guy and I love to eat and so does my friend, and we were very excited to dig in. It looked delicious but it just fell flat. The teriyaki chicken it came with were smaller diced up pieces that were cut too small so it made it difficult to eat with chopsticks. The flavor was OK, but it was a little weird coming with the platter. The sushi wad just average, which was disappointing. Because 15 years ago, I would've swore they were the best sushi spot in Stockton. Needless to say, we barely touched the plate, for some reason we weren't that hungry that day, but if the sushi was better, we probably would've ate more. all in all, it is a nice place, with nice ambience and service, but the food has definitely taken a step back. It was to the point where I have no need to return. I brought the leftovers home and my sons wouldn't eat it saying it didn't taste good. It's not that the food was bad, but it just wasn't up to par with the other sushi spots that I normally frequent. 3 stars because the place is nice and service was excellent. read more

For my mom's birthday yesterday I decided to treat her out to lunch. We ended up having lunch at this spot since we were in the area. When we were outside it didn't look like this restaurant was open because you couldn't see inside but they had an open sign hanging on the window. The lighting inside is dim. For lunch we both ordered the same dish. We got the salmon teriyaki. Their take on this dish is different from other Japanese restaurants I have been too. The salmon teriyaki is served with mushrooms, onions and zucchini. The dish tasted really good. Portions here are huge and are good for two people to share. I love having an enjoyable meal from here and every now and again drinks. But the last two visited here from a CLEAN location aspect. Has ben a little disappointing. The floors are dirty, tables are not cleaned in a timely manner, adding to the dirty view of the floors. Restroom is a bit slick as well. The corner table that we were seated at still had used napkins on the ground and two tables around us were not cleaned until someone was about to be seated there. I visited on a Thursday evening around 7p with a friend of mine. There was plenty of seating available and they were playing great music along with the warriors game on the TV by the bar. Over the ambiance is good. They did have all of the shades down in the restaurant so there was no natural light. I'm assuming it was because of the heat. We did open a shade close to where we were sitting without an issue. We started with sparkling sake. I highly recommend the mixed berry flavor. My date decided to get sushi which he really enjoyed. I decided to try to teriyaki shrimp and rice. I am not sure what type of shrimp they use but I did not like it at all. I ended up not eating the shrimp and ordering a appetizer of salmon to have with my rice. The salmon was pretty bland but it did the job. After we finished the sake we decided to do another round and tried out the watermelon martini which was excellent. Overall I probably would no go for the food unless I was specifically getting sushi only. The drinks were awesome and the service was good. read more

They never disappoint me and I usually stick to the same stuff because it's soo damn good! I highly recommend the following: + Fried oysters.. bomb!! + Spicy Edamame + Beef wrapped asparagus (that ponzu sauce is bomb) + Salmon ceviche or tuna (preferably salmon for me cause I'm not a tuna fan) + BTS roll.. it is a must try and also one of their specialty rolls. I usually ask for spring mix too they'll charge extra for it and it sounds weird (salad with sushi roll) it's soo damn good! + Dante's inferno roll. It may look overwhelming but It's spicy and good. + Stephanie Roll it's simple smoked salmon. + Goodi Roll. There's spring mix on this one but there's also eel on top. Im not a big fan of eel so I'll hav him substitute it with something else (yes they'll charge extra) A downfall though if you're dining in is that you can expect a long wait for your food.
