Toyo sushi is quite literally the best sushi in stockton. i've been here multiple times now, and i honestly can't recommend toyo sushi enough. you absolutely cannot beat the prices for the quality you get. the staff is always the sweetest and makes you feel so welcome, and the restaurant is clean, peaceful, and has such a calm atmosphere. the sushi is incredibly fresh, the portions are generous, and unlike a lot of places, i actually leave feeling full and satisfied. if you're looking for amazing sushi without spending a fortune, this is definitely the place to go. i'll keep coming back! read more

Toyo Sushi is still serving fire meals! I had their Shioyaki with veggie tempura combination plate. It also came with Miso soup. I appreciate how they put extra wrapping around the miso soup to ensure it doesn't spill over. You can tell they really care about the quality of their food and customers. Their food is always flavorful. They get really busy around dinner, but are pretty quick during lunch. I usually call in to order. It's definitely worth a try :) read more

I am going to 100% give this place a 5 star. Walking in it's ticked in the corner of a strip mall off Morada Ln in Stockton Ca. Ambiance is clean and fresh looking with lots of tables to sit at. Service 100% 5 star from the warm greeting walking in till you left it was felt an appreciation for you coming in and dining with them. Food was outstanding! We started with the gyoza, 2 hand rolls and 3 rolls. I cannot narrow down a highlight because everything was that good! The size of the hand rolls were almost a meal in themselves. Toyo Sushi gets pretty busy, which makes sense since it's really the only nice sit-down restaurant in the plaza. They do have special rolls, but you have to ask for the special roll menu. I like to make poke at home, and I love that I can call in an order of wontons, which is a huge plus for me. The place is small, but definitely worth trying for a quick dinner. And make sure you dip your sushi in chili oil, so good. read more

I've been here a few times and the service is always great. The staff is so sweet and attentive! I ordered the salmon bento box with sashimi. The salmon was overcooked and not my favorite, but the sashimi tasted fresh so it was redeemed. The roles are quite large and have a lot going on! Lots of sauce and toppings. We ordered them with light rice so they fell apart a bit, but the flavor was good. We have been to many places; sushi was ok. The customer service is great, but what worries me is the waitress wearing gloves. As a nurse, infection control is very important. I saw the waitress rinsing a towel in a white bucket of water, but she did not change her gloves; she used the same gloves to fill drinks for customers. Please wash your hands and understand what is clean and what is dirty -- definitely some hand hygiene lessons are needed. Won't come back. read more

Checked out this place based on another review comparing it to M Sushi up in Lodi, and what a surprise...(SPOILER) TOYO IS NOT COMPARABLE TO M Sushi. I was overdressed but thankfully my wife wasn't as she wanted to be comfortable in the 100 degree day we tried Toyo out. So right off the bat, Toyo is NOT remotely in the same league as M (which is our 2nd favorite joint in the central valley). Toyo is in a very conveniently located strip right off the 99 which is nice. Interior is a well lit, spartan layout as if they moved into a former taqueria or some similar quick bite kinda place. We were immediately greeted and told to sit wherever we liked. I do like a fuss-free seating system so that was nice. Unfortunately, the A/C was either overloaded or in need of service (this could easily be a landlord situation so no big deal), but it was quite warm inside. Our server was great from beginning to end, friendly, attentive (without being intrusive), competent, and very respectful. Big Plus! Menu is very stripped down (and greasy...gross). Tons of rolls drenched in sauces(why people?), no nigiri list, no sashimi list, not what we look for in a prospective Sushi joint to frequent. Bathroom was run down but not so dirty I couldn't wash my hands (If you know, you know.) Ordered: Miso soup, above average Chirashi (a great way to sample multiple types of fish without getting stuffed on rice). Usually served with wakame seaweed, ginger, tobiko, toasted sesame, wasabi (both legit and the fake paste we're all used to), and various other treats depending on the place you frequent. All of this amazingness is served over a bed of shredded Daikon radish and Sushi rice, so you get to decide how much, at a great price. If you have not tried Chirashi, but are a fan of the "Mixed Nigiri Specials Assortments", give it a try. Unfortunately, after hyping up Chirashi, Toyo's is basic at best. They even included Saba (one of my favorites), but it's not standard as it's not a popular fish. I'd pass on this one. Ika Maruyaki, or Grilled squid is one of my favorite apps and a good benchmark for me. Toyo's squids are on the smaller side but well cooked with decent char. The only thing I didn't care for was the Sriracha-Mayo sauce. Don't get me wrong, I grew up on Sriracha, I buy it by the gallon :) But the best way, in my opinion, is a ponzu sauce for Ika. It's killer. The rest was a mix of nigiri sushi my Wife likes and the ones I like. Pretty standard, decent quality, but two of the items were above temperature. Having had some past experience, we still ate them to no detriment. Although I would let a server know of the situation so management is aware as seafood poisoning is no picnic :( All in all Toyo gets three stars with the service really being the standout. Well, that and they serve Orion beer! Orion is the Jam, if you have not tried it. Do so asap :) read more

Loved this place. Went for a Saturday late lunch and the service was quick. Ambiance was welcoming and they really made extra effort to make you comfortable. We ordered a Miso soup which was delicious and then California Rolls and Tempura Rolls. Everything was fresh and fast and very reasonably priced. Would also loved to mention that the people on the table next to ours forgot their sunglasses and the lady in charge ran after them to give it back. Been going here for years and the owner (I assume he is the owner lol) always greets us like old friends and is always so exuberant and happy it truly spreads joy. All the sushi is good. My favorite is Swan Lake and Crazy Monkey. But I also really like the Hawaii roll and crunch dragon. Honestly cant go wrong with any of the rolls. Very friendly and cozy place. Small plaza so parking can sometimes be difficult but ive always been lucky with parking. Overall, the best sushi place in Stockton. You know the food is good when you live in the Bay Area, but come here practically every weekend!! The owner and all the workers here are very friendly and attentive. I really love coming here! The prices are way more affordable compared to the Bay Area. Some places in the Bay Area charge $7 for just 2 pieces of salmon sashimi, which is pretty insane! The salmon sashimi, salmon maki, unagi nigiri,unagi maki, Boston roll, miso soup, and salad are my go to! I love the little tobiko eggs. They're like little popping boba, but savory haha. The rolls were very good but what was most notable was their size. The size of the rolls was like 2x the size of your average little roll. Amazing food. This is by far the best sushi restaurants ever. I've traveled to many different cities to try out their sushi. Nothing came close to Toyo Sushi. My favorite rolls would be Bay Bridge, Bonzai, Volcano, red dragon, and crazy monkey. Customer service is excellent. The owner always greeted me and offered water while I wait for my pick up. Friendly environment with a nice smile every time I go there. It makes you feel welcome that you want to go back again. The restroom is clean and hygiene.
