I went to Shoney`son Alcoa Hwy. today 6/9/2024 at about 4:15 pm. A small waiter about 100 pound soaking wet poundswith glasses asked if I wanted a table. I told her no and that I wanted to get two senior bars and take them out. She said I could not do that and I stated that I did this every Sunday. The service was horrible, I'm so sick of hearing, " well we have this big party back here" when in reality that BIG party wasn't even there when we were seated. I think they were just ticked off because we didn't get the breakfast bar. I ordered 2 eggs scrambled well, hash browns extra crispy, and sour dough toast dark. The only things right were the eggs. I sent the bread back and said I wanted it DARK and asked for hot sauce and after my food was cold she brought out Tabasco which isn't the same as hot sauce at all. Stopped in to this Shoneys today for a late lunch. Had Briana for server. She was awesome. Best server I have had in a long time at any restaurant. When I go to shoneys I always get the slim Jim and fries with brown gravy. The sandwich was larger than the last one I had. It was great. The food was hot and very tasty. My wife had the buffet. She enjoyed her selections. Briana anticipated my every need including a takeout class of tea. Will be back every time I come to Alcoa or Maryville. read more

I only give this place one star because the service was friendly & prompt. My daughter & I went here on a Saturday morning before my flight, as it's right across from the airport. Should have gone to Waffle House.. -Should have known from the very light crowd this particular Shoney's was NOT good -It's 7:15 in the morning & instead of a FULL breakfast bar, there is a FULL salad bar... At 7:15AM -Had the biscuits & gravy. Biscuits weren't bad, but the gravy was just awful. No consistency or taste. -You can tell a LOT about a place by the quality of their coffee. If their coffee had been semi good, I'd have given two stars -- but it was horrible. Tasted like recycled (and exceptionally weak) day old coffee.. I actually feel bad for the staff, as they are friendly & attentive. Spend your money elsewhere. No one wants salad for breakfast! read more

All you can eat southern buffet. Hell yea. This location is right outside the airport, so if you're flying in or out, leave room to stop here before you leave. Whoever sits next to you on the plane is going to hate you however. I had fried chicken (fried nice and hard), steak and gravy, mashed potatos, mac n cheese, green beans with fried onions, fried jalapenos and a big salad. There was much more to choose from but I learned my lesson last Thanksgiving (the Triple Turkey Day as I like to call it) about overeating. The place was great and super cheap. read more

This Shoney's experience is a reminder why I choose to eat steak elsewhere. There was a time when Shoney's was the place to go for a steak night. A simple spot for family to get together to save mom a night of cooking. This location is reminiscence of that time. A buffet with everything needed for an excellent salad and for the all you can eat person, hot meats and vegetables at a reasonable cost. About eight miles south on Alcoa highway, this spot is the place for locals after a long days work or a weekend treat. The best time for fresh food on the bar is lunch and the first hour or two of dinner. Otherwise, the recycled bar has that old stale taste as my dinner tonight. They claim to have no lemons for the water however, that probably would not have helped either. So get something carbonated or brewed. It is a clean restaurant with good lighting and the staff is mostly attentive to the customer during your visit. So, give it a chance when in the Alcoa/Knoxville TN area. Their breakfast is one of the best I have eatten anywhere. read more

This has to be the worst breakfast I've ever had! The buffet eggs are artificial and they taste like plastic with a weird texture. Horrible. The hash brown were stale and again no flavor just frozen hash brown warmed up in a microwave and tossed onto a metal bin. The ham oh lord a pound of salt and pure fat no real meat. I don't understand how people could look so eager to come eat here this is the worst of the worst. Don't spend your money or time BUFFET IS $10 per person not including beverage for FAKE FOOD all in all Mc Donald's has a 10star breakfast compared to this. read more

Much better than expected! Very nice service. Brought our kid goldfish crackers and they ate free! Turkey, fried chicken, stuffing, green beans and cornbread with apple butter were all delicious. Not greasy at all. Some fruit was fresh and delicious (cantaloupe, honeydew melon, kiwi). Peaches were canned, unfortunately. When I was a kid, the peaches at Shoney's were delicious. They told us the peaches were from wawona orchards, so my mom started ordering them frozen; shipped from Georgia to Chicago. I digress. Salad ingredients were also fresh. Not a food destination, but I'd definitely go back if on the road in the South again. Yummy and very inexpensive. Let go of your food snobbery and enjoy. read more

If you go other places outside of East Tennessee people will not even konw the name Shoney's. But in this area, this name is synonymous with buffet style food, much of which is very good and at a very reasonable price. Their fried squash and baked fish is way above the norm and they always have a great selection, I have always loved their buffet, and you even get a nice sot serve vanilla ice cream dessert to boot. Shoney's is the pinnacle of quality in the buffet world and this Shoney's location will not disappoint, they have good food and good customer service. Terrible absolutely terrible food! Go down the highway a little farther and eat at Applebee's or the Mexican restaurant. This establishment was very disappointing and did not live up to its name. The dinner buffet was quite tasty. I liked that they serve breakfast on it. The eggs, cottage potatoes, biscuits and gravy, French toast sticks were all surprisingly tasty. My mother-in-law likes this place. We normally come here for the buffet at least once while visiting. The food is good quality and the staff is friendly. We were there on Friday evening and had plenty of seafood choices. If you qualify be sure to ask for the senior discount. read more
