I had family in town for a special event and they were one of the few places that would accommodate our large party with reservations. We didn't need to given time of day and the day we needed.. it was not a peak time. The reservations were for my peace of mind and making sure staff didn't feel overwhelmed. The waitress was very good. Of course the one order that took too long to come out past everyone else was the one family member who likes to complain a lot. Our waitress quickly went back to check on it. The food was good. My out of town family loved it. My sandwich club was delicious but huge so I had leftovers. I don't want to bust on you guys, I really don't. You've been a great addition to the area. Your servers are great, atmosphere, everything. I have to be honest about the food. I suspect that early lunch customers are being fed leftovers from the previous day. I ordered ribs today that were nearly inedible. Dry and tough, and I was an 1100 am table. I don't know if this is common practice, might be. I couldn't eat the ribs, they were so overcooked and tough. If this is what you're doing, repurpose them into something that doesn't resemble a rack of ribs. I've had ribs in the evening from you that were incredible. The food is hit or miss here. We went on a Friday night (2/28) around 7. It wasn't super busy and we didn't have to wait.Unfortunately, the meal was tasteless. Our server, Morgan, was quite attentive throughout our meal. The restaurant is quite spacious and quiet during the lunch service. Nice to be able to carry on a conversation without shouting. My wife ordered the BBQ Ribs with a side of Spinach Maria. The ribs were absolutely delicious, luckily she ordered the full slab and didn't mind my poaching. I had the Southern Fried Catfish with the Spinach Maria. Both were very well done. This will surely be our go to spot in the future. read more

Extremely slow service on a night that did not seem unusually busy. Bread arrived without butter or honey. Finally had to flag down an alternate waitress. Salads arrived with our meals instead of prior. Steak somewhat bland, as well as the pork shop. Highly disappointed, considering the positive experiences I have had for years at all other locations. Food was cold. My sister ordered the rib dinner. It was cold, and overcooked. She had to get to work, so she ate it. I ordered the brisket sandwich with no bun, and tomatoes. I got cold brisket and spinach Maria. When we arrived we stood at the front host stand for a really long time. When we were sat our server walked by us twice before she even asked us what we wanted to drink. When she asked we told her we had our whole order since we have been sitting for so long. She was very personable with everyone around us but aloof and avoiding when dealing with us. When we flagged her down (avoiding us) to inform her my order was cold and wrong, my sister told her our food was cold. She said well you have eaten almost half so what can I do? We asked for the manager. I didn't even get a chance to say anything about my food. The manager came over and when my sister started to complain he said he could get her another order but "you have already eaten half." She said no she had to get to work. At this point I told him my brisket was cold and I received the wrong side. I had only had a few bites. When she returned with the check I asked her "Can you please let us know what made us a bad customer?" She said "I don't have time for this, I have 10 tables and I'M at work!" First of all we were all going to this restaurant after my fathers funeral. We made a reservation as there were initially about 15 of us. When we got to the restaurant they lied and stated we never made a reservation. I tried to show them the number in my phone where I had called and made the reservation. But they were rude beyond belief and just kept saying they had no reservation from us. Total lie. The restaurant was practically empty so we asked if we could be seated. They then stated they didn't have enough help to wait on us. After about 15 minutes of trying to get some understanding of why we couldn't be seated and waited on they said there extra staff would not be in until 400pm. It was 10 minutes of 400pm. We told them we would wait and we didn't mind the wait. In the meantime there were 3 or more staff standing around and we couldn't figure out why they could not begin to wait on us but we were patient and finally got seated. We were seated at 4-5 different tables. When the new staff got there and started waiting on us we told them since we were all seated at different tables they could just wait on us as different tables to make it more convenient. We had a little blond young lady waiting on us. You could tell she was not happy to have to do that. We ordered drinks mostly just water and tea. After some waiting the drinks were provided. Then 40 minutes later nothing. She simply disappeared. The table next to us already had their food and were asking for Togo boxes. The other table next to us hadn't ordered either. These tables were the ones with the blond headed young lady. We could not figure out what was happening. This was not acceptable. The table on the far end of us had their appetizers also. But us nothing. Like I said different waitresses. There was a young man of color who was great. He was not our waiter but was doing all he could to help everyone. Worst experience of our lives. After attending my father's funeral we had to deal with this behavior. We left and went to Aubrey's and ordered and had out food within 15 minutes. Excellent service at Aubrey's. Food delicious as always. So much more class and hospitality. I will never forget or return to Calhoun's again. Worst restaurant ever!!! read more

Two of us showed up around 3:30pm. We passed a couple of uncleaned booths before we were seated in a booth near the bar. We ordered half a rack of ribs and a side of mac and cheese. The other order was a burger and fries. Drinks were ordered and arrived soon after we placed the order. We waited quiet some time and were ready to leave when our orders finally arrived. For a place that claims they have the best ribs around is a gross exaggeration. They were over cooked and dry. I received a tiny bowl of Mac and cheese that clearly sat around before it was served. The burger and fries were average at best. Service was terrible. I asked for a extra napkin that never came. We thank this location for hosting us on Christmas Day dinner with a late reservation. They were clearly very busy and it did show but I'm willing to be patient for a place that lets me get away with a good meal I didn't have to cook on Christmas. Despite a 2 hour dining experience (which wasn't a problem for our group) and a VERY cold table (seriously the people in front of us had even tried covering the vents it was so frigid) I will say that the ambiance and the food won me over. I would like to return and sit in a warmer and different section of the restaurant next time and I do disagree that we should be charged $10 for "club sodas" we didn't order but overall our family enjoyed our time together and Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I highly recommend Calhoun chicken plate with Cole slaw and the Chinese chicken salad with the honey mustard dressing. read more

We visited the Maryville Calhouns on July 21 around 4:30 for dinner with family members: 2 who are disabled elderly, 2 children and 3 adults. We asked the hostess when we arrived for a TABLE to accommodate the disabled. She said she only had a half booth/half table available. This was not acceptable. We then asked for her to COMBINE the table and booths for our group. She left saying she would set it up. When we were brought back to the area it was a single table/booth. We explained this was not accommodating to our needs and to seat us somewhere else. The hostess was apathetic and stated again it was "ALL THEY HAD". We inquired about the large table to our right in the next room about 5 steps away that could easily seat 8. With an "care less" attitude she said it could not be used since there was no server for that table! IT WAS 5 STEPS AWAY! What happened to customer service, especially with 2 disabled persons in the group. We crammed into the table/booth area only to learn that food items we were wanting were not available. The server was good but the hostess needs some training in sensitivity and customer service. I doubt we will be back in the future! read more

We got in here ordered drinks and appetizers I got baked beans and corn bread the corn bread was kinda dry and not my favorite cause I got to say I AM A CORN BREAD LOVER and this wasn't my favorite but the baked beans were good the waitress was so nice her name is Amanda if u go to this place and u get her you are so LUCKY! She was so sweet and best personality made this food trip so much better! Now I have to say this I ordered grilled shrimp and it was a little OVER cooked But the ribs were actually really good and the smoked taste was amazing on that and the salad wasn't really good but the chicken on it was OK But the food was ok besides on the shrimp the over cooked it tasted good! read more

Im not a local in Knoxville but a quick visit took me to one of the local chain restaurants in town. This is a very casual place serving a usual American menu which includes a variety of burgers, sandwiches, etc. We ordered burgers this time. I would say the food quality is overall good, nothing too impressive but good enough to consider for a casual meal. The ambiance is nice and clean, a very sporty look with screens in most corners of the place and a good side bar. This is the classic spot to come for a beer and watch a football game! Pricing is affordable and the service is good. I recommended it for a quick and casual meeting. read more

A good place to have dinner but drinks are hit or miss. I guess it depends on who the bartender is that day. Food is good and I usually order the same few things. Sometimes it doesn't seem the cleanest, like food on the floor under tables and stuff. Their smoked meatloaf special is a huge portion and if you like meatloaf it's good. I got the grilled shrimp. What was sad is that it had absolutely no spices on it. What is the deal with food places in East Tennessee having no spices in food? It's an epidemic! I've been to their other spot on the River and had great ribs. Last night I went to Maryville location and had a really bad rack of ribs. They were as dried out and tough as you can get. I had a salad which was great, Cole slaw and bread were great, but horrible ribs. I didn't say anything to the server, I'm not that way, but maybe Imshould have. I didn't plan to eat here tonight, but the first two options I chose didn't work out, so this is where I ended up. I had read the reviews which I one of the reasons I wasn't initially drawn to it. The hostess explained that there was a 30 minute wait to be seated indoors or I could be seated immediately on the patio. The patio was just fine, and I was escorted outside where I was told I could have my choice of tables. There were 3 that needed to be bussed, one that had an ashtray on it, which left exactly one for me to choose, and I'm not sure it had been cleaned properly. I ordered a water and it was delivered promptly. I selected the prime rib special for Saturday night as my entree only to be told that they were out of prime rib because it was so late on Saturday evening (it was 8 p.m. which I thought was a reasonable supper hour). So I had the Smokehouse Trio instead with sides of beans and slaw. The food was good enough...the ribs were a little dry, but the pulled pork and the brisket were both very good as were the sides and the bread basket. But my water glass was never refreshed or refilled the entire meal. Overall, it was just an okay experience for me. I wouldn't make it a point to eat here again next time I am in town. read more
