Another of my missing reviews and photos. I'm not sure how that happens. I've been coming here for a while. It's close to my residence so I visit. You can shop without paying admission to the museum. It's a beautiful bright space. There's lots of variety to enjoy. The selection typically relates to the current exhibits. Today they have a lot of items from the Jazz Age. I love Art Deco. You can't avoid the Gift Shop. First they feed you as you enter through the cafe. Next past the cafe you enter the gift shop. If you keep going you'll get to the front desk to discuss admission. If there is another entrance I'm not familiar with it. Enjoy this lovely space and all the thoughtfully selected items they offer you. read more

The Shop at Cooper-Hewitt has an enormous selection of rare books, and products not found elsewhere in the US. The shop itself is beautiful and housed in Andrew Carnegie's former mansion. Everything in the shop is in glass cases which really highlight each individual object. With items priced from $1.00 to $1,000, there is something here for everyone... even those who already have everything. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The website is cool (cooperhewittshop.org) They also do not charge tax in the store, or online. This place is excellent. I recommend it to everyone in New York. read more

The Shop at Cooper-Hewitt deserves recognition. If you're looking for the perfect gift for a quirky, artsy friend or even a hard-to-shop-for hipster, you can find something unique here. Given the small space, there is a fairly vast selection of art and design books. There is also a myriad of jewelry, watches, notecards, and other small, wonderous objects. My personal favorite thing at the store is a travel-size, humidity-proof salt & pepper shaker by Swiss Army Supplies. When my best friend's birthday rolls around next year, I think that's what I'll get her -- for some reason, it's just totally up her alley. read more

The CWM shop has interesting books and nice looking jewelry (generally speaking, I'm not into the 'bling'), yadda, yadda, but they have so much more, most of which is a blend of "cool", "funky", "elegant" and "smart" within the general theme of adding form to function. For example, one item that caught my eye was a flash-drive embedded in a wooden branch with bark still intact. Oh, it wasn't done in that cheesy way like the branch bound pens/pencils either. It looked cool. Whoever designed that should hook up with Steve Jobs. Anyway, go explore their wares for yourself. Seemingly something for everyone. Don't waste your time. Unless you have a few hundred dollars to drop on items that are not that unique really. They even have quirkier items and artsier items, etc at the Design Shop at the Moma. Or try any of the artsy cool shops located all around the city - really - you can find much cooler items - and much more reasonably priced almost anywhere else. I mean - come on people - this is NYC... full of artists and interesting stores full of different items. Even if I was absolutely loaded I might have purchased two items - maybe. There really is not that much of a selection and I was not wowed by anything here. The musuem is kind of on the small side too - so if you continue on to the gift shop like you are still vieweing musuem items - it will make it seem bigger if nothing else. read more

Excellent collection of design books and a wide variety of gifts ranging from children's products to watches to quirky souvenirs. A bit pricy, but what design store isn't? I prefer the MOMA gift store, but there are definitely things at the Cooper-Hewitt shop that you wouldn't find at the MOMA. read more

I totally disagree with B. Samantha S. The shop is extraordinarily curated and shown. There are items availabe at all price points. Most of the stuff in the store you cannot find anywhere else. It is also seriously one of the best indie book stores around! I find their staff to be very helpful both in terms of service and offering hints about cool new things. I stop by when I'm in the neighborhood, especially since it's free to visit (you don't have to pay museum admission). In a way, it's always like a little exhibition itself. Oh, and they always have cool music on! And a great website! read more
