I come here often. This review is from a shopping experience today. The prepared food is always very good. Hit or miss with some of the sides but the meat does not disappoint. The staff behind the prepared food counter was very patient with my indecisiveness. However, the cashiers are very unfriendly. I was actually very surprised to see some reviews say friendly employees- I wonder who they are talking about. The cashier never said a word to us. Not a hello, not a thank you for shopping, and not even a you're welcome when I said thank you. It's very easy to spend $100 minimum here. Honestly, it's very off putting to not have someone say hello and thank you. Not sure I'll be back often.

This Tous Les Jours location is on Great Neck Road in Great Neck Plaza, conveniently located by the Great Neck LIRR. When you first enter the bakery, you can see the display of organized labelled pastries and bread. The lighting is warm and the bakery is welcoming. I grabbed a tray, tongs, and a piece of parchment paper to put on top of the tray while I browsed the array of choices. I chose a Portuguese Egg Tart, also known as Pastel De Nata. My husband and I shared a croquette, garlic sausage block, and he had the spicy sausage. The Pastel De Nata was so flaky and crisp. Once I took the first bite, you can hear the crunch and the filling of creamy egg custard was so good. The garlic sausage block was really good as well. It was the perfect ratio of dough and sausage. The spicy sausage had pieces of jalapeno and the sausage was very good. The croquette was thick, crispy, and had a really good filling. I also got the Honey Lavender Matcha Latte, it was refreshing and creamy. Inside, there is plenty of seating options from tables to countertop seats. All the pastries were very yummy and not overly greasy. Everything that I've tried at Tous Les Jours have been really light and airy and you can't go wrong.

But there's a reason there are always customers whenever they're open. The pastries and foods are so original and exciting to try. It seems like the pastries offered change daily or maybe weekly so there's always something new. And the pastries are so beautiful; it's tempting to try everything. The ube cookies are an absolute standout and I've returned for those again. I was excited for the shaved ice, which is available only in the summer. The toppings were amazing, and the ube ice cream was a must have. They offer the ice cream separately too and I highly recommend trying it. But the shaved ice was more like crushed ice to me, and it watered down the other toppings and wasn't super pleasant to chew. The other pastries we tried were amazing. I also grabbed a pack of the free used coffee grounds for my compost and to amend my garden soil. It's a great local gem and I think it's worth it to travel here to try this bakery even just once.

It was a perfect sweetness with the ube incorporated and I love the smaller size so we could try different flavors of cheesecake. The 10 of us demolishedddd all 3. The Fern and Aurora (strawberry matcha) was a nice pick me up! Strawberry compote definitely tasted fresh and homemade - matcha flavor itself wasn't anything to rave about but glad they put enough so it wasn't too milky.

For one, I think they strategically set up shops in areas far out in Queens that are not easily accessible or overrun by the masses--this can easily bring down a business' quality. We ordered a variety of things to try, including their range of char siu baos, like the pineapple bun, the snow crust, and the regular baked bun. Definitely a step up above what Mei Lai Wah is now, with the chunky cuts of meat, but way too sweet, even with the regular version. Highly suggest just sticking with the regular unless you're really curious about the pineapple or snow crust, which really just adds a layer of sugar. My mom spotted their sachima and quickly snatched one up. They sell a small selection of Southern Chinese and Hong Kong baked goods and pastries, but don't expect the variety of a Chinese bakery. Prices are a bit steep, and I don't know if it varies by location since this location is in a higher-cost area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here if I'm craving a good char siu bao - most Chinese bakeries do them well, just a matter of finding them. Most people who came in when we were there seem to buy them in boxes so either they're a hit at parties/events or some households really love them.
