Not their fan. I don't live in the area but I'm often here and make dinner so need groceries. I have repeatedly had to go to multiple different markets to obtain what I need for a recipe because it's not stocked in house. Usually it's something as basic as garlic. And somehow not a single clove in stock. A few weeks ago, I needed shrimp. Was late afternoon, nowhere near closing. No one was at the counter. Waited 10 minutes. Went to the next counter/bakery and asked them for assistance/find someone who could help. The man literally looked at me, mumbled, and went back to what he was doing which wasn't much. So I went back and waited for a little bit longer before going to the front. A manager told me to go back and wait longer since the person was likely on break. So I did, another 10 minutes. Nothing. Went to same manager again, they paged on the PA system. Waited another 10 minutes. Nothing. Finally went back to another employee who again just stared at me and did nothing. I just got back from this SS and had a really nice experience. I bought some muffins, seafood, meat and of course Sam Adams. Due to some minor issues, I had interactions with the associates from the bakery dept, meat dept, and even the customer service but everyone at this store was very understanding, patient and helpful. This store is large and clean, which I like. The prices are higher than other grocery stores, but I feel more comfortable coming here due to location. There is never anyone by the fish/meat department, and I always have to wait for an employee at the bakery to call someone over to help. This is a lot of time wasted for the customers. I see a lot of customers leaving after waiting a bit. I wonder how many sales are being lost because of this. It's bad enough that we have to check ourselves out as if we are employees working for free. read more

Stop and Shop, Orangeburg, NY is a well - stocked supermarket with a wide selection of the typical items you would find in an American supermarket: Produce, Deli, Meat Counter, Diary Section, Pantry Items, small selection of Toys, Outdoor Items, Closeouts, etc. Stop and Shop, Orangeburg, NY DOES NOT have a dedicated Fish / Seafood Counter, Pharmacy, Digital Printing, Catering, Asian, Hispanic, or Indian Food section (beyond some white - washed items), and it does not offer a Food Buffet, Whole - Foods Style, however it does have a small eat - in area. The clientele are suburban residents, mostly middle - aged or older, with some younger families peppered in. I have not seen "undesirable" customers (aggressive, dirty, snobbish, etc.) The staff can be helpful, but it's really hit or miss, depending on who you speak to. I have yet to see the same face twice, meaning in all my visits to Stop and Shop, Orangeburg, NY, I have never seen the same employee twice. Parking is via private lot, in front of the supermarket and can be described as easy. Employees do not ask if you need assistance to your vehicle. There are infant - holding shopping carts, toy car shopping cats, and standard carts. Stop and Shop offers a Rewards Program, where items are discounted if you provide your name and telephone number, and agree to enroll in their Rewards Program. I've seen savings - ounce per ounce - more competitive that BJs, Costco, or Walmart, but I wouldn't bank on savings in the cleaning or non - perishable section. All in all, a winner. read more

The store is clean and generally the staff is very nice my biggest complaint is that you really need to check every date on the products twice in the last month I bought items that had expired the latest was expired by a month both times the items were perishable and costly it's a real shame that you need to examine what they sell so you and your family don't get ill for the prices they charge they should offer safer foods I think in comparison shop rite has better value and for sure better quality meats such a shame that they have the potential for a better review but seems they just doNt care about their product or customers read more

On Sunday March 18th the lone deli counter worker sold me sub-par Stop & Shop roast beef, labeled it "Boars Head roast beef" and charged me Boars Head's premium price for it. If I could upload a pic of the discolored fatty roast beef he sold me I would. My attempts to return it was awkward. Store manager at the customer service counter was gruff and acted put out despite the obvious. No apology no explanation - issues me a store credit not even my money back ..for deceiving me? Lucky I did not send the slip-up direct to Boars Head provisions instead - that would have created some stir. read more

Time to petition someone new to take over this location!!!! hopefully a trader joes or a whole foods!! I used to enjoy coming here and I don't mind paying up for a supermarket like this. I even like the fact that it is never crowded but that certainly isn't the best thing, considering any business needs to make money. Here is the real problem and I have two years worth of examples for you. The staff here is poorly managed. Plain and simple whoever manages this particular location needs to be fired and replaced. The staff isn't at fault though there are bad apples in the group. Here is example number one. I was in just the other day and when I came up to the registers there was only one cashier available but he already had his closed lane sign up as he rang out the woman in front of me. When I asked if there was someone else he stated "no, but I guess I'll have to take you". What kind of response is that? Why is there no one else available at all? A few weeks ago I went in to get cold cuts because they carry boars head and I like boars head. When I get to the deli counter there is no customers except me. There are two employees behind the counter, one man who was clearly cleaning something and a woman who was clearly doing nothing. The man asked the woman if she could help me and she actually said "no" loud enough for me to hear it. In those few minutes additional customer arrived, they all had to wait while this one person, who was trying to help us, to finish. However, the woman was just relaxing. Maybe she was on break, but if she was then why couldn't she take a minute to help her fellow employee? If she wasn't on break how ridiculous were her antics? Here is an additional kicker to that story. There was an employee at the bakery and one at the butchers station just watching all this happen. They didn't have a single customer near them. Here is another common occurrence, they are understaffed. I don't usually answer rhetorical questions but here is the short answer...lack of training, lack of caring, and a very poorly groomed management staff. I hope you read this and make adjustments because on my next bad experience this review will find its way to your corporate headquarters and the office of your president or maybe one to each member of your board of directors. Downgrading my earlier 3 star to 2 because of questionable business practices. In the produce department is a large display proclaiming FARM FRESH PRODUCE FROM LOCAL SUPPLIERS. There were several baskets underneath with various vegetables including some "too perfect" tomatoes. Each tomato bore a sticker that indicated the source of the "Local Supplier" was MEXICO. This location is much newer than the one I go to in Emerson, and for some reason I always forget it's there. This is probably due to the fact I'm a creature of habit and never think of food shopping when I'm going to Lowe's. On the day before a holiday weekend the place wasn't crowded at all, which I thought could go one way or another. It's layout is pretty similar to the one I frequent and I didn't have any problems finding things. As a matter of fact I think that this location offers a lot more than Emerson. read more

Poor horrible customer service, which is a huge reflection on management. Who trains these kids how to bag?! It's ridiculous how EVERY time I come, my bread is in the same bag as my laundry detergent ? Why are my grapes and apples in the same bag as my bathroom cleaners? Is it lack of training or common sense? I can't place all the blame on the workers, this is all on management because it is a common occurrence. One cashier answered her cell phone while she was checking me out...wow!!! Only reason they are getting two stars because the store is clean and kept up well. Quick, courteous, and knowledgeable staff here. I definitely prefer coming here more than shoprite, and i also prefer going to the human cashiers rather than the automatic self-checkouts. This location is very convenient and the registers and bottle return machines always work here! Everything breaks down at most other stores i've been to. read more

The deli is abysmal. One person cutting meat on the weekend is unacceptable. They have the kiosk but constantly have it covered over so that you can't use it. Obviously you should be able to use the kiosk to place your order and continue shopping. The precut meats were cut a week ago. read more

Is it as nice as a Kroger or Harris Teeter? Not at all. But this is NY-NJ so most people are used to everything being run down, old, and disgusting. That being said, this is one of the few clean and quiet grocery stores in the area. Prices are a tad higher but its worth it to not spend 15 mins at the checkout line like every grocery store in Northern NJ. read more

Meh... its ok... i like their variety of foods and the fact they have a good section for people with food alergies like gluten intolerance etc... what i dislike is they never have enough check out isles open even though they have about a dozen stations... At any given time only 2 will be open so youre stuck waiting on lines unnecessarily...also ive gotten some out of date products before...so they need to get on the ball with that...i know they are still a new establishment but they need to work the kinks out now.... read more

I used to go to this store on a regular basis. The scan and go makes it a million times easier (especially with 3 kids) but it rarely works. The miserable girl who usually works the self check out (sorry to say but the kinda chubby one) NEVER SMILES!!!! She always has resting itch face and makes you feel like shes annoyed by everyone...god forbid if you get an audit, she looks pissed off the whole time and makes you feel like a criminal. I always have to check the dates on everything as well. The stockers never seem to put the new stuff in the back. I've gone multiple times and the celery and salad has expired. If you ask someone where something is they will just point and not actually help you find it. I see the cleaning people walking around scanning their locations, but not actually cleaning the area. The fruit is touch and go on whether its fresh or a week old....Unless i am in a huge rush i would rather go to Emerson. The people are friendly and the food is much fresher. I hope this store revamps there customer service. They have to notice they aren't as busy anymore and figure out why eventually. read more
