I've been coming to this location for a very long time and it's basically the same thing. The parking is crazy the workers you get some nice ones you get some bad ones. They pretty much stay well stocked I will say. I feel like the deli needs improvement. They've slacked up a lot on a different offerings. I'm not sure why they also moved some of the items that you used to get out of the deli into prepackaged foods. Not sure if I like that. They do have the new noodle place. You can get some noodles prepared for take away. Overall, it's not that bad where I don't wanna shop here it's just that you have to come at a good time to have a OK experience last night. Out of all the local markets ive been too, this is by far the nicest and the manager rocks. U know, once we had a compliment about a front cashier and the manager called and wanted details. I was shocked. One time, a local politician called me and this manager was just as concerned and informed about his responsibilities, with a willingness to handle them as needed. First, I prefer Shoprite over any other grocery store since this is the main grocery store that my mother would frequent while I was growing up. Even when we moved from the area (now have moved back) we would find the nearest Shoprite. I have been to many throughout the city and county. When comparing this particular Shoprite to others, this is one of the better ones as they have renovated and made necessary improvements overtime. I remember the old layout when the deli was on your right instead of the left when entering. The bakery used to be where the deli and seafood section is now. The bakery has greatly improved since pre-reno. Sweet potato cake with cheese cream icing sums it up :) With the improvements, it is much more open, brighter and organized. The prices are great (check circular often), but don't think your final bill will be--things add up quick. They have a great coupon policy so be sure to collect some to save more money. They boast a large selection of items, pharmacy, free nutritionist consultation, PNC bank, and finance area (money orders, etc), periodic food classes, etc. The employees are friendly. Whenever, I needed something or wanted to make a return they always assisted the best way possible (I appreciate this immensely). The only thing that could be better is the frozen food isle. Although, they don't have as large of a selection as Shoprite has, Target, next door frozen food section has a better layout in my opinion. It is more accessible and simple. I know exactly where to get the items that I want. Whereas, Shoprite there isn't ease in finding what you want and the prices aren't as great when comparing. Needless to say, that's a minor shortfall and doesn't overshadow the other great things with this particular Shoprite. Shoprite is part of my childhood and now adulthood. My daughter has used Instacart several times and they have NEVER gotten an order correct. There is ALWAYS something missing. Once ALL the meat picked up was missing, chicken, seafood, beef, ALL the meat. Another time 75% of her order was wrong. Today half of her $100 order was missing, even things she was asked about substituting was not delivered. Thank God they give refunds but it is still frustrating. I wish I could give Instacart zero stars. She deleted the app today. read more

With the recent renovations this place went from terrible to fantastic. What once was a crowded maze of packed aisles and bad lighting has turned into an organized, bright, and shopper-friendly store. I've been going here regularly since I can remember and the change has made the difference. Prices are still cheap, thankfully, and items are fresher than before. And I really appreciate that there are now so many checkout lines. They've really taken into consideration customer wants and it really worked out. My car has the worst timing when it comes to flats. Unfortunately, it got one when I was heading here for an event and of all the shopping centers I've been to, this has to be one of the worst. I figured I'd be able to amuse myself while I waited for a tire, but sadly this was not the case. For one, there's not enough parking which.is actually rather amusing since there's nothing inside to see. People circle and stalk other shoppers in order to nab parking. Two, there's practically no retailers in this mall; all your basic mall staples are absent, with the exception of bath and body works. So even if your car decides it needs a flat, tell it to pick a better mall than Cheltenham! read more

Review is regarding the pharmacy! BIG thank you to the pharmacy staff for helping me get my medication THE SAME DAY!!! I tried to transfer an rx from my previous pharmacy from another state but they took matters into their own hands by calling the pharmacy AND my insurance company! The pharmacist was very caring and even called me back after every phone call he personally made to my former pharmacy. I left a message on ShopRite Site. I am very disappointed in your store brand Bow and Basket chicken. I purchased some around 2 weeks ago because you had offered Purdue on sale , however when I got to your store on a Tuesday afternoon there was only Bowl and Basket. When I got home I separated the chicken and it had some black feathers on it. This is pretty unusual as most chickens have light colored feathers. I separated it and put it in the freezer. I cooked some Sunday ( I purchased family packs of wings and thighs) I was quite surprised because there were veins and other nasty looking stuff around the bones. I am a senior citizen and I have never eaten chicken that looked like that and it didn't really taste like real chicken. Can you tell me what the difference is. I'm rather fond of this supermarket. It's a bit of a strange place, but I think it's good overall, much better than the ACME which is closer to me, in Jenkintown. This is a very large store, and it has dreary, dim lighting...not very bright inside. And the parking lot is a bit awkward to navigate, and tends to be quite crowded. These are about the worst things I can say about it though. The prices here aren't rock bottom (go next door to ALDI for that), but they're lower than a typical supermarket, especially one that has a level of quality like this one. The produce section wasn't earth-shatteringly awesome, but it was pretty solid: stuff was reasonably priced, and looked fresher than average. The seafood counter left some things to be desired, but they had some great deals among the frozen seafood offerings. The rest of the aisles are pretty typical, but there are a lot of sales, and the selection is pretty big. This is a good place to go if you're looking for some sort of product that you can't find in another supermarket--there's a good chance they'll have it just because this store is on the bigger side. There's not a large amount of ethnic foods, probably less than a typical supermarket, but there was a small section of Jamaican stuff. This would be a better than average supermarket to go to if you want to make Jamaican food. I found the employees here to be really friendly and courteous too. Also, although the lines don't move super fast, they seem to keep a lot of registers open and I've never had to wait super long. This is not my favorite market or my weekly go-to place, but it's on my list of ones I stop by from time to time. I like it and I'd recommend at least checking it out. Is not as well kept as some of the other Shop Rites in the city but it gets the job done. The vegetables have never been fresh on the couple of occasions I've visited this location. Had a bad experience in the seafood section this past weekend. The man "servicing" us was extremely rude and did not greet us or ask if we needed assistance. Upon visiting this ShopRite I needed to visit their financial services counter while waiting in line I listened to two counter employees having side conversations while the line had 10-12 people standing in it. After I finally reached the front of line the light skin females tone of voice was very rude after asking to speak to another employee. The light skin female employee went and spoke with another employee the new employee continued to assist me with the same sort of attitude. After she unsuccessfully assisted me she flip-idly said she can call a manager. When the manager arrived the manager seemed to busy to assist me and told me I was welcome to go shop somewhere else. Regardless of being able to assist me or not financial service reps and managers should maintain their professionalism and courtesy at all times. read more

We just started coming here as the Acme has been nothing but expensive disappointments for us. I'm usually pretty good at estimating how much the grocery bill will come up to, and yesterday I expected around $170 but it was only $116 for a cart brimming with mostly healthy stuff. We haven't yet figured out how to systematically go through the aisles, and the selection of products is pretty overwhelming (they have everything from hair extensions to live lobster), plus the walls of deals try to trick you because they often promote items at normal price. But the employees are perky, and it's one of the only places I've been able to find white chocolate seltzer and gallon tins of chocolate pudding. Okay, the latter we haven't ever bought, but I appreciate having the option. read more

This location has improved a great deal since the rennovations. The produce section has a lot more veggies and fruits than before. I wish that the collards, kale, and other greens were more fresh. It would also be great if they sold more organic produce. However, I still shop here at least once a week. I had a great shopping experience today. I racked up 300 Shop Rite points, and was eligible for the free turkey, ham, or lasanga. However, I'm a vegan and don't eat any of those things. I spoke with the Manager Liz, and she offered me a 20 dollar gift card in lieu of the other items. She also stated that she would email the corporate office, and suggest that Shop Rite include their vegan customers in their promotions! read more

I like how close this is to my home; and the prices are affordable. My only issue is an incident that happened today. I was in line getting my groceries rung up; and handed the cashier my discount card. It's a Fresh Grocers card which I was told can be used for both ShopRite and Fresh Grocers, as I believe ShopRite owns Fresh Grocers. I've been using this card for ShopRite for years. She took the card and said "We no longer use this." I stopped and asked her "I use that card here all of the time. Isn't that good for the discount?" She said "Yes, but you won't get the points..." Then she started going on about some seasonal points program or something of that nature. She then simply scanned the card; which of course worked. My issue is she made a scene claiming they "don't use" the card anymore only to prove that they did when she scanned it. It seems like the females working at this store don't like their jobs much. read more

It's not the greatest grocery store I've been to. You can tell that a lot of lower income people shop here, so that can be good when it comes to prices. The quality of the produce isn't that great though and the store smells like a Chinese grocery store (not a compliment). Also, lots of interesting items not found elsewhere like no-carb Walden Farms Syrups (try the pancake syrup),2 carb yam noodles (found next to the tofu), turkey wings, Hibbs Turkey Scrapple and Mt. Olive Splenda-packed Gerkins. Butchers (ask for Steve) who can trim your meat or crack off the leg of lamb to fit in your pan, are available. The PNC Bank branch is handy, The Pharmacists are helpful and knowledgeable. Wonderful place to shop. Take care where you park because this is a huge, very active parking lot. I always choose a spot with lots of space around it and drive cautiously. The owner, Mr. Brown is very civic-minded and fair. The bakery is the best- everything delicious-try their sweet potato cake and pie, their cakes with sour cream and pudding mix or their fabulous cookies. read more

The only 6 stores people come to this mall for is DSW, Burlington Coat Factory (which wanted to shut that location because of low sales), GameStop, ShopRite, Foot Locker, and Home Depot. Other than that, it is pretty much empty. It used to have a lot of patrons, but it slowly dwindled after the movie theater left (after a shooting supposedly?). Everyone shops at Target now, so there is really no need to go here anymore. NONE of the major fashion brands are here. On top of that it has the general "thuggish" feel that wears on it a bit. I have to be honest I'm not a huge fan of malls period and Cheltenham would be on my list of can't stand places to visit. However I'm giving it a three for several reasons. For one thing, it's risen from being this mini mall with about 5-6 sneaker stores and a few other things mixed in. To expanding business via the building of a Commerce Bank, The Children's Place taking up residence and on the way a Target and Chili's restaurant. I've come to appreciate Burlington Coat Factory althought I'd felt that we needed something that was of the caliber Gimbels was when it was located there. And other stores I find to be nice althought I don't shop there like Fasade and Kamouflage. Lastly they're doing several mall improvements which I'm guessing will only add to the look of the mall. It's usually just the place I go when I need something, not where I'd go to walk around and check out things but now it's becoming something I can see myself intentionally going to just because if they keep the improvements up. read more

Second Sunday my husband and I went in a row after 6pm, all the carts in the parking lot. We had to go out into the lot to find a cart. The parking lot is already dangerous to walk through because of the layout, there should be no excuse to why every cart in the store is in the parking lot. Certain isles not properly stocked, no eggs stocked, area dirty. I usually go to the Olney store because better service and their carts always stocked. I live in Mt. Airy but I will make the drive just because of how management in this store is. I only go here when my husband insists. read more

I'm impressed with this Shop Rite location for being a good balance between 'the cheap grocery store' and 'the grocery store that's a joy to shop in'. My family has found that the prices are low - maybe a little higher than Wal Mart, but comparable. It is certainly no Whole Foods, but the employees I've interacted with are pleasant and competent. Today me and my family stopped by only because we were in the neighborhood and I have to say it was surprisingly empty. Tons of stores closed down. Only a few were open. Absolutely no place To eat at except a pretzel place and a check cashing place with a few coke cola vending machines. We stopped at the cell phone vender to ask a few questions and he didn't even attempt to sell us anything, normally I am attempting to rush a conversation with the sales men, but evidentially today we completely switched rolls. I don't think things are organized the best they could be BUT, they have self check-out and they do sell gardein. I go here often because it's so close and I can usually grab things in a hurry. I purchased pre made turkey burgers, when I got home to cook and opened the package, the small was outrageously awful and threw the entire pack in the trash. I no longer go to SR for meats, just packaged items and now i go to the farmers market for fresh meats. Shoprite and the new market in Cheltenham are own by the Browns. That is dangerous. I see the price gouging already. Example, Turkey Hill ice cream was 4.59, at SR. Now you can't get it there anymore, because it's 6.69, at the new market. I'm actively looking for a new market. These conglomerates are not good for the consumer. It actually cost more to run these corporations . He has a right to charge what the market will bare. That's just good business. However, as a consumer, I have a right to shop wherever I want. I'm currently an avid shopper at SR. Now I'm a free agent. I have a choice. Food is very expensive. Watch, when he controls pricing, we're going to pay more. It's the American way. Greed is the culture, doing this cycle of America. It would have been better for us, the consumer,if these two markets were own by two different corporations. This is my first time writing a store review. I found it absolutely necessary that Mr. Brown (the store owner) be made aware of the customer service provided to customers at his Cheltenham ShopRite location. I feel that an organization that values good customer service plays an important part in the company's ability to generate income. The quality of customer service at this location has hit an all-time low (for several months) at this location. Several of the customer service employees do not value their jobs. They talk to customers with an attitude that is totally unacceptable. Synonyms include rude, ill-mannered and impolite to name a few. Specifically, Lynn is the absolute worst. She needs to be either re-trained or transferred to a back office duty that does not involve customers. She never smiles, argues with customers and presents an "I-hate-my-job" attitude. There are several other employees (names that I will not mention until it is necessary) that also do not represent a standard that I feel Mr. Brown would find appropriate. Now at the other end of the spectrum, both Cierra and the lady from New Orleans are absolutely the best customer service employees at this location. They are friendly, pleasant and present an "I-like-my-job" demeanor. read more
