Great addition to the Caldwell community. It's located right on the ave and it has assigned parking. Its a fusion bakery of both European and Turkish treats. The owner was so welcoming and talked with us about all they had to offer. We tried a few things and everything was so good!

GO IMMEDIATELY! I came here with my husband to get a creampuff after reading about this place in an article the other day and SO happy I did. The female (I assume owner?) was SO kind and let me try these caramel filled nut shaped cookies that were divine, so I picked up a dozen of those and a cream puff. The creampuff is probably the best I've had in years, the texture of the outside was perfect and the custard was not overly sweet, complemented perfectly with the chocolate topping, I can't wait to go back and try the other offerings, everything looked amazing. Support your local businesses, this place is a gem!

    Cake pops by Bloom

We walked in to get a taste of their cream puffs and ended up leaving with a variety of pastries + an order of 24 cake pops for our sons birthday. This place is amazing!! The cake pops were moist, flavorful & so beautiful. The Turkish coffee is outstanding. Ahmet is so personable. We will be back asap & we will order our cake pops & macarons from here in the future too. The macarons are so incredible. We can't say enough amazing things about this place. Plus the ambiance is so cute inside!!

The custard was smooth and exceptional. - Creme Brulee - 4.5/5 stars. Not overly sweet and pure bliss. The top lager of touched crust, didn't hold up to the travel, sadly. It was soft but still delightful. - Custard cup - 4.5/5 stars. This reminded me of a Portuguese egg tart but better. - Giant horn - 5/5 stars. The outside crust was flaky and perfect. They brought with them the best of mostly southern Italian and Sicilian pastries, cakes, and cookies. These delicacies all share a mixed past, some equally as French as they are Italian, and others showing Arabic-Sicilian influence. Many of the items continue to be made in the Italian tradition, while others have morphed into something uniquely Italian-American. Located off 46 East in Fairfield, this family-owned and operated establishment, founded in 1962, is one of our favorites for sweet desserts and Italian pastries. Upon arriving on this Christmas Day at Calandra's Italian and French Bakery, a steady stream of patrons entered its door to an interior space big and nicely designed, awaiting their turns on several available lines. On display in their numerous cases, there were cookies to cannolis, an assortment of cookies, pies, cakes, custom cakes, jarred sauces, and homemade pasta. I decided on a coconut custard pie, a pecan pie, and several pasteis de nata. Everything was so good and simply amazing, with a variety of freshly baked goods that cater to all tastes, especially the pasteis, just how the bakeries in Newark's Ironbound district make them. Will definitely be returning here for the next event.

To go a little further, I go to an event a few weeks ago where their cookies are the main dessert and see gluten free and the little one and I do a happy dance. I skeptically open the wrapper and taste one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've had in a long time. I then proceed to order just about everything they will ship. I do have to say that gluten free is going to be different for anyone who isn't used to it but this comes almost perfectly close to a regular cookie without having a million ingredients in it that you can't pronounce. Absolutely amazing. They're so good that my gluten loving brothers have been stealing all my cookies. Did Oprah name this the best gluten free chocolate chip cookie? Yes. Do I usually listen to Oprah? Debatable...but she did also rate the chocolate cake at The Chocolate Room as the best and she was right on about that. Generally gluten free cookies are either chewy because of date paste (in excess) or they are super thin and crunchy and lack those comforting flavors that you look for. This cookie has an amazing height, a super buttery taste and is loaded with chocolate chips. I also ordered the midnight double chocolate cookie and in general I turn my nose up at white chocolate chips but this reminded me of my favorite cookies I used to get at the mall when I was little. Again, buttery and delicious with the right amount of sweetness, not overboard at all - not even with the small amount of white chocolate. The oatmeal plus is another amazing cookie. I happen to love oatmeal cookies and it's one of the only things that I will bake gluten free myself because I don't trust anywhere else but these are awesome! The cranberries, and again with the aid of a few white chocolate chips (literally), are the perfect balance and make for an absolutely delightfully chewy oatmeal cookie. Super huge bonus - every one of my family members and the little one hate raisins so the cranberries are a very welcome change. The butterscotch walnut sugar cookie is amazing! I kind of wanted to do incredibly unhealthy things with it upon the first taste and sent some to a gluten free girlie friend and she said the same thing - divine. It's the perfect hit of sweet and salt. The brownies are a little more on the cakey side but I totally don't mind because again the flavor is perfect, chocolatey, not too sweet and a great texture. Mom and I both thought the same thing on the first taste - perfect vehicle for brownie sundaes. They also sell granola (which I didnt get this time but might have to soon) and breads (I suppose in the area, not for shipment) and the online ordering was super easy and fast. The super important thing is that they're so serious about being gluten free that celiacs everywhere can rejoice. Their facility was set up with all new equipment - no bread oven from another bakery or anything like that. They test their foods to a sensitivity that not even other brands (or probably bakeries) do and do not allow anything with gluten in the facility, because in case you didn't know cross contamination is so easy (Babycakes I'm looking at you). This was truly a find and a treat and I now have boxes and boxes of cookies that I thought were gonna last for a while but at the rate that everyone is eating them I'd be surprised if they last even two more weeks. Gluten free brownie sundae here we come!

What a letdown. I've been shopping at the Caldwell Shoprite for over twenty years, and I was…read morelooking forward to the new location. As much as I liked the convenience and quick "in and out" quality of the smaller original location, the idea of a new, larger store with more inventory and variety was exciting, but sadly, all the negative qualities of this new store have discouraged me from shopping there, and frankly after shopping there just twice I don't plan to return. There are very few handicapped parking spaces, and they only exist at one of the two entrances. Although for reasons passing understanding, there's a solitary handicapped spot out in the farthest corner of the parking lot. What's that about? The main entrance to the parking lot is also at the exact spot where the main entrance and exit to the store is located, which causes an almost omnipresent bottleneck of cars waiting to get into the parking lot, while customers are entering or existing the store with their carts. The inside of the store is impressive at first glance, but that only lasts until you start actually shopping. The produce department somehow feels smaller than the old store with less inventory. The small produce bins are for the most part are equally sized, with no apparent thought given to what they would contain. For example, bananas are in the same size bin as the plantains. Which do you think they sell more of in Caldwell? So, the bins with the popular/everyday items need to constantly be refilled and are consequently frequently empty. Why they didn't make larger bins for bulk items like tomatoes, potatoes and onions is baffling. The deli counter is also smaller than the older store. It's now a small counter where both the customers and the deli people battle for space. In addition, the store has created yet another crowded bottleneck there. Customers who are waiting at the deli counter act as a human barrier to all the other foot traffic that can't get past them. Again, poor planning. The bread counter. Again, smaller than the old store. I've included pictures. The new store has a large dining area with tables that divides the produce area. It's nice idea in concept, since the store does have an upgraded hot foods counter and more prepared foods, but the reality is that the area seems mostly unused aside from the few Shoprite employees I saw eating there, and it acts as a sort dead zone right in the middle of the produce area. The Morristown Shoprite and Livingston Shoprite have similar dining areas, but are wisely located outside of the main shopping area. The aisles are another frustrating design choice. They are loooong. Why they did not make some sort pass-thru at the midpoint, just like the Morristown Shoprite did and Wegman's did with their long aisles is a question. There also seems to be an issue with where the store places it's products. Every supermarket in the country puts the ice cream cones with the ice cream (and Caldwell used to). Now the ice cream cones are at the opposite end of the store in the aisle with the crackers or cookies. It took three employees to find them. This counterintuitive placement of products seems to be a running theme of which that is just one example. On the plus side, the store does sell liquor and beer now, but again, they have chosen to place that section right at the entrance to the store, bisecting the food aisles, which is simply odd to me. The bottom line is the store is new and it is beautiful, but the planning and execution for real, everyday shopping is sorely lacking. Choosing style over substance was a bad choice. Hopefully it's one they can correct. Until then I'm driving to Parsippany, Livingston, or Little Falls (heck, even West Orange).

Their finger sandwiches were a hit at the party. Fresh deli meat and Martin bread, you can't beat that. The platter I ordered served 8, which was way enough for people to take home.
