Order cookies for my baby shower! Short street sweets custom cookies were delicious and perfect design for my baby in bloom baby shower. She was very easy to work with! Will hire her again for future events.

We ordered custom cookies from Mariko for our wedding, and they turned out absolutely perfect! From the very beginning, Mariko was so easy to work with. She was responsive, kind, and genuinely invested in bringing our vision to life. We had a few specific ideas and color details in mind, and she executed our vision perfectly. The cookies themselves were not only beautifully decorated (truly little works of art!) but also delicious. Guests loved the taste of the buttery homemade cookies that were almost too pretty to eat. If you're looking for someone who can create cookies that are both picture-perfect and genuinely enjoyable to eat, I can't recommend Short Street Sweets enough. She made such a special touch for our big day and we're so grateful!

Cookies not only look nice but also taste good! Thanks for working on my order. I appreciate the workmanship that went into putting nice details on each one.

Mariko was incredible to work with and the cookies were amazing for our baby shower. The quality, taste, attention to detail were superb.

Wow, I can't overstate how amazing Mariko is! I am a repeat customer and am just so in love with the gorgeous (and delicious) cookies she makes. I highly recommend Short Street Sweets if you want to add something extra special to a party. These cookies are always the highlight of my kid's birthday!

The cookies for our wedding turned out amazing! Mariko was super responsive and helped me brainstorm ideas. The cookies were also very delicious!

Any chips in the icing was due to my handling of the cookies. They were perfect when I received them.

Mariko Nobori was a pleasure to work with, and she created some incredible cookies for a bachelorette party. She was so helpful as we discussed the designs based off of the theme of the party. She kept in regular contact, and the entire process from inquiry to ordering to delivery was easy, clear and flawless. The bride loved the cookies so much, she got teary-eyed when she saw them. And the cookies were delicious! I would definitely recommend going to Mariko for all your cookie needs.

Wow! Working with Mariko was truly a pleasure. Her precious , detail and deliciousness of her cookies were unbelievable! Myself and my team were so impressed with our custom corporate cookie order!

Wedding-themed sugar cookies in my bridesmaid proposal box!

SHE PROPOSEDDDDDD!!! (see @mary m.'s review cuz she totally predicted that my review was coming..lol!) One of my besties proposed to her bridesmaids/bridal party using sugar cookies in her bridesmaid proposal box! Let's be completely honest, there is no better way to get proposed to then on something scrumptious. Especially when all your favorite people love sweets! When we were handed our ribbon tied boxes, we peeked inside and the first thing my eyes went to were the cookies! There were three total in the shape of a wedding dress, proposal plaque, and the future bride + groom's monogram!! They were so beautifully made and each cookie was so smooth...not to mention, the handwriting on these cookies are seriously impressive. I can't even write on paper this well, let alone IN ICING. Anyway, you eat with your eyes first..and they were almost too pretty to eat. But then, you know...I ate them. Super good, buttery, and not too sweet. I liked that they were fresh and def recommend not waiting to eat them cuz no one likes a tough cookie. lol! Amazing cookie, amazing proposal gift! Definitely recommended for a yummy gift that's sure to dazzle!!

From end to end, Mariko made a special request so seamless. Very quick response when inquiring about a special custom cookies for my sister in law's baby shower. Responded quick to any questions and direct with timeline, not to mention executing per timeline. When picking up the cookies, she went far beyond my expectations. Each cookie was made with so much love and attention. The cookies was such a great hit at the baby shower where there was none left over. Not only was the decoration impeccable but also the taste. Perfectly sweet, not too much or too little. I highly recommend Short Street Sweets if you want to plan something special. Thank you @Mariko!!

Mariko was absolutely awesome to work with! From cookie ordering, making recommendations on design, to being flexible with accommodating pick up dates. The cookies turned out gorgeous and all the party guests loved both the designs and the taste. The details on the cookies are truly a work of art. Highly recommend and will be ordering again for future events.

This review was long overdue.. I had it on my drafts and never finished it! Anyways, here it goes... If I can give Mariko 100 stars, I would. She was just wonderful, crazy talented, and very professional! I saw her AAAAMMMMAZING work while searching for some custom cookies for my godson's birthday but her schedule was booked! I was so glad I had the chance to put an order in for my sister's 21st birthday. I was very pleased with her work. I gave her a couple photos for inspiration but I allowed her creativity to run free and she delivered some beautiful cookies. Stellar customer service as well! She will communicate with you throughout the whole process. She doesn't say no if there's something you want and she cannot do.. She will give you a better alternative. No one wanted to eat or even touch the cookies because they were too pretty! P.S. Yes, the cookies tasted as good as it looks! I highly recommend her and cannot wait to order more!

Mariko is incredible at what she does, her cookies are true works of art. I was looking to make custom cookies for an Indian bachelorette party. While she's never made anything like that in the past, she was willing and enthusiastic to try and has truly outdone herself. I shared a few images of what I was looking for and a color scheme but the result was so much better than the examples. There is so much intricacy and care in every design, it's quite incredible. And the cookies taste great too, though if I could frame them I would. And on top of that Mariko is responsive and truly a pleasure to work with. Next time I'll try to order a cake :) THANK YOU!!

I absolutely was surprised and can't wait to go back with my friends. My good friend took me here and we were hungry with no reservation! They are kind and so hospitable. My bowl was colorful, tasty and full of delicious surprises. Some flavors took me right back to childhood and happy moments! The experience is more like a workshop where you learn so much as you are eating the carefully curated food. I bought some of the fermented food from the fridge as well. Can't wait to share these with my family & friends!

I honestly wanted to like this, but I really didn't. First of all, I thought I liked pickles but…read moremaybe not to this degree. The "Rice & Pickles" menu also varies, so you don't know what you'll be getting until you show up. I had booked my reservation via email months in advance and requested for a bar seat. We showed up early and looked around the shop; they didn't seem ready yet so we told them we'll wait outside until it was time to check in. Once people started showing up, they were essentially in front of us. I had presumed the staff we talked to would remember we were there first already, but just wanted to wait outside since they weren't ready. Luckily, we were still sat at the bar as we requested, but it was just a chaotic check in system - or I would say there really wasn't one at all. Once we sat down at opening along with everyone else, it still took a while to be served. They were essentially still prepping as we were sat there. The bar seating area was preferred because we could listen to Kevin introduce the food. He was very passionate, but everyone else working there just seemed annoyed to be there. However, the stools are wildly uncomfortable and we were really squished in. The height was also just wrong so you either had to hold the bowl (which was pretty big and heavy) or lean over very far to eat. Now, the pickling/fermenting was Japanese inspired? But it wasn't done well, in my opinion. They used a lot of Asian ingredients but the actual execution was poor. For example, I usually love all things daikon but their daikon bettarazuke was much too fermented. Texture and flavor were both overwhelming - not sweet or crunchy. The only item I really liked was the koji garlic on the avocado (additional supplement $6). That was flavorful and delicious - wish there was more of that. The cured egg was something soy based but tasted like it was sat in the curing liquid for way too long - not good. The rice itself was honestly terrible; brown rice, but just didn't taste like it was properly cooked. The dashi had no flavor even though it was supposed to be fennel leek apple- it was just extremely sour. We didn't like most of the pickled vegetables, just flavor-wise and texturally. Everything was extremely sour and one-note, with no nuance in flavor besides from that, making it not that palatable as whole. Overall, I wouldn't be back but hey if you really like sour vegetables... $36 per bowl per person, 20% automatic gratuity added. Oh, and it was also difficult to pay; we got up and stood by the iPad for a good 10 minutes until they came over to help us pay to leave.

As an Algerian living in the United States, it breaks my heart that I have to write this review. I…read morelove my community, and I make a point of supporting small businesses, especially those owned by Arab, North African, and Muslim families because they remind me of home. My family, friends, and I have shopped here for a long time, but after what happened today, that will no longer be the case. With the World Cup playing, I knew this store was selling Algerian jerseys. I wanted to surprise two of my American friends who have been proudly supporting Algeria by buying them jerseys. Today, I asked a friend to stop by the store and buy two jerseys. The employee working at the store today 06/30/25 between approximately 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. told my friend that the jerseys were $40 each. My friend noticed the jerseys did not have the star on them and politely asked whether they could be $35 instead (we had previously purchased 2 jerseys that had 2 stars and were $40) . The employee responded by saying, "As a matter of fact, I'll charge you $45." My friend asked why and even mentioned that he was Algerian, hoping there might be some flexibility. Instead, according to my friend, the employee responded by calling him a homophobic slur in Arabic. My friend is one of the kindest people I know. He wasn't rude, he wasn't disrespectful, and he wasn't looking for an argument. He simply wanted to buy two jerseys. Rather than make a scene, he paid for the jerseys and left. He later called me, and hearing how hurt and humiliated he was absolutely broke my heart. No customer should ever have to experience that. It is disgusting, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable.Whether you personally agree with someone's sexuality is your own business. However, when you are working in customer service, your job is to treat every paying customer with basic human dignity and respect. Calling someone a slur because of who they are or as a matter of fact who you think they are has absolutely no place in any business. An employee represents the business they work for. Their actions reflect on the store and its management. If this employee felt comfortable speaking to a customer this way, I have to question what kind of environment allows that behavior. I'm not asking for special treatment, not asking anyone to change their personal or religious beliefs. I am asking for the bare minimum: RESPECT . Every customer who walks through your doors deserves to be treated with courtesy regardless of their race, religion, nationality, gender, or sexual orientation. I am very interested to see how the owners respond to this review. If what happened to my friend is consistent with how customers are treated, I believe it deserves to be taken seriously. No one should be subjected to homophobic slurs while simply trying to make a purchase. If they choose not to address this, I will consider reporting the incident to the appropriate agencies and organizations that handle discrimination complaints, as well as sharing my experience on other review platforms. This isn't about seeking revenge it's about expecting every customer to be treated with basic dignity and respect. I have always made an effort to support Arab, North African, and Muslim-owned businesses because they represent my community and my culture. That support, however, should never come at the expense of basic human decency. Until this matter is properly addressed, neither I, my family, nor my friends will be returning or recommending this business to others.
