The cake I was charged $200 for
    Janale F.

After Covid, everyone seems to think they have new found skills that they don't have. I was scammed by this chick Rocio. She got the date of the event wrong, got the Jersey request (Poole) wrong and forgot to put Happy Birthday Elijah on the cake. I'm a single Mom and I wanted this cake to be special for my son. I paid $285.00, drove from San Jose to Oakland thinking this woman had skills. I should have known something was up the way she quickly placed the cake in the back seat of my car and left in a hurry.

At the last minute, I decided to try and order a small "wedding cake" for my second wedding anniversary. Rocio was so great to work with, from concept/ design, to flavors/ options, to pick up/delivery. The cake exceeded my expectations aesthetically and was absolutely delicious! I'm eating a piece for breakfast as I write this review. Can't recommend her enough!

Gorgeous custom made cookies for my moms 60th birthday!

For my mom's 60th birthday Rocio made us custom cookies. These cookies were amazing!!! Not only were they beautifully done, they also tasted super yummy. Thanks Rocio!!!

Ghetto Bakery Pinterest fail shop. See the details for what I ordered vs. what I got. This ultimate fail cost me $285.00 and she offered a $20.00 refund because she felt bad. When I told her what I thought was a reasonable refund ($60.00) she ghosted me. Cake tasted like trash too. She put whole blueberries with a lemon flavor frosting

Rocio and her crew made my kids birthday the most cutest tastest cake! Her cake was moist and exactly what my kids wanted! She also made them cupcakes and lego cookies for each kid at the party! All the parents at the party kept asking who made my cake and cookies they are so yummy. I would reccomend plate me a cake and will be using her for all the birthdays!

Rocio is amazing!!! We had a last minute cake emergency (less than 24 hr notice). I called Rocio and explained our tight schedule and our design for the cake, she was easy to work with and very accommodating. We didn't think we would be able to find someone to make a cake with our time frame but she immediately said she could do it, and nailed the design!

    Cookies and cheesecake

I met Rocio at a wedding fair, at first interaction, I knew she genuinely cared about her products! I hired Plate Me a Cake for my engagement party, and let's just say, every single item that I ordered was a hit with my guests! Especially her cheesecake! Not only are her desserts decorated beautifully, they also taste GREAT! I am looking forward to working with Plate Me a Cake for my future events!

Rocio & her team were amazing. First off, they answer their phone. Second off, I called on very short notice and they were so accommodating. Third, easy to work with, gave great suggestions & options. Fourth, although the delivery person got lost they called immediately & followed directions well. Fifth, the cake itself was delicious & fresh. We ordered strawberry shortcake & everybody loved it! The price was reasonable & I have zero complaints!

Rocio did the desert table for my son birthday party. I got so many compliments of how tasty and beautiful it looked. She was did sports theme. She even created a baseball glove made out of chocolate with cake pop ball inside. She is very professional and very easy to communicate. She understand what you want and give suggestion on how to make it better.

I've ordered twice from plate me a cake and haven't been disappointed. Her attention to detail in my orders were amazing. She nailed every single detail I asked her for. She's always very responsive and easy to work with. I highly recommended her for any desert need you may have. Prices are a bit high but her work is worth it. They don't just look pretty they are delicious as well.

Rocio did such an amazing job with my wedding cupcakes and cutting cake! She was great at being in touch and responding to all my emails, and she even got back to me while she was on vacation! She was really helpful in figuring how many cupcakes to order and had no problem with making all seven different flavor combinations we wanted. Our "naked cake" cutting cake was beautiful, and she even added some flowers and greenery to make it even more special. She showed up on time and made a beautiful display, I got so many compliments on how delicious the cupcakes were! I would definitely recommend Rocio and Plate Me A Cake for any dessert needs and would definitely use her again! Thanks, Rocio!!!

The moment you walk into the shop, you'll notice the current flavor offerings displayed on colorful ice cream-shaped signs across the wall to the right. I could spend an eternity studying each flavor, but there's limited space to queue indoors so really gotta decide on a flavor and serving style fast in order to keep the line moving. Among the flavors were some classics, fruity/floral mixes, and dessert-inspired ones too, a whole range so there's something for everyone. I got the Breakfast Brownie and it was unforgettable! It tasted creamy and delightful without being overwhelming, while the cornflakes mixed inside added a satisfying crunch to each bite. I came back a second time before a show at Crybaby, a smaller venue across the street. Grabbing a scoop here to-go has naturally become part of my pre-concert routine at this point and I plan to come back again next time to explore more flavors. If you're ever heading to a show nearby, I'd definitely recommend stopping by beforehand for a lil energy boost and treat.

Also, whoever they have making their flavors is super creative! They list out all the flavors on the wall on super cute little ice cream scoop cut outs for you to browse while you wait in line. It is definitely more of a takeout ice cream spot with not a ton of seating so you either gotta get lucky with seating, wait for a spot, or take it to go. We got the pandan strawberry and the milk & cookies + cream. Next time I stop by I really want to try out their sundae!

I was surprised that no one spoke of business specifics in their reviews. There is a limit to how many can come in; and you are not allowed to touch anything when inside. There are also no prices listed anywhere. We thought this was odd. Our order: * Personal Peach Cobbler * Walnut Brownie * Banana Pudding For these 3 items, our total was over $25. The service was friendly but a bit awkward. You are only able to see cases of dessert options, it is more of a pick-up point, not so much a bakery location you can browse. I wouldn't suggest coming as a large group, there is no where to sit to enjoy your baked goods and parking is very difficult. While the cobbler and banana pudding were good, I wasn't a fan of the brownie. My partner enjoyed the cobbler a lot, but when we did the calculations, the prices were astronomical. I'm not sure what gourmet difference the items contained, but we likely would not come back to this bakery considering prices and parking. The location is cute, in theory, but with no actual location or displays, or price lists- what you pay for doesn't balance out. The lack of transparency for prices was very sus to us. I'm sure the business will continue on especially with how much they charged. I can't imagine the bakery location and building rent costing a lot as far as operating costs; as it is small, and not expansive at all. The price of the baked goods doesn't even go towards branded packaging. Which could be understandable. The only beverages available that I seen was Nesquik. Steep prices with no justification - especially when you have other bakeries in the area, in addition to Nation's for Pies, very affordable and classic as well. E&J's has a great banana pudding and cobbler as well for $6- they are also a Black-owned business and family operated. Absolutely no bad intent, just wanting to share transparency in my review so Yelpers know that prices are not listed, which means they are subject to fluctuation- in this economy that is not a fair way of doing business. One star per item we liked, for this review. As much signage is visible upon entry regarding rules and limited persons for entry at a time- not one area provided prices; only signs that tell you not to touch. It's required by law for prices at every establishment to be listed, according to SB 478 for general consumer goods and services in California.

Overall, it's been a good experience every time. Parking can be challenging depending on the time of day. Most of the parking is on the street, so you'll need to keep an eye out for pedestrians and bicyclists while looking for a spot. That's probably the biggest inconvenience of visiting this place. There is usually a 15 to 20-minute wait whenever we come for dessert, but we've always been seated within the quoted wait time, which we appreciate. The restaurant itself is fairly small, so the dining area can feel crowded. Tables are very close together, and you're practically sitting back-to-back with other guests. Because of this, the noise level can get pretty high, and it's easy to overhear conversations from nearby tables. The desserts are the highlight here. The BingSu is excellent, and the lava cake is one of our favorites. The menu is accessed through a QR code, making ordering simple and convenient. Food portions are decent, although prices are definitely on the premium side. Service is efficient, and the food and desserts usually arrive pretty quickly. We used to go to their city location regularly, but over the years we've found ourselves visiting this location more often because the area feels more comfortable and convenient for us. That has made this our go-to spot whenever we're craving dessert. Overall, this is a great place for dessert. The quality of the desserts keeps us coming back, but the difficult parking situation and cramped seating prevent it from being a full 5-star experience. Would definitely return for the BingSu and lava cake.

I've been lucky enough to try four of their flavors, and each one showcases their signature silky texture and deep flavor. All are not too sweet! My personal favorite is the Kyoto Matcha - the matcha is high-quality, with a vivid green color and rich flavor that balances beautifully with the creamy cheesecake base. The Original is a classic for a reason with deeply caramelized top and creamy interior. I also tried the Iribancha, a roasted green tea flavor. It's intense, smoky, and unique..maybe not one I could finish in one sitting, but definitely memorable and recommend for those who want that earthy/smoky taste. The truffle was also a standout, adding just enough umami to round out the sweetness. Preorders drop via Instagram (@basukucheesecakes) and sell out lightning-fast.
