We have tried this place on several occasions and have never been impressed. After a couple of years we decided to try again. What a mistake. We ordered the pimento cheese appetizer and asked them to warm it as suggested by the bartender. When it came out they had put the chips and pita points on the plate while it was warming and the pita bread was not edible and the chips had a burnt taste to them. I had the club sandwich. The ham was so salty that I had to take it off of the sandwich. Once we got our bill and realized their draft beer was $5 we knew this was a never again place to go. Not only was the food bad but the beer prices are more than anywhere in downtown Greenville. Service was good but that would not bring me back here again. read more

Fair warning: "fresh made waffles" are not fresh. I have had the same pre-packaged waffles before when other restaurants have claimed they had fresh waffles. They aren't bad but they are filled with crystallized sugar and therefore pack around 17g of sugar per waffle. Also, the employees are no longer wearing masks. Not surprised considering the state (I am from out of state) but since the Yelp site for the restaurant says employees are wearing masks just know this isn't the case. The Punch is small but good. The food is good however, they catered my daughter's wedding and it cost me $800 at a venue in Travelers Rest. I expected All of the leftover food to be boxed up and given to me since I paid all that money and there was alot of leftover food.. however, they boxed it all up and took it away and distributed it all (8 ounce steaks) among themselves I guess ----so I call that thievery. read more

Shortfields is very popular local restaurant. It has a full-service bar, but the focus is on dining. We eat there frequently when we come to TR to visit our son and his family. They have excellent appetizers, for example, wings. Great sandwiches - the burgers are thick, served on specialty buns and tasty. Dinner entrees include steaks, pork chops fish and so forth. All very tasty. Service is excellent. We often use carry out for dinner and the restaurant does a super job of packing orders with quality containers and care. Prices are very reasonable. read more

My chicken and waffles was so Delicious! First of all- the chicken breast was so juicy that I used the butter knife to cut it and I barely even put press because it broke apart so easily because it was so juicy! The waffles are mouthwatering- so different from any waffles I had ever tried. Its like it had sugar inside of it. The butter is also REAL! My kids love their cheese burger and my daughter liked her boneless chicken. The atmosphere is really nice and chill and the music selection was phenomenal. My new favorite place! read more

This is a upscale dining in my small hometown . It's a great place to go on a date or meet friends or have a girls night out . You can sit outside and enjoy the Sun if weather permits . Now , the appetizer you want to start with would be fruit nachos , or maybe spinach and artichoke dip but then again the pimento cheese and pita chips is good too . Tonite I had the chicken Cordon Bleu served with collard greens and roasted potatoes and side salad , all of which were perfect ! Such generous portions , I could not finish it . My daughter had the fruit nachos and bacon cheese fries . She loved both . Update They have several new menu items . The homemade Jalapeño pimento cheese is awesome as well the Sliders topped with Fried Mac and Cheese. read more

I tried this place a couple of times with the family in the past and quite honestly I thought I was done with it. I invited a friend to lunch this week and he requested Shortfields because I live in TR and apparently he was craving Mango Habanero Wings. I'm glad he made the suggestion, I order a Baja Burger with a side salad. The Baja Burger was cooked as requested and I enjoyed the side salad which was essentially a spring mix with balsamic vinaigrette. On Saturday, my boys were asking for lunch so I took them with me to Shortfields. One ordered the chicken sandwich and the other ordered the reuben. This time I ordered the Mango Habanero Boneless Wings. We all enjoyed our meal, it was so good we even ordered dessert. I look forward to trying it again, hopefully with my wife and daughter as well. read more

We've eaten here several times and the food is always good. The service is prompt and the servers are friendly and accommodating. The last time I left my comfort zone and opted for red meat-a burger. Delicious. And I chose the sweet potato fries as my side. Also delicious. The menu is varied, running from appetizers to salads and soup to sandwiches to full meals. There are desserts as well as a full bar serving wines, beers, and mixed drinks and cocktails. The ONLY reason this is not a five star rating is the parking lot!! First time to Shortields tonight. We decided to try something new for Pi Day [3/14/15] and we agreed to try this venue in TR. What a pleasant surprise. The dining room was almost full and the front patio was congested. We were seated immediately. Drinks came quickly and we ordered. My wife selected the flat bread pizza...and I ordered the smoked corned beef brisket. I asked for the fries to be crispy and garlic seasoned. What an extraordinarily good sandwich!! Perfectly complemented by the crispy garlic french fries. My wife shared a piece of her pizza with me. It was terrific. To top of the meal we split a piece of the peanut butter pie. It was a creamy peanut butter custer filling on a graham cracker based crust. Topped with hipped cream and a rich chocolate syrup drizzle with chocolate chips topping. So deliciously decadent. Between the prompt courteous service, the casual atmosphere, the comfortable country atmoshphere and the delicious food and the clean restroom...this is definitely a 5-star restaurant guaranteed to receive our continued patronage. Shortfields is literally okay. Service was average; not bad, but definitely nothing spectacular. Beer is pretty overpriced. They have a lot of menu options, but I got to try an appetizer, two of the sandwiches, and two of the sides and I wasn't overly impressed with any of it. The table ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer and while they were good, I wish they would separate the different types of pickles that they fry. I'm personally not a bread-and-butter pickle fan, and the one I dared to try turned out to be that type. Also, my friend ordered boneless wings but received bone-in. (I didn't bother with those, but the order mishap was still frustrating for others.) I ordered the Reuben sandwich with french fries for dinner, and my friend ordered a Cuban sandwich. We decided to split the sandwiches, and while both were good, the bottom piece of bread on the Reuben was mushy by the time I received it. The fries were decent - not bad, just nothing special. Another friend ordered the sweet potato chips as a side, and I tried them, but they were much too sweet for my taste. Also, after we got our food I didn't see anyone to ask for water again, and my glass went empty for a while. I'm not hard to please...but I do need my water glass filled regularly. The food prices were reasonable but to be honest I think if I'm out eating in Travelers Rest I'll try somewhere different next time. read more

Great meal - started with the KC wings. Very flavorful, crispy on the edges, delicious blue cheese dressing to match. Had a burger with blue cheese and bacon and a spicy sauce...was good except that I asked for the burger to be cooked medium, and it came out well done. For dessert shared a chocolate dipped key lime pie, and tried the pumpkin cake. Both were presented very nicely, but the key lime pie was far to sweet for my taste. The pumpkin cake was very good however. Only drank a water and a cup of coffee so couldn't tell you about their cocktails, but they did have an interesting selection for holiday themed cocktails. The coffee was so-so. Other- waitresses were very friendly, restaurant clean, nice set up, plenty of TVs, nice background music, good vibes. :) Giving a three based on the burger, mine and my bfs was cooked wrong, and that's a big no no for a restaurant. read more

This place is awesome! Everything our group had was fantastic. We had the pork tenderloin special wrapped in bacon that was prepared perfectly, corvina baked fish en papillote, shrimp and grits that was very creamy, and a veggie burger topped with pimento cheese. Our server Jasmine, was amazing!!! She was friendly, attentive, helpful, and efficient :). In fact, everyone who works here is friendly. If you're in Travelers Rest, visiting Furman or the Swamp Rabbit Trail, this place should not be missed. Joe said he is amazed every time he comes here!!! My personal favorite is the southern cordon Bleu, over homemade mashed potatoes and covered in a bangin' Dijon cream sauce, and collard greens. Like I seriously want to lick the plate!!! We stopped at Shortfields for a beer only because the Swamp Rabbit brewery next door is closed on Mondays. You'd think they'd have a keg of Swamp Rabbit on draft since they are right next to each other but no. They did have a decent beer selection but only one local beer on draft from Brewery 85 which was actually a very good IPA. The menu was mostly typical American fried foods and burgers but we just got beer so the food could be amazing. It's set up kind of like a sports bar with TVs and cheap outdoor furniture The outdoor area was pretty nice and large with a couple couches to chill on. read more

There aren't many places to go in TR and this place is just ok. I think it's pretty love/hate as it's always crowded and we don't get it. We have been there numerous times and appetizers have been the better items. Service is ok, food takes forever, beer is overpriced unless you get the one undesirable option on happy hour. Today we ordered to go. Food took 20 minutes longer than the 30-35 minute estimate. One order was wrong. Then other was barely warm by the time we got it. Appreciate that they gave us a card for a free appetizer but we try not to go there. Guys. We broke down and finally went back to use the card for the 2 free apps. I don't consider myself picky and can almost always find something to order, and we got takeout. I'm a sucker for fish tacos so decided to try them. They were so bad that I literally threw them in the trash. Even my husband couldn't believe I found something I couldn't eat and still laughs about it. We have officially sworn them off. read more

So, I am giving 3 stars, because it is overpriced, except for the entrees. I wanted the trout with greens, instead of potatoes. Our server was hesitant. I was going to pay an upcharge and everything. Just kind of made everything awkward. I really wanted a salad, but they are obnoxiously pricey. My friend got a steak. She said it was fatty, and none of her food was served very warm. We've been coming here for a while, I've always enjoyed their side salads with the mixed greens and balsamic dressing, its better than most places, but I gotta say the last several times we've eaten here our wings that we use to absolutely love have changed. They are now always hard and dry and difficult to chew. The first time they were bad we brushed it off and thought maybe a new cook but now it seems to be every time we come and they are always cold. **Let me clarify that the Shortfield's in Simpsonville South Carolina is wonderful! The Short field's in Travelers Rest was horrible. We got the deviled eggs with fried oysters on top for an appetizer. The fried oysters were just ok but the eggs were NASTY. My fiance got the french dip and it was bland and not very good. I got a half of a chicken salad sandwich (bread was stale and very hard, chicken salad was so-so) and a bowl of French onion soup. The cheese was good on the soup but the soup itself was inedible. (salty dishwater comes to mind). If we weren't in such a time crunch that day, we would of sent it all back. read more

Great hometown spot! The outdoor seating is a nice option and the atmosphere is always good. Definitely recommend!

I am in love with their prime rib! Seriously the best around the upstate area. Super tender and well seasoned, not too salty on the outer edges like a lot of other prime ribs that I've had. The entree comes with a side salad (spring mix, grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, onions) and also two sides (vegetable medley & baked potato), but you can have any two sides that you like. The prime rib has a creamy horseradish that comes with it. The only downfall is, prime rib is only available on Tuesday nights starting at 5pm. And you should come early to get the temperature that you like, plus they run out quick (around 7pm). The service is good. Servers and managers are attentive. read more

They aren't a downtown Greenville quality food but the prices aren't downtown Greenville either. For the price point they do an excellent job and I highly recommend them. read more

Horrible horrible horrible experience here last Saturday night . I ordered the 16oz Ribeye. The ribeye is covered so heavy with pepper Corn. It was crunchy hot. It sets your mouth on fire. No enjoyment of the streak. The pepper over powered the steak. I sent my collards back because they were salted so heavy. I got a bake potatoes instead. It tasted old and was brown inside. I hated to pay for the food but I did. Never will I go back. Service was excellent and nice atmosphere out on the patio. Sweet little waitress. Shortfields you need to step up now. read more
