Club sandwich with sweet potato chips
    Nichole S.

We stopped here for a late lunch after a day on the trail and returning our bikes at Sundrift. Two of us got the club sandwich and it was so good! Never had one with a fried egg on it before and now I wish they all did that. Everyone at the table loved the sweet potato chips and the fries my daughter had were very good too. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather.

    Veggie omelet with hashbrowns

After a 5 mile hike in Paris mountain we decided to give Traveler' Rest another chance. Hungry and tired, we stepped into Shortfields. Ambiance casual and lively, fifteen minutes wait and we were in the booth. Menu looked well endowed and plentiful. We ordered brunch fare and a chicken salad. So, avocado toast was good but not enough; it could use some thing else on the plate. Breakfast potatoes were a little tired and could have been warmer. Veggie omelette was very tasty and hash browns not too shabby. The Salad was par excellence in both presentation and taste. The Philly style omelette also did not disappoint. Definitely worth another visit soon!

    Pretzel Bites

I come here ever so often and I would like to say this place is quite quaint. Always love the food here and the this is the only place I know where I can get a nice pretzel bite not a ball not a full pretzel just a nice little pretzel bite. The salads are fantastic and always fresh and I know everyone who works there works hard. Any food industry weather humans know it or not isn't an easy task having to deal with difficult customers and trying to keep business thriving with competitive restaurants but, they do it all and more. I definitely recommend this place if you're new to the area or even a local.

White wings: tenders stuffed with pepper jack cheese and jalapeno wrapped in bacon!

Kid friendly! Coloring pages and crayons available! And they have changing tables available! Parent win right there lol What caught my was the white wings! Anything wrapped in bacon is a must order lol. And the travelers trio paired well with the tenders! Egg salad, chicken salad and tuna salad with cornbread! Perfect for someone who is indecisive like me! They have plenty of parking available in the back but side street is available as well. Fyi. It's right next door to a brewery so grab something to eat and they wash it down with a cold craft beer!

    Chili cheese tater tots! Yum!
    Luisa H.

First time visiting Shortfields. We ordered the chili cheese tater tots, they were delicious!! And we both got burgers, they were very good also. The service was good too. We did notice that the tables weren't cleaned off and requested that they do.

So much food!! We stumbled into this small town eatery after biking the entire Swamp Rabbit trail. We were HUNGRY! This place did not disappoint. Huge portions, reasonable prices, great service, hot coffee, and comfortable seating. I could not have been happier. I had the best Monte Cristo I have had in my entire life. Absolutely perfect and it was enough to put me in a diabetic coma but it was incredible! Thankfully we had the entire bike ride back to Greenville to work off the sugar but I was so glad we took a chance on this place. It has a very down home, family kind of vibe with tons of outdoor seating that I am sure is much more popular during the cooler months. It would be easy to have a family get together here or just catch up with friends. Hunger brought us in, and we were not disappointed. Try the Monte Cristo - your life will be changed. Bon voyage!

My first time here -- having lunch. Relaxed atmosphere, large bar area, varied menu. I will come again to try another item on the menu.

Do they have an outside dining area?

They do. It's a nice patio area. But the staff do not wear masks.

There is also indoor eating in this spot that was converted from a house a few ago. You order at the cash register, get a number and then they bring the food to your table. The cashier was upbeat and excited about the food they serve. First time at this spot. Not too busy, but it was Thursday night and it's out of the way. Cashier gave recommendations, but I went rogue and got the Falafel Pita sandwich with a side salad and really enjoyed that. Really nice flavor combinations and filling. The sandwich comes with roasted peppers, heirloom tomatoes, artisan lettuce, beet hummus (surprising good), and refreshing alfalfa sprouts that seem to work for this sandwich. The dressing is super zingy, be sure you like lemon (I do) as that's really pronounced in that dressing. The sandwich is rich so I definitely recommend getting the salad with that one. My spouse got the Sandwich special: Burrata Sandwich (Ciabatta roll, burrata, steak, peppers, onions) with fries. The fries were plentiful and warm but not blazing hot. There's a self-serve soda station, condiment station, and paper to-go boxes. This spot would meet the bill if you are looking for a sandwich / salad spot for an intimate date night or fun time with friends.

Let me be very clear: this place has ZERO curb appeal. None. Zilch…read more The building looks like it has stories... from before electricity. If you judge restaurants by looks alone, you'll keep driving. But here's the twist -- A on health score and some seriously old-school food. I stopped by craving a Clock Restaurant-style burger. You know the kind... no frills, paper box, takes you straight back to the 90s. And yep -- that's exactly what I got. Burger came in a box and unlocked childhood memories instantly. Order: Double cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, extra mayo, pickles, fries, and slaw. Now... small hiccup. No extra mayo. No pickles. BUT a whole garden of onions showed up instead I took the onions off, shrugged, and absolutely devoured the meal. Everything was cooked fresh, piping hot, and hit that nostalgic sweet spot. Fries were hot, slaw was solid, burger was legit. They even threw in a free tea, which always earns bonus points in my book. All for a little over $10 bucks! I didn't go inside -- drive-thru only -- and judging by the outside, I'm guessing the inside matches the "very old and very dingy" aesthetic. But honestly? Looks aside, the food speaks louder. I'd give this place 5 stars if the order had been perfect, but the missing mayo and pickles knocked it down one. Still, I'd absolutely come back if I lived closer. If you're hunting for a no-nonsense, throwback burger joint that feels like stepping into a time machine -- this is it. Don't judge it by the building. Try it at least once.
