Literally still at the establishment and couldn't wait to write a review. My friend and I intended eating at Tandem but it was closing and we were starving so we decided to settle for this. And that's exactly what we done was settle. We chose to be seated outside because it's sunny. I ordered deviled eggs with crab meat, hoping I'd find my new favorite way to eat them. When they came out, I was unimpressed with the presentation first off. It was a thin egg stuffed with a little yolk mix and piled up crab meat. That didn't appear to be crab meat. It was fishy so I was already reluctant to try but I went ahead. First bite was odd. But, being a foodie, I knew I had to try more than one bite. My friend had one, as well. We both thought they tasted nasty and told the server. Her response was literally 'Wel they're almost gone now, I maybe could discount them!' We ate two of 5- leaving 3 that we would NOT eat! From there my mind was made up. I ordered a Baja burger that was just barely subpar. My friend ordered a turkey burger and had to eat around the pink spots. Turkey can't be pink . Anyways. We had two good beers from it. We won't be back, needless to say! I'm just hoping and praying I don't get food poisoning from the supposed crab meat on deviled eggs. Never. Ever. Again! read more

This is a nice little restaurant. The prices are reasonable and you will find a variety of selections that should allow most folks to find something they like. Staff is friendly and wait times are usually pretty brief. I see some reviews on here about specific issues such as too much pepper on the ribeye. Not that would not bother me because I like spicy food but I don't eat ribeye anyhow. I'd say if you care to order that just let them know your preferences. I eat a pretty clean diet so I have frequent special requests. I've never had a problem with their cooperation on my orders. read more

Tried this place a half dozen times. This was the last. Brought out of town guests and it was embarrassing. Out of stock menu items, flavorless prime rib, burned brisket taco, chicken alfredo with hair in it! 30 minutes for a glass of wine! Never again. We stumbles upon Shortfields after hiking Paris Mountain recently. We were super excited after reading the menu, as it had a wonderful variety of food. We were seated right away on the patio which was nice. However, the table was dirty and no-one offered to clean it. We waited for a bit and were told that our server would be with us shortly. About 10 minutes later our server arrived and took our drink order and appetizer order. We got the drinks just a few minutes later. However, after 20 minutes, the appetizer still wasn't there. I told the server that I did not want the appetizer if it would be coming with the meal. Several minutes later, we got our Fried Green tomotoes. We waited another 20 minutes, and were told by our server that our meal would be out in 2 minutes. At least 15 minutes later, our food finally arrived. We ordered fried fish and fish tacos. The place did not seem overly busy so, we are unsure as to why the food took so long. But, the most disappointing thing is that when I went to use the bathroom, there was an inch of backed up toilet water on the floor. The place was just so dirty. Unfortunately, we will not be back due to the cleanliness of the place and the service. I will say that the food was pretty good. But, not worth the almost hour wait. read more

If the heat gives you a stroke, stay far from here. We arrived just as they opened at 11am. A few other tables were already seated. Things started okay, normal drink order followed by food order. Then, after ordering easy breakfast items, we sat waiting an hour in the heat for food that still hasn't arrived. Meanwhile, a couple who was there just before us had left, others who arrived 40 minutes after we did began getting their orders. I won't return. Scrambled eggs and bacon doesn't take over an hour to cook. The only thing cooking here was me in the sun under an umbrella that doesn't provide shade. read more

Extremely disappointed in this place. Will never be back. I strongly suggest not going to this place ESPECIALLY if you have a slightly "ethnic" sounding last name. The hostess was absolutely appalling. She was not young - so I cannot blame it on inexperience. When I told her my last name for a table, she immediately treated me like I was stupid. I have never seen so much trouble spelling the last name "Ortiz" (she was acting racist) that I gave up and gave her my first name. I was told the wait would be 25 minutes. Fine. I also specifically told her I needed an outside table for 3 people. Oddly enough, there were a ton of empty tables - but whatever. I should've known to leave at this point, but I was pretty hungry and was just visiting the area. After 30 minutes, I check on our table - it turns out she has a table for me - inside. She was surprised I wanted one outside. She mentioned she had no idea how long the wait for the outside would be. To clarify, there were a ton of empty tables outside. We left and went to another restaurant - the Whistle Stop - and had a lovely experience. I highly recommend that place instead. read more

I dropped in for something quick. The buffalo bacon burger was good and the draft beer was cold. The pricing seemed a bit off to me. A draft beer pint was $6. The place looks like it used to be an Italian restaurant now with a row of televisions and a number of beer taps. It seems odd. The server was friendly. But the sum of all this does not add up to an experience I'd bother to repeat. read more

Went in last night with the wife. Rolls were great. Wife ordered the ribeyee, asparagus, and Mac and cheese. Mac n cheese was incredible. Ribeye was cracked in black pepper to the point of that's all you could taste. I had the cordon blue which was ok at best. Now I enjoyed the food it's just they have their waiters not in just one section waiting tables they scatter them all over the place even going outside and it's very hard to get refills are to ask for something. We really enjoy the food but service is seriously lacking. Last two times we have eaten here it took a long time for food to arrive and this was after having to wait approximately 15 minutes for a table. Food was very good. Stopped by tonight and were told that it would be a 20 minute wait despite numerous open tables...problem is not enough servers. We were told this is due to numerous reservations. It's really a shame because we enjoy the food but not enough to stand around for 20 minutes to even be seated. If you have children this is just not a practical option...it just takes entirely too long. read more

There's not a ton of dinner options in Traveler's Rest, so I figured it was packed when I came by a few Saturdays ago because of the lack of options. As it turns out, it was packed because it's a great option! There was quite a wait for a table, so I sat at the bar. Both the bartenders were incredibly friendly and helpful. I got the Mahi Fish Tacos with a side of their cinnamon sweet potato chips, and they were both great! (The tacos had a wasabi aioli that was fantastic.) (It was very loud and overcrowded, but hopefully, that's just because there was an NFL playoff game going on). read more

The white wings are a major waste of money, but the food is otherwise very good and I've never noticed any other entree being as skimpy as those. The pork rinds are a great addition to the menu. Just know if you order white wings, you're going to get 3 tiny pieces of chicken wrapped in bacon, so you should probably order something else, too. They were good, but not worth $9. An hour later, our food arrived. Unfortunately, the chicken was still raw and had to be sent back to the kitchen. The food was mediocre and the service poor. We waited for a while to get asked for drinks, didn't receive silverware or napkins until after the appetizer and salad came out.
