This is where it all began. Casual vibe with tasty brews. Doggos welcome. Amazing staff knowledgeable about all the various beers. Fun in the evening with bands and events. Food trucks for tasty vittles. Gotta say you've been here.

Food: 3 stars Service: 4 stars Beer: 4 stars Value: 4 stars Ambiance: 5 stars We came mostly for food, but also enjoyed some beers while eating. We unfortunately weren't overly impressed with the food here, but it was decent! We're definitely spoiled from years of living in California/Hawaii, so I think for the location, the food is great. The Midwest just doesn't do Mexican the same way. Overall, the setting is great and it's a lovely place to grab food and beer during the warmer months.

Huge space and would be a great place to go with a group of friends or family. Nice variety of beers on tap. I have been to the Bellaire location many times but this was my first time to Elk Rapids. Plenty of seating inside as well as excellent patio/outside seating.

Back again! And more unreal beer, so many different fall varieties! New pull barn seats many inside and brings in that juicy light and Lake Michigan views. Cool Short's logo art inside, airy and bright!

Not a lot going on, but that's cool. The area itself was dead when we went (middle of the week, middle of the day), but that was cool. We got a few rounds of cornhole in and tried a couple of their beers. They had a food truck on site, but nothing I could eat. As expected, Short's themselves don't have any food here. They allow brewery tours and that, but we seriously just stopped for a beer and a piss. This place is worth a stop if you're driving to the UP from Traverse City, since it's not really out of the way anyway.. they also offer Short's taproom exclusives you can get to take home.

Enjoyed an awesome walleye sandwich with a side of potatoes from the "Fried" food truck today! Even though they are located an hour away from my home, I will be visiting again and bringing friends!

For crying out loud. The bar is open at 11:00, the food truck at noon. Come on Joe, we're counting on by you to be better at this than most.

We enjoyed a dinner after arriving in town on a recent Friday evening. It was quite busy, and there…read morewas a decent wait, but we passed the time in the beer garden. It was a mixed crowd, with lots of families and young children. I had the Northwoods Blueberry Açaí mineral water while I waited and it was SO GOOD. Once we were seated and placed our order at the bar, the food came out fairly quickly. We had the hummus appetizer, the Rocket and the Three Rivers. I loved the Rocket - I love any pizza with goat cheese! This was a great spot to kick off our vacation with the fam after a long day of travel!

Since they allow dogs, we walked down there and had dinner. We only had a few minute wait so they could set up our table and then we were seated. You order at the counter so we got an order of spinach dip and the one of their flatbread pizzas. The pizza was good! Service was a little slow but it was a Saturday night. Unfortunately we never got our spinach dip. A girl came around and said it was sent out and then given to another table. They also said they'd refund it but I've still yet to see a refund on my credit card. I even asked the bartenders about it and they said they'd take care of it but still nothing. So I guess I'm out the money. I'd recommend d the place but their wait staff seems a bit chaotic and frazzled so I guess just be prepared for that.

I got a few vodka sodas, a fountain coke, and my husband and I shared the giantest (yes it's a word) dish of nachos in the world. They were great. We brought the leftovers home to our in laws and although they were cold and soggy, they got demolished in minutes, ha! The service was efficient. Our server wasn't overly friendly but she wasn't rude either, just wanted to get the job done. Would definitely go back for nachos and a drink!

Yes, as a…read morehometown local I'm a little biased for sure but there is something very genuine and honest about the Pub and the people there. No pretension, no putting on airs or trying to impress anyone, everyone coming as they are. You'll rub elbows with local blue collar and service industry people, trust fund kids, wealthy summer residents, everyday folks of all kinds etc. I think a lot of reviews here are from visitors expecting The Pub to be like the Perry Hotel or one of the more tourist oriented places that bends over backwards and caters to summer vacationers. One even mentioned threatening to "Go ski somewhere else" for not being coddled I guess, which I found hilarious. They also seem to mention food a lot. For what it's worth the food is pretty darn good here, though my experience is usually over some appetizers later at night shared with friends over a few drinks. Solid burgers, can't go wrong with the fish & chips and their cheese curds are surprisingly good, easily rivaling anything you'd find in Wisconsin. That said I've always seen this place as a bar first and a place to drink with friends that just happens to have good late night food too. The service is good and the people working are top-notch and good at their job, but sometimes the Pub can get a bit too busy as there's just not a lot of competition that truly rivals it downtown. That's what happens when barely anything is open late in the post-covid world and businesses seem to be closing left and right. If you can keep your ego in check you'll find a pretty rare and valuable thing here which is a local pub welcoming to anybody and truly reflecting the full breadth of the local community.
