What can I say besides Mmmm...Mmmm..GREAT!!! My husband and I have Never had a bad meal here! How such a fabulous steakhouse ended up in Garrett is beyond me, but sure glad it's there! Tonight I had the Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken drenched in a buttery, cheesy cream sauce with broccoli, baked Russet potato, & side salad. First the salad was anything but a side-perfect blend of salad greens, hard boiled egg, red onion, fresh cherry tomatoes, and freshly/perfectly cooked bacon to top it off! The baked potato was perfectly cooked and boasted the normal offerings of butter and sour cream. Now for the best part... Crisp Prosciutto hugging a juicy & perfectly cooked butterflied boneless chicken breast, with perfectly cooked broccoli, and swimming in the most succulent cream sauce that has ever crossed these lips!!! We ordered the fish sticks as appetizer with tarter sauce that tasted like frosting. I asked for cocktail sauce which tasted like tomato paste with sugar. The fish sticks tasted good. Then for lunch I had the prime rib with bourbon jam and Gouda cheese. Didn't care for it. The coleslaw was terrible full of mayo, no flavor. The service was decent. read more

This is a great find. Had a NY Strip that was done to perfection. Very tender. They have a large choice of sides and everyone that was with us tried something different and we were all pleased. Tried the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and the Chicken Sandwich. Both were excellent. The chicken sandwich is huge. Nice atmosphere with a full bar. Drinks were well made and tasty. Ate there last night, Wednesday. The server was all about getting the women more wine, but paid no attention to the mens empty glasses of water. We ordered the grilled shrimp. It seemed to have no seasoning and did not arrive with any lemon. Asked for lemon but was never served any. The $26 meal came with a small baked sweet potato and a salad. The salad was good. I did not want to create any drama during this meeting with friends so I did not send back the shrimp. Any other time and I would. My friends blue gill fish dinner was nothing to rave about either. He said the fish had little flavor. The flavor seemed to be all breading. Our last experience there, 2019, was no better. We are done spending our $$ here! read more

A nice menu but they seem to miss the mark for a great meal. Not our first visit have eaten there many times always hoping for a bullseye. Still not yet. Had the Friday night special last night of blue gill, fried green beans with hush puppies and a side salad. Green beans were excellent, hush puppies ok, side salad wasn't crisp and bluegill though plentiful was bland. Only option was salt and pepper the table but prefer not to use sodium to make food tastier. No lemon on the plate. Service was very good but when we had to ask for water only 1 glass was brought...2 were sitting at the table! If you want to get a table without waiting get there before 5:45 otherwise they line up real fast as this place is small. This place is always busy but then so is McDonald's drive through. read more

Although quite a ways from our house, we went there with some family members and some friends...I got a burger...It was really good...the rest of our party got steaks..I tasted my Husbands and it was good..They were very crowded and we had to wait about 30 minutes, but it was okay.... Passing thru the area on business and as usual used Yelp to help find a suitable place for dinner. This place is fantastic. Don't let the mom and pop front fool you, this place is worth a stop. The steaks are incredible, I ordered the 6oz filet and it was cooked to perfection. I also got the blue cheese and herb crumbles which were also great. Staff was very friendly. Awesome! I had the appetizers and they were great. My steak was prepared medium well and was moist and flavorful. Not a fan of the ice tea as it was a bit too strong. The facility was clean and the service fast. We arrived about 5:30 pm and there were only a few occupied tables. By the time we left at 7:00 pm the place was packed and the only available seating was at the bar, which shows the locals love the place! read more

Spent a couple days in the area for work. This was a restaurant in the area that looked decent. Immediately after walking in the door I knew I'd found the right place. Greater with a smile quick service. After speaking with the manager it was apparent that everyone employed at this place was contributing to a successful company. Shorty's is a hidden gem in the Auburn/Garrett region. My friends and I go here occasionally, and the food is very good. They have struggled with consistency in the past, but I am hoping this will change under the new owners. I like to order carry out fish from here with fries, slaw, and rolls. Always a decent option. Shorty's specializes in steaks, but everything on the menu is delicious. The atmosphere is busy, but this is expected as most people know this place is well established and makes a superb steak. The decor is a classic bar and family dining area. They also updated the front of the building with the new management. read more

At first thought, maybe a little on the expensive side. Ordered a 12 oz. Ribeye. Cooked to a perfect medium. The rub on it was super flavorful. No A1 needed. Also tried the bbq cheeseburger bacon soup, basically bbq chili, short on bacon. Fresh tossed salad and cheese fries. I stuffed myself before my steak even came. But I ended up eating almost half of it before I left. Juicy, flavorful and thick cut. Excellent and completely worth the price. Beautiful atmosphere. Almost a 50's style diner mixed with a very upperclass bar. Friendly service. Brittany was a perfect server who could explain the food clearly with a smile and made suggestions when asked. This place is like an upscale tavern with fine cuisine! Servers are super friendly and prompt and the entree's are delicious. Local beer on tap as well as craft cocktails and wine options. Reserve ahead of time if you are visiting on a weekend because they fill up pretty fast. read more

Went to visit the Auburn Museum and trekked 10 minutes to try this place out (based on reviews here). It was easily one of the best meals we've had in a while. The tuna app was perfection. The orange ginger salad garnish was like those amazing salads you get in hibachi restaurants. I got the blue cheese crusted filet cooked perfectly rare. Hubs got prime rib, also perfect, hardly any fat!!! Garlic mash was amazing. House chardonnay was even impressive! Have you ever had a meal you don't want to end?! Staff was warm, friendly, engaging, and funny! We like to sit at the bar so we were able to watch the chefs in action. Extra coolness points to the three of them for not only wearing chef coats (classy!!) but for actually coming out to talk to guests. We live 2.5 hours away and landed here on a whim but I can honestly tell you we would trek out here again just to eat. It was really that good. read more

Visited this restaurant last night for my wife's birthday and it was an absolutely awful experience, our server Heather was below average at best, apparently we ruined her rythem by bringing the birthday girl 15 minutes later than the reservation to surprise her so from there on she was absolutely terrible, screwed up several orders took forever to get anything back to us and had a terrible attitude anytime things were asked for, there was 14 of us so I guess that was too much for this restaurant to handle, one of our tables they had us split up into decided to get up to use the restroom and a couple stepped outside, upon there return the so called manager had cleared the table to seat it with some of his friends, dumping my mother's nearly full glass of overpriced wine in the process. When I tried to speak to this manager about it he acted completely rude and indifferent to the situation acting as if I was bothering him, and then as I was walking away proceeded to tell his friends how we were in the wrong, he told me he was the new general manager and a message to the owner, you might want to reconsider, I have been in the restaurant business for over 25 years and this man will not bring you business I can assure you that, to the three owners good luck to you but our large family will never be back and the 300 hundred plus dollars we we spent last night will be the last from us, consider it a charitable donation to a horrible restaurant read more
