Despite the bad reviews here my friends and I had a great time! The bartenders were fast and super nice and we got so many rounds I know we were annoying lol. They even gave me free water bottles when a drunk girl threw her drink on me LOL. The wheel of shots was a fun concept. This was a really cool bar. Came in on a Thursday night around 9- Place was empty so was able to get a few drinks in before place got crowded. Note- don't come here for expensive drinks and scotch. Their vodka of choice is Smirnoff and lucky for you - they have all the flavors. So Co as well. Ok so, the atmosphere and shots were really fun. What truly ruined shot bar for me was a particular slat on the wheel. A shot called "ROOFIE" is an option on the wheel and, honestly, it made me wildly uncomfortable. Date rape is not freakin funny even as a playful shot title. Gross. You want to feel safe in a bar and knowing that the owners and presumably the bar tenders dont take rape seriously is super distracting and scary. I really hope they will soon replace that option because I am sure I'm not the only one who is made uncomfortable. read more

The concept of Shot Bar is fun but they let WAY too many people into the bar that makes the atmosphere pretty terrible. They really pack people in the bar, to the point that guys think it is all good to grind on you as they are walking by trying to get to the bar. Behind the bar there is a spin wheel of shots and I think you can pay a certain price for the shot you spin or if you are unsure of what shot to get. Despite the chaos and crowd the bartenders were surprisingly quick and they definitely seem to get to you quicker if you are a girl trying to order shots. The only shot my friends and I had was blue balls and it was surprisingly good, it went down easy and wasn't overly sweet. Shot Bar is in a good area of Midtown and close to a ton of other bars. If I were on a pub crawl I would hit it up only if it wasn't crazy busy. read more

I still try to go to shot bar every time I'm in Houston visiting even though I don't live there anymore because it was by far one of my favorite bars when I was in college. If you come in at the right times, there are specials on shots, but if you don't come during those times, and you choose to spin the wheel, you can easily get something priced ridiculously lol. Went here last weekend. Ordered drinks and gave the bartender my card to close my tab. When I received the bill it showed drinks and shots that I did not order. I told her and she apologized and said she would cancel the charge and make a new bill with the correct amount. She proceeded to charge my card again. It is too expensive for drinks and it becomes overcrowded. The experience we had was the bartenders have this tendency of taking your card when you want to open a new tab and they will keep your card until you close out. Well, recently, my fiancé tried to close out his tab. Instead of closing out his tab, the female bartender, decided she wanted to lose his credit card and let it go down a faucet drain!!! You read that correctly. When we asked to close the tab, they tried to apologize and say that it was a freak accident. I don't believe it was a freak accident at all. I just believe that these bartenders choose to be careless and reckless when it comes to credit cards. So go somewhere else if you're looking for excellent service. Shot bar has gotten better over the years in letting people in. Back in the days when it first opened up, the bouncers used to be a lot like Gaslamp across the street in being selective on whom they would let in. The only difference is they wouldn't try to charge certain of groups of people to be able to get in. It was either you're in or you're not. I used to hate coming here. A lot. Why? Because it wouldn't matter what I wore, I wouldn't get in. There was always some excuse about what I wore, or about having too many guys in the group, or about my shoes, or something. The only exception is if I came in with a whole bunch of white friends or females. Then no problem there. These days, however. They're a lot more lax in letting people in. No matter what your race is, what you wear (I see guys in t-shirts, shorts, and sandals are allowed to get in these days). I guess they're learning from Gaslamp or they're just not getting that much business anymore. Anyway, once you get in, it's usually fun times inside. I always enjoy myself there.
