Texas style BBQ in Middle TN. I think they moved to this location last year and it's less than 15 minutes from Nashville. It's worth the drive to come and eat here. The staff are friendly and the food is top notch. The man knows how to smoke some meat and the sides are very good, too. They use American Wagyu Brisket and He slices it right in front of you when you order it. You walk in and tell them what you want and they prepare it as you walk down the line to pay for it. They offer Brisket, Pulled Pork, Ribs, 1/2 Chicken, and Beef or Jalepeno Cheddar Sausage Links. This place was nothing short of remarkable. We couldn't get the chicken because they ran out so too bad for us because it looked delicious. The good: Place was clean and had so many things to look at on the walls when we were waiting in line. The line was to the door, sign of some damn great BBQ! The staff. They looked so happy to work there. They wanted to make sure everyone had an enjoyable experience. And they delivered! I wanted the bourbon banana pudding and they were out (to be fair, they close at 3pm and it was 1:15pm when we arrived, and the place was busy even for a Wednesday), they were making a fresh batch and when the person making the batch overheard me trying to order it and them telling me they were out, he yelled out that he was making a fresh batch and would bring it out to me. I would've been devastated (being dramatic) if they didn't have it. I will never be able to eat banana pudding without bourbon again. The meats were beyond exceptional! The fall off the bone ribs were one of the best if not the best ribs I've ever had. The brisket was moist and had a flavorful smoky taste. Best brisket hands down. The beef sausage, the owner took this to an elevated level! How do you elevate sausage? The Mac and cheese had a crazy cheese pull and the potato salad had a nice tough of dill which made it spectacular! Here is where things get even better. The owner was walking around picking up trays and bossing tables. He came over and started chatting with us and had one of the most heartfelt and motivational conversations with us. He was kind, funny, and you could instantly tell why his team was so happy, it is his leadership. He talked about his dream of that restaurant and how it came to be. Beautiful conversation. We stopped in about 25 minutes before close so they were sold out of ribs for the day and nearly out of brisket so my husband snagged the last platter of Brisket while I got a pulled pork sandwich served with Cole slaw on it and pickled red onion and pickles on the side. My side was Texas baked beans. They were good but a bit spicy! I added the jalapeño cornbread for $1 and it was fresh, moist and well worth the addition! My pulled pork was delicious. This was the best BBQ that we had! While a little off the path, it was worth the trip! They had a good range of BBQ dishes and samplers, portions were enough where to fill you up and then some, and prices were reasonable. One of the most original BBQ spots in the Nashville area! Everything on the menu has a unique take on a BBQ classic. For example, the baked beans had a whiskey taste. Each plate comes with two sides. We ordered a pulled pork plate with mac and cheese and cornbread as well as a brisket plate with baked beans and potato salad. We also got a beef sausage to try. Everything was really delicious and fresh. Plates came with complementary pickles and pickled onion, which cut the meaty taste very well. We went around 12:30 on a Saturday. First, LOVE the location, I'm right down the road. Second, the food was amazing. BUT, expensive for what you get. This does seem to be the trend in this neighborhood now. People with a lot of disposable income and all the time I t he world, so when we do get a food place the prices are jacked up sky high. We do not have reasonably priced food in this area, still don't. I'm waiting for a great place with great prices to move in. Some of us have been here for decades and still have to work with very little show for it and need lower priced food options where we do not have to drive out to Madison or further to get it. I went around to two other popular BBQ spots around Nashville and was really disappointed by the dry bbq, especially since I heard that Nashville was known for pork - I already didn't have expectations for the brisket. I'm extremely glad I made the drive here! The brisket, ribs, and pulled pork were surprisingly really good. Both the flat and point were really juicy and had that classic drip when you hang it on your finger and nice pull. The ribs had the perfect bite and was still moist inside. Edley 's, Martin's, Pegleg Porkers doesn't have flavors and meat near the quality and flavor of Shotgun Willies and the sides here are FANTASTIC and unique. First off, none of their meats needed a sauce. This signifies how good the quality of the bbq and rub is. I got ribs, brisket, sausage, and two sides and a banana pudding. The brisket was thick juicy and flavorful. The ribs were out of the world. They were BIG and the rub was delicious. My seams were bursting and I was still trying to stuff more into my stomach. Amazinggg brisket! Super juicy, smokey and flavorful!! My husband tried 3 different brisket restaurants in Nashville and he said this was his favorite! BBQ is tough to judge. Everyone has their own tastes and preferences. For me, I like brisket a little more rare and flavorful, but adding salt, pepper, and their bbq sauce did the trick. I enjoyed the ribs much more, they were perfect and didn't need anything added as they had a really good rub. Their sides lacked for me. The Mac and cheese tasted like macaroni salad with salsa con queso added. It wasn't bad, just not expected. Cornbread lacked as well. The staff was friendly and their merch was cool. read more

Brisket deserves the hype. It was some of the best I've had. Great bark, very juicy, nice portion size. The sides I had left something to be desired. Slaw has core in it and not much flavor. Serving of potato salad was small and when they say "dill", that's an understatement. Cornbread was ok, but nothing to write home about and the banana pudding had a flavoring in it I couldn't place, but didn't enjoy. Brisket plate cost $23 with two sides. Pudding was $5 and drink $2.75. Will be back for the brisket ala carte. read more

I absolutely loved this place!! The staff was super friendly and talked you through the ordering process and there was only a small line when I arrived upon opening. The pork belly burnt ends were available and if you have the chance get them! They were my favorite item- so delicious!! The brisket was well flavored and very tender and honestly I'm surprised they don't sell it for more $. Great value for the combo. The dill potato salad was very good and I felt like had the perfect amount of dill. And the green beans were fantastic! I really liked the regular (non spicy) bbq sauce. Had the perfect tang to complement the meat. I was disappointed in the ribs which were not tender at all and had lots of gristle and small bone chips in them. I understand there will be bones, but there were way more small pieces than any ribs I've ever had. They were also much smaller than any bbq ribs I had in Texas and it was hard to get much meat off. If I had seen them prior to ordering I would have passed on them. I also wished the coleslaw would have had more flavor but it was very bland. I will definitely come back, but wouldn't order either of these items again. Overall - definitely order brisket and pork belly burnt ends! Those were 5 stars! read more

And do not sleep on the jalapeño cheddar sausage. Wow. Really important for me and my wife are the sides. There's no reason to have great BBQ and mediocre sides. This place has very tasty sides. The brisket sandwich was so disappointing. Very very dry and too fatty. At $18 with tax it's by far the most expensive brisket sandwich I've eaten. I can at straight up noon and anticipated a line, full dining room but it was not busy at all. On the plus side the mac and cheese was quite tasty and the people were nice. I wanted to love this but it just wasn't worth the drive or the money. It has a couple of large picnic tables and a couple of booths inside and a lot of picnic tables outside. Then, the decision, what to have. We were debating between the the pulled pork platter or beef brisket platter. The platter gives you a full 1/2 pound of meat & 2 sides. We couldn't decide so we got both and decided to share. So we got a total then of 4 sides to share. We got the green beans, Mac n' cheese, dill potato salad & slaw!! Our favorites were the green beans & mac n'cheese. Yum!! Didn't realize taste a lot dill in the potato salad. I would have a little more dill. I loved the pickled red onions & dill pickles on each platter, crisp & refreshing!! Now, Tony said for $5 we could get a beef sausage with our platter. We thought, let's do it. Da BEST sausage!! Get it. We recommended it to another couple who came in after us and said it was the best too!! Thanks Tony!!!! We got the jalapeño cornbread was $1 extra. It was a bit dry for me, but good. I'm picky.
