I LOVE This place. It's been on my list and I finally got the chance to try it. They were able to get my order ready 30 minutes before schedule and did so with such a pleasant attitude. I didn't expect this at all which was lovely. I just simply let them know I was early and I was told they were happy to have it out in 5 minutes. The sandwich itself was delicious. I got a weekly special which was a tuna and it was fresh and light. For the money, it was a ton of food and I left waddling out. The space itself is great, dog friendly and perfect for a good bite. East Nashville forum brought me here because it was rated one of the best sandwich establishments in east. I must say it did NOT let me down. Be mindful of their hours of operation. I have tried going multiple times prior to this visit under the impression there were open. It's small, quaint, great lighting and clean on the inside. There is seating inside, but minimal. This would be a nice spot to come and grab lunch or even do minimal work being mindful not to take up too much space from other patrons. I wish I could remember the sandwiches I ordered. Can't believe I never knew about this gem in East Nashville. This is a great spot for unique and flavorful sandwiches, opened Thursday-Sunday. The cheddy ranch puffs are a great addition to these yummy sandwiches and the variety of drinks they have to choose from. The inside is fun and vibrant, and the staff are the same! Perfect sandwich shop on a sunny day! There is not a whole lot of inside seating, so my partner and I got a couple sandwiches to split and eat outside at one of their picnic tables. The staff was friendly, and our orders came out pretty quickly. We tried the cluck cluck 3000 and the tribute to Tommy. Both were delicious! The cluck cluck 3000 had the perfect amount of chicken salad loaded on it with fresh toppings and the perfect crunch from the Doritos. I've been to Bill's a couple of times now, and I'm really into their creative sammies and fun branding. It's a small shop with very specific hours, but if you find yourself in this corner of East Nashville on a weekend for an early lunch, Bill's is a great place for a bite. If it's your first visit, I recommend ordering online OR getting there right at 11. Bill's is popular - rightfully so - and they have lots of regulars! Seating inside fills up quickly, but if the weather is nice, you may be able to find a spot on the patio. It's street parking only, but you're usually able to find a spot that's not too far of a walk. Their menu rotates, so you'll want to double check what sandwiches they're featuring before stopping in if you're looking for something in particular. We've tried a few of their handhelds, and our favorite so far is the Chopped Cheese. We are frequent visitors of Bill's. Every one of their sandwiches are perfection. We have tried the mystery sandwich multiple times and have not been disappointed yet. The seating area inside is limited, but there are outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas to enjoy your meal. The staff is always super friend and accommodating, and the wait time has stayed speedy (even when they are dealing with a lunch rush). 4.5 I finally* made it to Bill's! I'd long seen the photos and heard the stories. But the errant hours mocked me and kept me away. Finally, I'd had enough. I waited for the perfect late winter Saturday early afternoon and I made my move. That move was an online order. Y'see, during those days, Bill's operated in a pop-up virtual space. Check the menu. See what was still available. Race to put in your order and hope that nothing had changed within those milliseconds. Being that Bill likes to experiment with flavors and recipes, I decided to get out of my own way and see what was what. My only hard and fast rule was a sandwich without too much (any?) mayonnaise. That isht is nasty af. Always. Luckily, I found a mustard-based sandwich. I was all in. I was getting the order to go so no need for a side or drink. But, I figured, since I was already ordering, I might as well get a sweet treat. Done. Ordered and tipped, I made my way over to Inglewood and walked in like a boss. The operation was smaller and quieter than I expected but that's just the signs of a well-oiled machine. I sauntered in, confirmed my name and order, received a giant paper bag of food, and I was on my way. It was that easy. I raced home, got a plate to put my goodies on top of, cracked a cold beverage and got to eating. Wow! My sandwich of the day was the Hoosier Pork Schnitzl #2. As I native Kentuckian, I have a natural avoidance of most things Hoosier. It's a thing. But even an Indy hater knows that famous nature of the Indiana pork tenderloin sandwich. After a good while savoring my sandwich (and drinking a heavily carbonated alcoholic beverage to kill the mayo cooties), I set my sights on the sweet part of my meal. My oversized Sugar Danny X BSP Coffee Cookie was a brilliant way to end my lunch. Coffee-infused toffee, Mr. Aarons** Hachi Machi beans and good ol' brown butter. Again, a nice mix of flavor and texture and size. What sounded like it could have been a basic cookie had a surprising amount of depth to it. With a walk up counter, the ordering process is quick. The staff was knowledgeable on the menu items, and there are a handful of seating options indoor and out. The sandwiches were really good!! You could tell they were constructed with quality ingredients. They had good balance of soft, crunchy, saucy. Unfortunately for us, $30 for two sandwiches and one bottle of water is too much to spend to enjoy Bill's on a regular basis. They were packed when we arrived in the afternoon. I got a mystery sandwich and husband got K+K Tomato sandwich. Surprise! I got a roast beef sandwich and it was super delicious. So I want to take off a star because they're not open every day all day. In fact they're only open from 11-3 Thursday to Sunday (closes at 2 on Sunday). That's the only "bad" thing I can think of. Ok I know I'm in the minority here because Bill's has great reviews but my husband and I were both incredibly disappointed. We got the sesame schnitzel and the texture of the chicken was extremely off putting. First, it wasn't pounded thin like a schnitzel and the meat was so strange...like rubbery but soft...it felt like it was uncooked but I could see that it wasn't. The sour cream was a strange choice too since it was just plain and drowned out the little bit of flavor that the sauce gave it. The bread was good.
