I ordered the fish + chicken combo, and chose fries and potato salad as my sides. Overall, the food itself was very good. And service was great. The restaurant forgot my potato salad, I called them to let them know. They drove to my hotel nearby and delivered the potato salad (thanks for Freddie for driving out). Not undercooked, not overcooked, but an unpleasant texture and taste. It's hard to put a finger on. The fries and jalapeño poppers were fine but the burgers were awful. Sorry, just my personal opinion. They tasted like Wal-Marts Bubba Burgers and were chewy/gummy. I think she oversold the spice levels but that might be the safest bet to keep people satisfied. I got the medium and it wasn't spicy at all in my opinion but good flavor. The food was piping hot and delicious. My hubby ordered the catfish and I had the Nashville Hot Wings- 8 count. The wings were large, crispy and juicy. It wasn't very spicy, but is was oh so flavorful. I got blue cheese dressing with it. I could tell it was jarred dressing, so I didn't use much of it, I really prefer house made dressing. I paired it with some potato salad. The potato salad was good, not phenomenal. Service: Fantastic! Overall food is great. I recommend the fried mushroom, it has the right amount of crunch and not too greasy at all. The wings were delicious- Nashville hot. Kids liked the burger and Mac and cheese. Because it was made fresh it took a little bit of time to prepare however I'm happy to wait for fresh made food any time. The sammich came on a nice bun. The chicken was super flavorful, super moist, and the spice level was perfect. A really solid chicken tender. The waffle was underwhelming unfortunately. I'm glad to have another hot chicken spot in Donelson. The food is good and the service was friendly and quick. I love spicy food and eat it daily, so this hot chicken wasn't as spicy as I prefer. It could also have used a bit more non-spicy seasoning. The fries were seasoned plenty, and strangely, the white bread under the chicken was the best I've ever tasted at a hot chicken place. The reviewer who felt that this was hotter than Prince's has a completely different palate than mine. I regularly get Prince's XX hot, and Hella Hot here wasn't remotely close to it. What made it a "1" for us was that it was clear that the mustard on most of the tables had gone bad. At first I thought it was a special sauce in a mustard bottle, until I noticed that two tables had regular looking yellow mustard. It might be time for an inspector to check-up. I give this dining establishment a 4 1/2; please allow me to share the 2 reasons. Before dropping our daughter-in-law off at a nearby hotel, near BNA, my wife and I, along with our daughter-in-law, had already decided that we wanted a "Change of Pace" of dining fare. I asked the receptionist at the hotel about various nearby dining options and after providing several options, we settled on the Hella location, on Donelson Pike, near BNA; primarily to try some local Nashville Hot chicken and such. As we entered, we were immediately greeted by the 2 owners/proprietors and welcomed us into their establishment and asked how they could serve us. After several minutes of Q&A, we made our decisions which consisted of different flavors of wings and tenders, accompanied by a side order of Fried Broccoli. During our Q&A, we asked, if, by any chance did they serve: Celery Sticks....No. Dipping Sauce, Blue Cheese...Yes. We paid for our order, sat down and within several minutes, our order was delivered. During the process of eating I made the observation that the Blue Cheese was rather bland and not the snappy, tangy Blue Cheese that I was expecting. A bit disappointed, but, nevertheless, we still enjoyed the food. In closing, in spite of not serving several sticks of celery to accompany the wings and tenders, as well as the bland Blue Cheese, these "condiments" were not "Deal Breakers". If we ever return to that area again, we would most assuredly patronize this establishment: Excellent Customer Service Excellent Food Quality Excellent Portion Sizes A final word, if they read this review, I would like to encourage them to seek another source which offers a better grade/taste of Blue Cheese. This is definitely a hole in the wall place in a small strip of businesses including a taco food truck I had to drive around in the parking lot. I ordered the chicken sandwich spicy with fries and a coke. 8-10 minutes later my meal came out and it did not disappoint. Sandwich was big and Hella Hot and spicy. The fries had a bit of the hot spice too. The guy I assume was the owner was very nice too.
