There's a speakeasy in Big Fork? Say no more! I guess when you're googling it yelping for speakeasies, they aren't the real ones since everyone knows about it. I believe it was originally 1908 speakeasy and now they changed it to Showthyme Act II. Located downstairs in Showthyme's basement, this cool little bar seats about 15 people max. B very cozy but we came early enough that we could sit at the bar. We tried calling making reservations a couple of times but they were busy. Best to just show up early. When they announced that there were just a couple of elk ribeyes left, I had to be the one that got at least one of them! When it was served, the elk was piled with potatoes and mushrooms covered in some sort of gravy.if I'm ordering an elk ribeye, I'm expecting a chunk of meat on my plate. The elk was actually sliced in small pieces and maybe a total of 8 pieces. Really disappointed with this since it's $55 for this meal and it wasn't filling or fulfilling. The servers also told us to try the deconstructed beef Wellington, but after this experience, I'm sure it's a couple of rice cakes between a slice of roast beef. While staying in Big Fork, we were recommended this spot as a local favorite. We called day of to make a reservation. The place is cozy and there is also a speakeasy bar in the basement that serves food as well. We tried the kombucha which was light in fermentation but still refreshing. For an appetizer, we got the wild mushrooms by popular review. The mushrooms really shined in their earthiness and I liked the variety, but perhaps a little too doused in oil and a little pricey at $16. It came with a puff pasty which was super flakey and was a nice addition to the dish. For mains, we got the prime rib and the elk steak. The prime rib was a decent size, slightly over medium rare. The horseradish sauce was very strong (and delicious). Another star part of the dish was the maple candied carrots, adding a delicious sweet element. The Elk was cooked medium rare and was also nicely portioned. It was paired fingerling potatoes and stir fry garlic spinach. I think the oil was a little heavy here too but the meat itself was cook. There was also huckleberry reduction spread on top, but it didn't have too much flavor. Overall, the meal was good, worthy of 4 stars. The dining area had a nice ambience and I really like the stained glass windows. It did take a bit between courses but the whole meal was still about 2 hours and the staff were really friendly. read more

While the server was great, the food was pathetic. You would get a better meal from dairy queen or harvest foods. Charcuterie board was decent, I guess. After that our meal went downhill and fast! Black Garlic Chicken tasted like something you would get from the frozen microwave dinner aisle. Overcooked, rubbery, flavorless. I felt like I was chewing on seasoned silly putty. The potatoes it came with were forgettable, but the 3 mushrooms you included were cute. Montana rib of beef was sad that it ended its promising life in this way. Beef was somehow dry (I didn't think you could ruin wagyu that badly) and overseasoned. I'm assuming to try and cover up your low quality, flavorless beef. Go for the food. Period. Local, tourist, no matter. We were a party of four and intentionally ordered four different apps and four different entrees and tried everything. Everything was excellent and everyone had food envy of each other. We have had lobster bisque at many of the best restaurants across the country and this might have been the second best ever! This was my first time having Elk of any kind and the fillet was phenomenal. And the shrimp and grits! Wow. Had like a jerk seasoning added. So good. And so surprising for this far north. I ordered the Seared Florida Red Snapper with grilled asparagus & couscous. The snapper was flaky, moist & fresh. It was seared hot and perfectly seasoned. The grilled asparagus stole the show. Grilled, seasoned & slightly crispy: they were scrumptious. A nice wine pairing finished the wonderful meal. My friend ordered the pork chops called Iberico Bellota Chuletero. The 2 pork chops were moist & flavorful. The bacon brussel spouts were just right. Try the Into The Woods cocktail for something different. Finally... don't forget to try the bread pudding. I don't give out 5 stars, but this was amazing. Start with a fabulous cocktail. I'd recommend you start with the "Thyme after Time" cocktail with whiskey and candied lemon. Then you must have the Blackened Jamaican En Salad. It is a life changing dish. Don't think you should grill lettuce? You're wrong. Finish off with the Act II, local gin with just the right amount of sweet. You won't regret this evening. We arrived in Bigfork after driving all day, late, hungry, needing good food and good wine and a welcome, and Show Thyme delivered on all counts. They admitted at the outset that they were short-staffed, and some menu items were unavailable but you know what? They seemed happy to see us. The food was okay at best and waited over an hour for our food. We had to ask multiple times for drinks and to-go boxes. The waitress, Leanna, (after she incorporated our tip in the bill) was extremely rude and told us that we should have informed her prior to ordering that our party of 9 wanted separate checks. Let me tell you about the forest mushrooms. If you love mushrooms, you simply should not leave Bigfork without trying this Forest Mushroom appetizer. It was... well...close your eyes and picture the earthy, wild mushrooms sauteed with garlic and olive oil just cooked before wilted. Then lay them gently on a bed of amazing cheesy goodness and a perfectly puffed pastry. Gosh, I could go back again. My brother in law ordered pork belly with Huckleberry sauce which was also tasty. For dinner, our table had an assortment of Buffalo Ribeye, prime rib, pork chops with farro, lobster bisque, caprese salad, Caesar salad, the gorgonzola Mac and cheese as well as the kids five cheese. It was all quite divine and a perfect end to a fantastic visit to Bigfork. Our only mewh was the Caesar which was okay, but not memorable. I mean, I'm sure I'll be talking about the mushrooms until we get back here. Each taste was delightful and we saved room for a brownie Sundae (not me) and a chocolate chip bread pudding with a meringue top and Bigfork Cherry sauce (uh me). Wow. The flavor car together so nicely and the portion was huge even split between two people. A must stop in Bigfork!! First of all one waiter - felt so bad for him but he was burning rubber!!!! The mushrooms and the whipped feta appetizers were amazing! The prime rib was good - hard to ruin prime rib! The shrimp and grits not so much - the creole sauce was way too acidic - maybe too much vinegar? Blackened chicken was okay- a chicken Marsala or Picatta would serve them better. The New Zealand deer was too game and extremely hard to cut! Might be better off serving good ole Montana deer filet :). The side dishes that accompanied the main dishes were good! Close the curtain on Act II... such a disappointment. Not the Showthyme you remember. Not . Even. Close. My steak and shrimp was cold (and over cooked); they ran out of bread at a 6 pm sitting...they added shrimp to an order that specifically said "no shrimp" and the breadcrumbs on top of the Mac and cheese tasted like ground up Cheetos. The server cut off my Dad mid-order to answer another servers question. Please oh please bring back the Showthyme we remember! And in this day and age-menu should be updated.? And I feel for them as small biz is hard! But as a small biz owner, when you get two pieces of negative feedback at the table, you get your butt out there and listen... go ahead... let your server try to recover for you. We went last weekend and it was excellent. We started with the Caesar salad which was wonderful. My husband had the prime rib and it literally melted in your mouth. I am not much of a beef eater but I kept steeling bites it was so good. The flavor was delicious. I had the chicken dish with spinach and potatoes in a wonderful sauce. It was delicious also. My husband had a few bites of mine and said he might order it next time he liked it so much. We also ordered a side of the beet & asparagus with whipped goat cheeses and it was tasty to. I think next time I will ask for a little balsamic to drizzle on it though. I love balsamic with beets. Can't wait to go back and try the grilled lettuce surf and turf next time. I was offered the "special" - Wagu beef, which I ordered rare - and what I got was a dark (no pink) slab of meat that was full of bone and gristle. This for $42. I was furious, but we were in a bind because it was late and there was no other restaurant open. The other dinner was veal (maybe) and it was tasteless. Have delicious memories of Showthyme from years ago and was super excited to dine there again! We were not disappointed and enjoyed everything from the Montana grown mushrooms appetizer to the meringue topped bread pudding for dessert! The blackened halibut was cooked to perfection and a most delicious mango salsa paired most beautifully with it! My mom and I went to Glacier NP. A friend of mine recommended this place, and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed that it had 4 stars when there were several other restaurants in the area that had 4.5. But I felt I needed to go due to the personal recommendation. We were so pleasantly surprised! We got the shrimp and grits and the prime rib. The portions were super generous, and the shrimp was so plump and fresh. And the prime rib (we got the 14 oz to share) - so tender and tasty! Needless to say, there were no leftovers. My wife and I decided to try out this new restaurant tonight and all that I can say is wow. The food was amazing and prices very reasonable for fine dining. The history in the building was highlighted, lighting was nice, guitarist was playing and the overall ambiance was relaxing, well layed out and inviting. The staff brought some of the best food service that we have had, with very friendly, prompt and caring servers. The chef is to be commended on the food quality and creativeness and the taste was fantastic. My wife had a pasta dish made from in house noodles that was delicious and I selected the Caribbean surf and turf salad (see pic) that is a large section of roasted romaine lettuce with skewers of large grilled shrimp and the most amazing sushi grade beef filet pieces that just melted in my mouth. I cannot say enough good things about this establishment and the owner actually sat at our table for a time visiting and giving us a history on how they came to start this top notch restaurant in Bigfork, MT. We don't normally order dessert but decided to try something new and selected the flourless cake that I understand is an award winning dessert. It did not disappoint at all and was an amazing mix of crunch, sweet, chocolate ganache and apricot. There aren't many restaurants in the Bigfork area and especially finer dining but with a family atmosphere. We will definitely be frequenting Showthyme Act II often and will let all of our friends know what an experience this was. Very pleased and if we could rate this establishment with a 10 rating we would do so. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice dinner or family get together. read more
