Enjoyed our meal here when I dined in October! Arrived right when they opened since I didn't have reservations and was able to be seated. Heard from our Airbnb host, you'll have to get there early or have a reservation. Inside has an old Christmas cottage vibe to it. Kinda dark with Christmas lights along the fireplace and around the entire restaurant even though it was October. It's quite charming. The free rolls they give out while you wait for your food was ok. They're just basic rolls with butter. Food wise, we got the cocktail shrimp. Was pleasantly surprised since there's no ocean around. The texture of the shrimps was firm and had a nice bite to them. Prime rib - not too bad! Got a medium rare but felt it could have been a little more rare. You have a choice for a side and I chose a baked potato. Comes with butter and sour cream. For an 8oz. cut the price was definitely not bad for it at all! They have bigger cuts but 8 oz. was plenty for me. Lastly, got the exotic trio plate. The plate was pretty meaty and everything was pretty good. Comes with duck, quail and Buffalo filet. All 3 were cooked pretty well!

In Kalispell with friends for a short break that encompasses one birthday and one anniversary. This was the restaurant chosen for the birthday and what a fantastic choice it was. Picture a steakhouse restaurant back a couple of decades when folks cared more for the flavor and experience than the calories and trends. This is Jagz! Fabulous King Salmon with a Chardonnay cream sauce, King Crab legs, a massive pork chop swimming in an apple brandy cream sauce so rich it could have been the meal itself, and a senior prime rib for the only one who could restrain himself at the table. The question being, how were these decadent meals? One word can sum them all up... FAN-FLIPPING-TASTIC! So much so, we're returning next week! If you only enjoy the trendy or bland foods of today or if you are on a strict low-calorie diet, this place may not be for you... however if you occasionally yearn for comfort foods of days gone by, the rich, artery clogging, flavor filled, politically incorrect foods of yesteryear, this place should be next on your list!

Not impressed. It took over an hour to get our food and the food wasn't hot. Some steaks were good and others were not.

We started with the appetizer special, a pear and feta salad, then split the bison short ribs and shared the lemon blueberry tart for dessert. I would happily go back for any one of those dishes. We arrived shortly after six on a Monday evening, easily found parking and, while about half the tables were full, we were seated quickly. Our waiter was kind but seemed nervous, reading the specials from a note pad. We started with sourdough and an order of calamari (yes, I know there isn't fresh squid within a hundred miles, it's one of our "always order to see what's up" dishes). Bread came out quickly with olive oil, balsamic, and some minced garlic - quite nice. A few minutes later, calamari - lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and a bit bland. It felt like they'd perfectly executed their vision, but it could've used a bit more seasoning to my taste. No tarter or other sauce, but a half lemon and some pickled sweet peppers. I ordered the bison burger and my wife went with the walleye. My burger was medium rare, as ordered, but the bottom bun was soggy and everything was buried in the thinly sliced red onion. It was fine but sadly forgettable other than having to slurp slices of onion after each bite. My wife raved about her walleye though, basically describing it as elevated nostalgia. It took her back to days of fishing on the lake with her family as a girl, but perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We finished with an espresso crème brûlée, which took about 20 minute after our meal to arrive. Apparently the chef was newer and accidentally put pistachios on the brûlée, as we got the last espresso and the next batch was pistachio flavored. We didn't mind, but it had the thickest crust I've ever seen on a brûlée - probably an eighth inch thick. It took two solid whacks to break through and was so thick it felt more like a burnt caramel. The crème itself was lovely but, as someone who prepared hundreds of brûlées in an earlier job and has eaten many since, it was sadly overshadowed by far too much sugar on top. It was an overall pleasant experience but honestly I owe much of that to the company of my wife. If we go back, the only thing we'd reorder is the sourdough to start. My wife loved her fish but still said she'd try something else next time.

It felt a little like we were bugging them to ask about it them. The restaurant definitely feels like it used to be a Perkins or Elmer's or other sort of diner. They've tried to level up with linen tablecloths and napkins, Italian music and a color scheme. It's workable. The pricing is a little higher than what you would expect given the environment but the food was decent. I have one complaint - they serve sliced white bread - like wonder bread - in a basket with oil and vinegar. It just doesn't match the vibe or flavors or textures you would expect. As a sourdough baker this felt lacking. Otherwise kudos. I've heard nothing but good things from friends in the area too.
