The live music was incredible, the guy playing the sax really knows how to jam. The dancers and musicians were performing together, and did several shows! There's this magical connection between a musician and a dancer that you see and feel as they improvise and work the crowd, the stage, and the whole venue. In between performances there was social dancing, with a lot of great dancers dressed to the nines. The birthday cake performance is something you got to see and experience, totally off the charts, like something you'd see in a movie! The final performance is with a giant martini glass. The girl dances around/in the glass filled with water and then pours champagne all over herself. One of the most wild over the top things I've ever seen! The energy and vibes were off the hook! I highly recommend this for couples that want a special date night, large groups that want a unique experience/entertainment, and people who want to celebrate their birthday in style.

I don't know if I went to the show with too high of an expectation, but the truth is, I didn't walk away being fully blown away. I was adequately entertained, but not at the level that I came to expect from cabaret or burlesque shows in general. It's probably important to preface that I am more accustomed to seeing big production versions of shows in the same vein, such as Zumanity, in Las Vegas setting. And while I do realize entertainment of that caliber is in a different ballpark altogether, it's difficult not to compare. Billed as a homage to Tarantino films, which I know just (barely) enough to appreciate the many reference of the show, Tarantina is still a very grounded cabaret show at heart, and only superficially dipped in the Tarantino universe icing. If you're expecting it to be a movie celebration extravaganza, which I kinda did, you may be a little bit disappointed. If you're just there for a good time, to observe some talented ladies (and one token well-toned, constantly shirtless dude) perform, while you sit back and relax with a drink, this show delivers enough. The ticket price was... eh. VIP was too expensive, I wouldn't recommend anyone getting it. The GA, at $39 or so per person, including fees and all that, was a bit on the high side still, imho. I don't want to take anything away from the performers of the show, for I know all of them are disciplined artists that probably trained for their crafts with much time and dedication; nonetheless, I've just seen better, and some of them really failed to impress audience like me. Once you've seen the same tricks, but done arguably better, you'll probably feel the same. Not to be a total Debbie Downer, I do want to emphasize, there were definitely moments that I much appreciated: the MC was positively well cast. She was entertaining, one of the best parts of the show, and all she did was talk into the microphone... *with undeniable charisma*. The way she introduced each subsequent act, with brief explanation of which Tarantino film it related to, JUST FANTASTIC. I could hear her talk on and on. The one buff dude that was the token eye candy for the ladies and gay dudes, who doubled as prop master, who carried essential equipment on and off stage, was also a blessing. Of the acts that I got to see, (sadly I had to leave early due to work the next day, the show's being shown on a Thursday night and all), some were really good. Some were not so good. I do wanna list out some of the more memorable ones that I thought were worth your undivided attention. There was someone who danced with a python, along with some fire stunts. That screamed prime Britney, and therefore I ate that sh*t up. In fact, any time special flame effects were used, those were quite awesome. The ladies who exposed their perfect... uh... "female form", as the club called it, carried out a tasteful and sexy performance. Visually stunning, it was 1 of more memorable moments. There's a pure dance number, accompanied by "California Dreamin'", that was choreography heaven. It provided glimpses of what a professional dance number should look like. The fan blowing was a nice touch. As some put it, it was like watching "Dancing with the Stars". Finally, the Gogo Yubari number was also top-notched. Side note: if you're looking to see some serious boobage, then please be aware, and I quote from the MC, "this is a cabaret, and not a burlesque show". Frontal nudity is only occasionally featured. Of things that I didn't mention, some were still good. I just can't recall them off the top of my head right now. In contrast, remaining others were ok/mediocre, and a select few were sub-par. Had the pricing been lower, or had every single act been consistently solid, the act would've merited at least 4 stars from me. But right now, I would rate it 3.5 stars, but closer to the rounded 3 stars mark. I do, however, fully acknowledge that I might've missed some really great parts that were shown after my departure. The costume contest after the show, for instance, would've been wonderful to witness since some patrons were rocking some movie-grade wardrobes from the iconic films. (And just quickly circling back to the theme: if the costumes for the show, the decorations, and the routines were more heavily inspired & influenced by the Tarantino films, it would probably have pushed the ratings higher also. But hey, they did get the music/soundtracks right.) Overall, I see a show that has room for improvement, run by a group of individuals that could be showcased more properly with some better directions. But who cares what I think? Plenty of people in the audience were clearly enjoying themselves immensely. So go see for yourself instead. As a fun Thursday night on the town in the greater city of LA, it might just be enough.

Clearly they did not pay to sit there and I am still peeved about that. I would not pay for a loveseat again since anybody can just sit there if it's empty and nobody will call you out for it. I decided to treat myself and buy a loveseat ($80ish) so that I wouldn't be squished with other people and I just hope that this doesn't happen to anybody else. I kind of regret buying it because of that. The show was entertaining though and the drinks were good. The ambiance is nice.

There were signs all over stating that it was public parking; we had a miscommunication with the black rabbit rose so we arrived too early so we went to go eat at another location as they weren't open yet - as I went to move my car - a lady there accosted us saying we needed to pay since we parked there. I noticed then that all the signs were now missing. She said I needed to pay or she'd call the cops. Luckily, I have cameras on my vehicle and I told her so; that I could prove the signs were there and to go ahead and call the cops, at which she yelled at us to leave and if she ever saw me again, she'd tow my car. I moved it to the lot around the corner which was $20 - but felt so much safer. - Review of black rabbit rose - The magic show on Thursday was so much fun. The magician was funny and the clairvoyant was very entertaining. We were at the very front and had to keep scooting our chairs to turn around because they do go all over the room to include everyone, which might make the chairs a bit loose, so be careful. The drinks were great - we got the dark arts & it did not disappoint; we prefer our drinks light with more cranberry flavor so they were just right. Not super huge but it wasn't overtly packed with people sitting / waiting for the show. We went on a Thursday night. The magic showroom was comfortable. We were sat on the wall booth which was a little hard to see at sometimes bc people were one in front of the other and not really staggered but the performers did move throughout the room. I'll review them separately. Brown Betties: When was the last time you saw an amazing burlesque show?? If you haven't seen the Brown Betties, you are in for a TREAT!! The writing, acting, singing, and dancing were spectacular! I loved the show because their talent held the audience's attention while capturing many of the experiences men and women have in relationships, and giving fair attention to both. My friend and I left raving about the show, and telling our friends not to miss out when they have another chance to attend! My only advice is that I would get the dinner/seat reservations in advance if they are available...the food was excellent, and the show is even more enjoyable with a seat!! I would definitely attend again in the future, and hope new shows are offered. These incredibly talented women provide entertainment with a twist in all the right places! BYOB (Be Your Own Betty): The Brown Betties hosted a wonderful private party for my birthday a few days after their show. Having seen their moves on stage, I knew I would not be disappointed! However, my expectations were exceeded! They were professional, reaching out to me before the event to answer questions, help with advertising, and asked for my preferences regarding refreshments (which were amazing!!). On the day of the event, they came early to set everything up, and did a beautiful job transforming our space. The women were very gracious, and my friends quickly felt comfortable with them. They did a spectacular job of leading us through exercises that had a profound impact on how we viewed ourselves as women--my friends are still talking about this experience to this day! They also taught us routines and moves that helped us find our "Inner Betties". Finally, they had a few tricks up their sleeves to make sure we would never forget this day, and that the lessons we learned would help make us better women to ourselves. At the end, I felt that the entire experience was entertaining and personally valuable...reflecting lessons and experiences I wanted to share with my friends...I didn't have to do any of the heavy lifting for my party, and was able to truly enjoy it as a guest! I recommend the BYOB experience for a special birthday, ladies night, bachelorette party, or whatever you have in mind. Gather your friends, then call Brown Betties...these women have it covered!!!

Upon entering I was very impressed with the ample cocktail style seating and large stage the venue offered. It actually had a supper club feel, once the host and the live band took to the stage. I signed up for the open mic, and and had a wonderful experience reciting my poem. I have been a repeat guest ever since. The artist that performed were very talented. The show was interactive and entertaining, as the host has the audience participate in games and activities throughout the night. My favorite is where the DJ and the band battle each other. In this game, the audience picks a song and the DJ has to play the song on the turn tables, and then the band has to play the same song with their instruments or vice versa. The audience then votes for either the DJ or the band. Can I just say "AMAAAZING!!!" The open wine and vodka bar was a great BONUS. There is a suggested tip of $4.00 for premium liquor, such as tequila. Where else can you get a Margarita for under $5.00? My suggestion is to bring cash or drink wine or vodka, if you don't want to give the bartender a decent tip for a free drink. I definitely recommend The Red Light Lounge to anyone looking for a GREAT evening . I'll be celebrating my birthday there in November with friends and family. Don't take my word for it...come out and see for yourself. Hope to see you there!

However, non-members can attend if they accompany a member or receive a pass from a kind magician. I've been here numerous times over the years. I've known members and people that worked here. I've seen amazing shows in the main room & fun shows in the parlors. I've been for dinner & brunch. This time I came with friends for drinks & fun. The Castle is big and there is so much to discover. It's charming & mysterious. Take your time and soak it all in. Grab a drink in the main bar, have a seat in Invisible Irma's Room, and ask her to play you a tune on the piano. The magicians are world class performers with unique talents. House magician Mike is darling and he dazzled us with card tricks, mentalist David Stryker wowed us with his mind reading capabilities, and Richard Turner amazed us with his ability to perform card tricks even though he is legally blind. The staff here are all fantastic and work well together. (Especially, Rose at the front desk.) We were treated with kindness & respect the entire evening. Food & cocktails are top notch. We shared Hummus that came with the softest pita bread, Shrimp Cocktail with large juicy shrimp, House Made Veggie Burger with Beer Battered Fries, and the Four Cheese Garlic Bread. Everything was delicious. For drinks we had: Smoke & Shadows (Mezcal Margarita), Cosmopolitan, Champagne, Manhattan, Perfect Timing (Vodka based), and Caymus Cabernet. A night at The Magic Castle is always a fun time and I think everyone should have the opportunity to experience it at least once. The dress code is strictly enforced and I'm ok with that. I appreciate that they adhere to the standards of the exclusivity of a private club. I also believe that if you are going out you should dress up. *No photography allowed inside. *Check website for dress code, valent, & entrance fee.

This iconic Hollywood establishment is famously known for its secrecy and exclusivity, and after finally experiencing it for myself, I completely understand why. Hidden behind the mysterious entrance are some of the most talented magicians and performers you'll ever encounter. Many of them audition for the honor of performing there, and the level of talent throughout the evening was honestly incredible. We're fortunate enough to have a friend who is a member, and although we've been invited before, life always seemed to get in the way. This time, we cleared our schedules and made a full evening out of it and I'm so glad we did. We arrived around 5 PM, valet parked, and checked in with the maître d'. Since guests must be connected to a member, everyone had to be on the guest list and show ID before entering. One thing I absolutely loved was how seriously they take the dress code. Think black tie, cocktail dresses, suits, polished shoes; elegant and classy without feeling stuffy. No flashy outfits or over-the-top looks, just timeless sophistication. Once inside, you're immediately transported into another world. The entrance area has a charming little gift shop with T-shirts, magnets, playing cards, and magic-themed souvenirs. One of the coolest things I learned during the night was that Walt Disney was close friends with the founder of The Magic Castle, which inspired the magic shop on Main Street at Disneyland. As a Disney fan, I thought that was such a fun piece of history. And then comes the famous entrance. You stand before a bookcase, say "Open Says me " to the little owl, and suddenly the hidden door opens into the castle itself. It honestly felt like stepping into a movie. The castle is filled with multiple levels, intimate showrooms, hidden corners, bars, lounges, and surprises everywhere you turn. We ended up seeing five different magic shows throughout the evening, and every performer brought something unique. Some acts were funny, others mind-blowing, and a few genuinely left me speechless wondering how on earth they pulled things off. There's a bar on nearly every level, each with its own vibe. One of my favorite spots had close-up card magic happening right at the bar while people enjoyed drinks and appetizers. Speaking of food, surprisingly phenomenal. We had the chicken club sandwich, calamari, and garlic bread, and everything exceeded expectations. The customer service throughout the entire evening was stellar. Every single employee we interacted with was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. It also felt very community-oriented, everywhere we went, people greeted our member friend like family. The entire environment felt intimate, nostalgic, and special in a way that's hard to explain unless you experience it yourself. One thing I also learned is that there are a few other ways to gain access besides knowing a member. If you stay at the Magic Castle Hotel bungalows, admission is often included, and occasionally they offer admission opportunities through blood donation events. If you ever come across an opportunity to visit , take it immediately. The Magic Castle isn't just dinner and a show. It's an experience. There's truly surprise and wonder around every corner, and for a few hours, you genuinely feel transported away from reality. An unforgettable Los Angeles experience and absolutely something everyone should experience at least once in their life.
