Kulak's Woodshed is a live music event venue, video recording and private music recording space. It's limited capacity, intimate and thoughtful. Brought to life by Paul Kulak, a local indie thoughtful big in stature and heart man whose love of music, sound and visuals brought this space in to existence at the tail end of the 1990s. A space for musicians to thrive, from grammy winners to new to expressing their gifts. I've passed the Woodshed many times in my 15 years in the SFV, but only recently started to enjoy it including their live webcasts and concerts via Facebook Live. Offering greatness on Laurel Canyon between Magnolia Blvd/Weddington Street, mere steps aways from my favorite local art supply store Carter Sexton. It's in a of creativity, expression and artistic joy. Check out their Mondays, musicians can sign up by 7pm for Singer/Songwriter Open Mic. Mostly supported by Paul's hard work, incredible volunteers and audience donations. It's an all welcoming, all ages, all genres and styles of music space. Beverages, snacks and conversations are all self served. Pet friendly environment, but good to be mindful others especially with allergies. Street parking is your friend, though if you don't mind a stroll parking a little further can be easier especially at night, rideshare or even metro as it's less than half a mile from the nearest station. They do not allow any alcohol, recreational or hard substances inside. It's indie, it's music, it's Kulak's Woodshed.

It's not a big cover charge so not sure why anyone would complain about supporting local talent...just sayin... This used to be my spot! If you like live music, be sure to check out their blues night. Get there EARLY! Camp out at the bar and save your seat because it's about to be standing room only. You can reserve a table in advance. If you miss a live music night, just purchase some points for the jukebox. Smoking section outside, no food, but feel free to bring your own. There's pizza, sushi, and sandwiches in the same plaza, so you're set! A staple of the valley! If you go, order a Dark and Stormy for me!

I actually had to walk out at one point because my ears felt like they were going to explode. I know they had a sound guy there, but the place is SO small, maybe not the best venue for a punk band. Ha! The barback here was so well dressed and sweet. Bartender was quick and friendly. Cocktails and wine selections are very meh, but I had a whiskey and that worked out for me. Lots of high top tables, a decent amount of seats at the bar, and a pool table. There is also a small patio if you want to hang outside. The Maui Sugar Mill is in a strip mall, so plenty of parking available!

It is a great intimate venue with lots of history and great sound. We parked about a half mile away and a public lot by the West Hollywood library, parking was only 12 bucks and it was a nice short walk to the venue and no traffic getting g out when we left the show. The event was sold out, and we got there right when doors opened. The line out front was not too long and security kept everybody moving really quick. Full bar and food inside. The main room is tiny, so anywhere you stand you will have a great view of the performers. I definitely plan to come back to see another show here, wish I had caught shows here in the past... We thought we were so lucky by standing by the stage but then one of the workers tells us we need to move because it was cleary handicap and we did. The manager a female came to yell at me and my son along with a father who was there with his autistic son and a young lady visiting from Nashville. We were told that once show starts and no one uses space we can return to our spots. Opener came on and we moved to our spaces but then we were told only four guests had permission to stand in those areas. A lady who had shown up with her babe and the father and son. The lady got loud with me as if she was there prior to my son and I, like lady it is not that serious and I have a child! Other than the terrible experience with customer service it was an epic show. Blake Whiten even handed my son a guitar pick he used which was super awesome for his first experience at a concert!

We parked on the street at a meter, and the maximum was 2 hours for $4, which was pretty reasonable for Hollywood. The staff was nice, and all the bands that played were really good. We had a great time! I definitely recommend this place if you enjoy live music and want to watch some great local bands while experiencing a classic Hollywood spot.

The venue is dark, cozy, and somehow full of the friendliest and most suspiciously attractive people I've ever seen gathered in one room. It's located in a really busy area of Hollywood on the Sunset Strip. I've only been to this venue twice that I can think of. Previously to watch a band I really enjoyed called Two Gallants. My most recent visit was for a comedy/ music night. It was during the Netflix is a joke festival entail. The concept of the show was comedians would go on and do a 10 to 15 minute set then they would either perform or perform an instrument for a song of their choosing. The show I went to had some heavy hitters! Including Bill Burr, Nikki Glaser, Brad Williams, and Jelly Roll among others. Bill Burr played on the drums for a Beastie Boys cover. Nikki Glaser did a Taylor Swift song and a duet with surprise guest Jason Mraz. Such a cool experience. If it wasn't so hard to get to this area of town for me or find parking in the area. I think I would come here more often. Otherwise, it's a bit of a pain.

I also like how it's a smaller venue so the show felt very intimate 10/10. The staff was so friendly and helpful there was no issues entering the venue. The bartenders were so attentive and quick i had my drink in less than five seconds which was nice bc there wasn't any long lines so I didn't waist time. I also like how they had parking in the back which was amazing no issues finding parking.

Decorative touches on point. Classy crowd makes you want to approach the night with style and grace. Friendly staff welcome you and are watching for any drink orders you may have. If you know nothing about the Whitefire Theater know this - you will never see a crappy play here. KUDOS Whitefire Theatre. Parking can be a nightmare because it's along Ventura Blvd - but, was told you can valet your car with the restaurant 1/2 block east.
