When I showed up I could tell there were people that have been doing this group for a long tIme. Well there's a reason for that. Eartha is, simply put, magic. Her smile is infectious. She's got so much swagger. As a new mom going to her class was like going out to a club except I didn't have to get dressed up or stay out late. I could just close my eyes, get down, and lose calories! But don't close you eyes too long haha. You've got to work for that class WERK. People tell me to try out their Zumba class i just nod and smile because i know there could NEVER be a class that compares to Eartha. She's like a fairy i love her!

We saw that there was a play called Jane Austen Unscripted being held outside the theater in back of the building. 8 of us decided to go and got a table just in front of the stage. It was lunchtime and local stores and restaurants provided some munchies, one per person, like fruit tarts, berry scones, a cupcake and cucumber tea sandwich. When reading the "program" we saw it was going to be improv with members of the Impro Theater, and as we've been to improvs before we know that it can be great or not so much. We, and every table at the show, thought it was a fantastic show. The actors did a great job that had us laughing and enjoying it to the 10-star degree. We understand that there's a bit of a different show based on the actors and audience response, but our show was great! It's still playing for a little while so if you can and like Jane Austin and improvisation definitely go see it!

The thing I love most about there is that they have is tic toes that will teach you the skills and the foundations do dance while still making it fun. I need a balance of technique and fun and they deliver! I have had the esteemed pleasure of working with and competing with many of the instructors, I've learned a multitude of dances, had incredible support and the most fun I've had pretty much anywhere. Dance itself can be almost addictive once you jump in and boy what better place to get those endorphins in while learning than at a place like this? I went from knowing virtually nothing and feeling very overwhelmed (in a good way) about any partner style dance, (I also didn't have a background in other forms of dance) and threw myself in entirely to then be at my first salsa competition a year later. I'm so glad I made that investment. I've warned lifelong friends and memories. They have knowledgeable teachers, kind staff, a wonderful space and always something fun going on. I have worked with the owner, Raul, the amazing Artem, the show stopping Yesenia, the bubbly Deana, the sassy Jackie and many others during my time there. The knowledge and experience I now possess makes me feel comfortable in most dance settings, socially or otherwise. If you're looking for a place to learn and have fun...this is it!

I appreciate how smart he is in his improv and how he encourages his students to be the same. I am definitely more confident after taking improv with him. I trust that I am enough and that has freed me to be more creative than ever! Plus my booking/callback ratios especially for commercials (since they are mostly improv) have drastically improved. The sign of a truly top tier class is that is doesn't simply repeat the common and thorough list of ideas other great classes also teach, but it brings up new or overlooked ideas. Jay brought ideas to my attention I hadn't heard before and addressed developing areas of my improv I've never even considered developing further. And not just for myself. And he did so humbly and with the gracefulness of Mr. Miagi. This guy wins friends and influences people! He also has the class summarize things gone over to help us retain and remember what he taught which is very helpful. If you're looking to round out your education, get ANY possible question answered (Ex. Q: Can I have a dollar, Jay? A: No!!! Ex. 2 Q: Pleeeeeeeease?! A: No!!! Ex. 3 Q: .... A: No!!!), have ongoing support via email and messaging (it's really mentoring if you think about it), or see the greatest cow impression ever performed in a sober state (Cheers to sobriety! *Clink*).... You've gotta do this class. Find a cheap AirBnb near the heart of Hollywood -- there's a great spot in Culver City with a Japanese chick hosting for instance either for a one bed or two bed. Uber-ing over was $5-6 per way total for two people. I forgot to, but remember to take pictures including with your classmates and Jay and his friends for nostalgia's sake. Also, there was an awesome improv performance by Jay and his pro friends at the end. Haven't seen it that good in person! Don't sneeze or you'll be begging for a replay.
