Rather than helping us understand the differences between available options, the conversation felt increasingly tense and dismissive, particularly when discussing our use of AI generated visuals to help refine the design direction we are trying to achieve. After scheduling a consultation, Gina later that same day decided not to take on the project, which is certainly her prerogative, and I appreciate that she communicated that before any work began. That said, the experience left me with the impression that questions, comparison shopping, and our personal decision making process were viewed negatively rather than as a normal part of a significant home investment. No chit-chat, no attempts to upsell, just got to work and provided good results. I would use them again and recommend you use them too. Other companies wanted significantly more money, or wanted me to take the screen door to them, or refused to give a quote without a "site inspection". On that last note, all the trades seem to be pushing their "site inspectors" lately. And, they typically charge a fee to give you that estimate. So, they show up, apply their high-pressure sales tactics and rampant up-charges while also reminding you that you've already sunk costs into them, so it's a losing proposition to get any other quotes because it'll cost you hundreds to get several bids. It's a disturbing trend. They all clearly have a price range in mind, but they don't want to publish it so they can surprise you and try to trap you. Don't fall for it!!!

I was originally going to buy from a local chain and have to install them myself and my daughter (who was happy with her Shutters) said to contact Mike at Shutter Up Shutters. I ended up scraping that idea and going with Mike because the quality was good and the way he suggested the installation was completely different than I would have done. He saved me a lot of time and headaches. The first window he installed turned out so beautifully that I had him do a couple more windows. And once the kitchen is remodeled he will be doing those windows as well. I was so impressed with the service that I have recommended them to my customers and friends. Their experience upon meeting him and hiring him was equal to mine. Shutter up is a solid, professional and honest company with excellent products and service. I found Gordon here on Yelp. I contacted him and Instead of sending some pictures I asked if I could FaceTime him so that he could provide a quote and a repair time estimate, which he was able to provide and said he could swing by to remove the piece that needed to be repaired or replaced, and to get the pin that needed to be replaced as well. It did take a while, but unfortunately it was because there was an emergency family event that had taken place. Despite that happening, Gordon came as he promised and did a fantastic job. I would use him again and highly recommend his work. He's a terrific guy and the two negative reviews are a result of a family medical situation that was out of his control. His rates are also reasonable given the quality of our shutters. He was able to match the paint and the actual piece that he replaced perfectly.
