Wagyu burger
Brenda B.

I came here to have some dinner and decided to order the Wagyu burger. While I waited, the sun was setting and the live music was playing. It was a chill environment to unwind and relax after a long day. You could sit anywhere you were comfortable and we chose a spot where you could see the pool. I went back upstairs to refresh a little and while I was away, my friend had ordered my Wagyu burger medium well and they got the same thing. After I returned, we were still waiting for our food, which was okay because I had only been gone for 5 minutes. However, when we did receive our food, my burger was very well done and theirs were medium well. It was different than theirs and you could see the char on mine. I immediately went to let the server know and apologized and she said it was no problem and that there was nothing to be sorry for and said they will remake my food. I was happy that she was so nice about it. When I got my food, it was better. It shows that their commitment to providing customer service is on point. I really appreciated it. Overall, I'd prob come here again, but next time for just a drink.

Guava+ gin, and beer on happy hour 4-5 pm daily
Jevonah K.

Great happy hour! Every day 5-6pm. Beer is $4, wine $5 and cocktail $6. Live music every evening 7-9pm. Food looks good too but we didn't try it. We stayed at the resort for a week and enjoyed happy hour and evening dessert a few times! Parking is validated for a few hours for dining here also. Highly recommend! Service was very friendly and attentive. Koa was our favorite server.

Kalua pig sliders

We had the Kaulua pork sliders, and they were very yummy. The service was good and all the servers were very friendly. The view and feel I the outside seating was very relaxing and comforting. The Tiki torches added to the ambiance. There was also live music that was very enjoyable.

We had dinner here last evening. We were impressed with the service and food. Service was friendly, welcoming and utmost attentive. The food came out quick and was presented beautifully and very delicious. All were appetizer portions and were perfect for sharing dishes. Ambiance was nice with the big doors open, the scenery and the amazing breeze. They have live music. But don't pick a table close to them because it's loud. We will definitely come back.

Manhattan and Hibiscus Margarita

We stayed at the hotel and found ourselves here at some point every day. Melia was the best server, fun, upbeat and positive with lots of great recommendations! Loved happy hour (both of them!) with drink specials and $7 pupus/ small plates - all of which were really delicious. Also enjoyed the live entertainment each night, relaxing views, great way to unwind in the evening. Knocked off a star because they changed the menu halfway through our stay, and the new things on the menu were not as good as what we had on the old menu - skip the spare ribs, drenched in overly sweet sauce.

If you come to this restaurant Milia is amazing and is why we kept coming back in. Give her a raise! She's very nice and recommended a lot of great things to see on the island. We stayed at the resort so we found this happy hour from 5-6pm then again from 830-930pm. Came a few times during our stay. Live music and great ambiance good vibe. Great price on draft beers and well drinks. Appetizers are tasty recommend the fried calamari, their Caesar salad is amazing. For dinner - fish & chips - (get extra tarter sauce) Kobe beef bowl or Ahi tuna bowl. The hotel is now owned by outrigger so they've made some changes to the menu. Menu has been updated to what you see here on yelp. Thanks for the great service will definitely drop in when we come back. Mahalo!

Perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery. With the sounds of the ocean playing in the background partnered with the sounds of a local musician, this place will bring out the romantic in you. I recommend sitting outside. The service was top notch and our server Gina was amazing! The food was a bit pricey but very much delicious and I will be back.

Pork scramble

This restaurant that was located at our resort was so delicious. We decided to have breakfast before we went on our excursion. The food was amazing. I had the pork scramble with salsa. It was mouth watering. The food was good and very tasty. Two thumbs up. Thank you Frank for your kindness and what local things to do on the island.

You just never know if your hotel is going to have good food...so when it does, you have to rave about it a bit. This is the bar/lounge at the Kauai Beach Resort located in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. It's not the fanciest resort (it's no Four Seasons or St. Regis), but it has its basic resort amenities -pool, spa, gym, food. Located right off the main lobby. There is Nightly music! A nice touch and a bit loud if you sit inside, so we opted to sit outside where we could still hear the music and hear each other. It was perfect for us. Service - our server was gracious, kind, and hospitable. Food was fast considering the lounge was about 75% full. Food was perfect. I don't always give resort restaurants a "perfect" remark. The shrimp was crispy, perfectly seasoned, succulent, and I could each this every day (we're here for two more days, might have to sneak in another order). The Caeser salad was basic, nothing out of the ordinary. The tempura spicy ahi roll was good. A little too much rice smashed in between everything, but perfectly fried, sauces were good. Overall, we had a nice evening and I recommend this hotel bar/lounge for ambiance, service, and food.

The garlic ginger shrimp was AMAZING

We enjoyed our dinner here. My only little complaint is the live entertainment is too loud, it was hard to talk to my husband. But the food is great!

Wagu burger with added bacon! It was delicious!!

When we pulled up around 7pm, there was just 1 other party that was there and they were seated outside. There was live music and we asked to be seated right in front of him. Boy, that was a big mistake as the speaker was right there and it was very difficult for me and my wife to carry any kind of conversation. That was mostly my fault and I should have asked to be seated a few tables back. But it was fine as the musician was great the whole night with his soothing voice and relaxing tunes. There were only 2 servers at the time so getting my drink refilled was a little slow. We ordered the fried enoki mushrooms. Not sure where they were going with this dish as enoki mushrooms don't really have any taste to them. Plus it's a little stringy. I thought it was a little oily. Not sure if the oil was hot enough when they fried this, but it was a bit greasy and since it didn't have any taste to it, the tartar sauce pretty much carried the dish. My ribeye, however, was great. It was cooked medium-rare with a lot of mashed potatoes. The peppercorn cream sauce was a nice touch and didn't overshadow the meat. The one thing I would suggest is that the ribeye was on the thin side, so it didn't get that char crispiness that you would be able to get on a thicker steak. Since I asked for it to be medium rare, getting the desired texture would not be possible. I would have liked to be thicker as the bite would be more substantial. I normally associate a thin cut to a cheap or budget steak. Flavor-wise and temp, it was perfect. There was so much mashed potatoes that I ended up leaving half of it on the plate. It's a garlic mash and really tasty. The Osso Buco was tender, fall off the bone. I did, however, find it to be a little too salty though. You also get a lot of Risotto. They do not skimp on portions here. Great find.

This was our second time visiting BV's, and it definitely won't be our last…read more Service: I'm honestly not sure where the bad reviews are coming from. Both times we visited, the waitstaff was incredibly courteous, attentive, and greeted us with warm, beautiful smiles. Food & Drinks: The Cheeseburger: Extremely juicy, perfectly cooked, and topped with fresh condiments on a beautifully toasted bun. The fries were extra crispy, delicious, and perfectly salted. We paired the burger with the Island Lager. It had a very crisp, clean taste that complemented the meal perfectly. Highly recommended! On our second night, we tried the pizza. Being from California, we're spoiled with some amazing wood-fired pizza places, but hands down--this pizza was absolutely delicious. The dough was soft and clearly handmade rather than ready-made, and the cheese and pepperoni were fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend BV's for both the fantastic food and the stellar service!

This place has an extensive Italian menu, and a huge drink menu showcasing a vast collection of bourbon. All of which is wildly overpriced, which is to be expected in this context. No complaints there. It's the Italian menu. Well, not really the menu...the cooking is horrific. We ordered a Hawaiian BBQ chicken pizza. A 16" thin crust which should have been a nice treat on an island with no shortage of fresh chickens and pineapple, and with a solid love of BBQ. The waitress was friendly and I was very optimistic. We also ordered some salad. The food came out quickly. First the salad. The lettuce was flimsy. The salad dressing was tasteless. It was basically some limp green lettuce and coarse chopped bell peppers. The salad was disappointing, to say the least - you have to seriously not give a rip to make a salad that boring. Then the main event! The pizza arrived. Complete with that nifty metal rack thing they bring out so that your pizza seems to hover over your table. The table did not have red pepper flakes, extra cheese or even salt and pepper - which I figured was a good sign. It looked OK: small chunks of chicken spread thinly across a 16" pizza, with small pineapple chunks (all of which were strangely uniform in size) and a pretty generous splattering of BBQ sauce mixed into the melted mozzarella. I sliced myself a slab of that pie and got ready to eat! One bite told me everything I needed to know. The uniformly shaped pineapple chunks had that telltale slightly metallic flavor because...IT CAME FROM A CAN! Hawaiian sacrilege! Then the BBQ sauce hit. I couldn't tell if it was from unsold McRib sandwiches, KC Masterpiece, or a jug of plain wrap BBQ SAUCE from the Big Save Market. It wasn't good. Then I reached the crust, which seemed like it came out of one of those Pillsbury tubes you get at the store and smack on your kitchen counter to get it to pop open. Nice for wrapping hot dogs for 7 year olds, not so great for pizza dough. The Hawaiian criminal code should include a felony for serving canned pineapple to unsuspecting pizza eaters. Bobby V's doesn't even have a beautiful Hawaiian vibe going for them. The ambiance is the disastrous hell hole called the Coconut Marketplace - a pointless commercial development where they ripped out real Hawaii and built simulated Hawaii. There are several other restaurants walking distance from this place, and even a McDonald's that's not so that far away; even the egg salad from a dispenser in the men's room at a nearby gas station is probably better than the pizza we ate (and it might make you a genius!) While attempting to eat a piece of their awful pizza - I watched as several plates of very overcooked pasta were served at nearby tables. The pasta was clearly very mushy and it didn't smell very good either. Perhaps they serve good desserts, depending on what's on sale at Costco. The beer was good...but someone else made that. Don't just skip Bobby V's, run! Run! And warn the others. I'm an absolutely hard pass on this place and you should be too. UPDATE: We got home from our trip and put together a Costco pizza kit for a late dinner. It was 10X better than Bobby V's pie, and cost about $3.

Call me Gaylord Focker,…read more Cause at the Mahiko Lounge... I Nursed the hell out of my drink. Thats right people, Mahiko Lounge is the bar connected to The Plantation House at Gaylord's and its one of Kauai's best little happy hours on island. The HH eats are a great representation of what living your best Aloha life might look like & the drinks will make you happy that it is Always 5 o' clock somewhere. Luckily for them and even Luckier for you... The Koloa Rum Company is located on the same property and provides the Mahiko Lounge and Gaylord's restaurant all the rum you can handle. We personally had the Koloa Rum Mai Tai, Coconut Cooler & Cucumber Lavender Mojito. Each were hand crafted, refreshing, and made with what I think is some of the best rum on the planet. So whether you sit at the bar to chit chat with the bartender or curl up on the comfy sofa to sip that perfectly prepared cocktail, remember you are on island time, so enjoy it! And in the famous words of Gaylord Focker... Focker OUT!

Friday, June 10 at 5:15pm…read more After a satisfying rum tasting experience at Koloa Rum, my wife and I headed over to Maliki Lounge to try the Koloa Rum MaiTai (per the recommendation of a Koloa Rum). Upon entering the lounge, my wife and I decided to sit in the teal couch located near the back of the lounge (in direct view of the bar area). Since Happy Hour had just ended, the large crowd at the bar left leaving a somewhat empty lounge. Equipped with my signature smile (my close friends always comment on the fact that I have an infectious smile), I greeted the bartender and ordered a MaiTai for myself and a margarita for my wife. After leaving my card at the bar(we were prepared to indulge in quite a few beverages), I presented my wife with her drink as we engaged in conversation on the comfortable couch. As we consumed our beverages, we noticed that a small crowd of folks began making their way into the lounge (I have to add that these individuals were not seated at the bar). As we arrived to the sad conclusion of our delicious drinks, I began to wonder when an employee would stop by and ask if we were ready for another (or simply just provide the bare minimum of customer service by checking in with us). Initially I assumed that staff only provided service to patrons that were seated at the bar. However, I observed that some of the individuals seated in close proximity to us were receiving service. I looked at my watch and observed that a whopping 20 minutes had passed since we finished our drinks. During that 20 minutes I observed patrons receiving additional drinks and receiving food. During this time, I also began questioning my sanity. As each patron was checked on by an employee, I began to wonder if my wife and I had gone on to the afterlife and were invisible. The final straw was when an employee walked past us after checking in with another couple. I'm not one to pull the race card; however, I couldn't help but think that race played a factor because the other patrons were Caucasian (White). At this point I was ready to remove myself and my wife from this disgusting environment, and made my way to the bartender to close out my tab. If I were the stereotype that you see on Fox News (and if my card was not on file), we probably could have walked out of this bar unnoticed (without paying). When I calmly and quietly expressed my concern to the bartender (please note that I led with the fact that she makes delicious drinks), she told me that staff were busy tending to both lounge and restaurant patrons. However, we observed staff chatting casually amongst each other and moving with absolutely no sense of urgency. After delivering an uninspired apology (basically telling me to hurry up and close out the tab), she stated that she probably should have checked in on us herself. At this point she was better of telling me the real reason why we did not receive any customer service. I loved the cozy environment and the delicious drinks. However, that means nothing when you're a willing and able paying customer who is not acknowledged. My wife and I had a great time at the Koloa Rum Tasting Room. However, the lack of customer service at this establishment was an alarming reminder that we are indeed on a plantation. I understand that the pandemic is impacting everyone to some extent (especially the work ethic of staff); however, management needs to address this issue (there are multiple Yelp reviews expressing similar experiences.
