Si is such a sweet lady. She really listened to what I wanted for the alterations for my dress, and made it fit very well on me. She was also able to fit in my girls for alterations even though their dresses came only a month before the wedding. My girls' dresses were all 2 sizes too big, and she fixed them perfectly. There was a little mishap in which she took in too much for a few of the girls, and she was able to fix it with a 24 hours turnaround time. She did such great work. A miracle worker with the thread and needle. I'm a nursing mom and needed to have my bride's maid dress altered after the baby was born. The dress fit everywhere but in the bust area, it was a inches too small!!! Si made it fit and made it looked beautiful. MY HERO! enuff said I literally called Si and wanted to cried when I told her my experience with the first seamstress. She felt so bad for me and fitted me into her busy schedule. She was able to fixed my dress one month before my wedding. She basically fixed all the mistake my first seamstress made. And charged me 75% less. So here is my update for my wedding dress. I got an appt to see Si after I found my dress (off the rack). She knew what I wanted and even checked the dress for other flaws since it was off the rack. But it was in good condition. I just picked up my dress from Si for my bustle to be pulled up and she did a great job. She realized how long my trane was and it was heavy so she even put an extra hook inside. You can't see it and I am excited to see how it looks with a wire petty coat underneathe. She was reasonable on price and had it done in a week. I made an appt with her for one more fitting in case I lose anymore weight. She was so booked already, I am glad I got in. I just did the 2nd out of 3 fittings for my wedding dress. And I can't believe how much more I'm loving my dress right now! Si was able to take my sample size gown and alter it about 2 sizes down. Even though it is not complete, it already fits like a glove. I'm paying a little more than I would like but she is doing a lot of intricate work with lace and silk organza. But the most important thing is that I immediately felt like I could trust Si with the most expensive piece of clothing I will ever wear. She has a good eye, she listens, and she had an answer for every question I had. I was referred to Si by my cousin who had nothing but good things to say about her experience. I cannot wait to pick up the finished product in a couple more weeks. I love Si!! She is an amazing alterations person. She used to MAKE formal gowns so it's no wonder she can take apart a complicated gown and make it look like a brand new gown with no evidence of it ever being like the original. I had to change the neckline to modified sweetheart, take up the satin to reveal more lace on the bottom hem, and change the back to a V-point instead of a straight across cut. Si transformed my dress to an amazing piece of art! It turned out EVEN better than I had envisioned. She has a true skill. I know some other folks mentioned her phone etiquette is a little questionable but if you ever speak with her in person, you'll see she sighs a lot in general and it's not meant to offend. Si altered my wedding dress for February this year. She did a phenomenal job. At first there were all sorts of details that weren't fitting right on the dress, but she manage to fix all of them and the dress seriously fit me like a glove when she was done. I didn't really think of alterations until 2 weeks before the wedding date and thought she would be too booked already to help me. Although Si is known for her amazing work on super high end formal and wedding gowns, I contacted her about some hemming and other minor alterations I needed. Such a warm, lovely, positive experience! I needed major alterations on a wedding dress that was 10 sizes too big, but I loved the style and material. I got a quote (and pressure and attitude) from a well known seamstress shop in Palo Alto that was more than double what Si charged me. Plus, Si was sweet, comforting, and extemely skilled. She gladly and willingly changed the entire back to a cascading French bustle that was way more elegant, lifted and moved a major amount of lace applique, and found solutions to neckline issues that made the dress even more beautiful than the original. Si wrote up the details of the dress alterations very professionally and showing her high level of technical skill. Oh my gosh - I LOVE SI! She is simply the best. I went to her for a pretty major reconstruction of my lace wedding dress that was a size or two too large. She is a total professional, and perfectionist, and wasn't finished with my dress until it was just right (which is amazing for a Type-A person like me!) I found my perfect wedding dress on sale and had to grab it even though it was several sizes too big and way too long (since I am significantly shorter than the usual hem). After having our original boutique seamstress move away before she got to my gown, we found Si through recommendations and can't believe our luck. Si charged significantly (hundreds!) less than the seamstress at the bridal boutique to practically custom-make this gorgeous dress to my body. During each visit she was so sweet and listened to the vision that I was hoping the end would turn out to be. And in the end - I almost cried tears of joy! The gown was perfect and I couldn't believe the talent and work she did to make it seem like it fit me all along - right down to the beautiful french bustle. I feel bad giving Si only 3 stars because she is such a sweet lady. Overall, I was satisfied with Si's work. However, part of the reason that I choose to go to her for my wedding dress alterations was that other yelper's reported her being reasonably priced. In the end, the alterations for my dress cost $285. This seems a bit high to me, but then again I never took my dress to anyone else so I don't have any other price comparison. I was dissatisfied with her work on my bustle. Although it looked beautiful and seemed to be functional with all of its color-coordination it was useless. The bustle kept coming apart and after re-doing the bustle 5 times I resorted to holding my dress up with my hand throughout most of the reception. read more

After reading some horror stories about wedding gown alterations gone wrong, I was pretty worried about who I would entrust with my gown. Meeting Si at her house, her calm, pleasant demeanor made me comfortable and you could tell she was extremely experienced. (After all, she used to make wedding gowns). Luckily my dress didn't need a whole lot of altering, just the sides a bit and the bustle. Although I didn't have any comparison point (I decided to go with my gut and just have Si do it), cost seemed reasonable from what I heard from others. Si create a unique bustle for me since my gown had a lot going on, which ended up working out very well. We did have an appointment mix up where my dress wasn't ready for one of the fittings, but it ended up being ok since I had a lot of time before the wedding. Si was very pleasant to work with! She had altered 2 of my dresses. First, my wedding gown..she did a great job on the top part however, the bottom was a bit long, I had to keep holding it up so I would not fall. I didn't notice it when I walked around for my final fitting (make sure you walk and test it CAREFULLY). Also, when you are walking around in her house be sure to PICK your dress off of her floor my dress got really dirty and also had makeup on the back of my dress? I tried not to get to upset since it gets really nasty on your big day but just be careful. Also when she bustles your dress make sure you sit down and test it out. My bustle kept coming off every time I sat down during the reception. My second dress that she altered was perfect! No complaints there :). I would definitely recommend Si if you want your special dresses altered. I had my holiday dress basically one size down including the inner layers and zippers, I'm a petite 0 and it's hard to find dresses for me that no need alteration. she charged $55 which was the max i was willing to pay for altering this particular dress.
