Stopped for lunch on our way to Tucson. This place was packed but we were seated fairly quickly. I had chicken enchiladas and a chili relleno. My husband had carnitas. Both were good with a fair amount of spice. A bit different to what we are use to in Colorado, but good nonetheless. The salsa was outstanding. Not overly hot but enough kick to enjoy with chips. Bonus was complimentary sopaipilla's which were delicious. Shoutout to the waitress who appeared to be servicing most the tables, she did an amazing job. We also enjoyed the atmosphere which was mostly locals. This is what we enjoy most about RVing throughout the states. Also supporting small local businesses. FYI, we did not see one fly in the restaurant while we were there, so not sure what that comment was about. read more

We were in town for work and ate here at some people's recommendations. Staff were polite and attentive but not overly attentive. Chips were not my favorite but the salsa was delicious. I ordered the Taco salad and my husband ordered the combination plate. My taco salad ingredients looked and tasted fresh. It's pretty hard to mess up a taco salad but some places do. Everything on my husbands plate was great except for the tamale. It was dry. I'm pretty picky about my tamales though. We have a little Abuela that lives across the street from us that makes us tamales and she makes the best I've ever eaten. The sopapillas was not my favorite. I like mine with a little sugar dusting. It makes a difference. But it was light and good texture. Overall we would eat here again. read more

Not so much... We high high hopes for this little place. It seems everyone else thought it was awesome and "the best." But, I just don't get it. I will say, the service was adequate-the people in this little mom and pop place were timely, polite, and efficient, but not communicative at all. The food however, which is why i came in- was so bland and non-rememberable. I ordered a bean taco and and beef taco. There was no taste at all. Bland and blah! The salsa was just ok. It was both salt and garlic forward. As you can see by my picture- they need a big lesson in plating. This place got two stars for the service and the free sopapillas with honey. Loved this place! It's a typical small town diner type place with great food, great portions and great pricing. The green salsa is a lil milder than their red, both are great, but if you're interested in the New Mexico Green Chile experience, you gotta try the green!! It came warm with some shredded cheese on top. The HUGE sopapillas for dessert came with honey sauce and were perfect! Great beans! Great Spanish rice! Great chili relleno! Great tamales! Five stars for what it is, which is a small town restaurant. I was greeted by friendly staff and allowed to choose my preferred table from the few available. Ordered green chili enchiladas and was asked about an egg on top. Next time I'm trying it that way. I didn't specify rolled or flat and they came out flat, which was fine with me. Just the right amount of beans and rice. The food was flavorful and the right amount of spicy for me. (I'm a gringa). The sopapilla with honey to drizzle was a welcome surprise at the end of my meal. Had lunch here based on other Yelp reviews and were glad we did. Quick, friendly service and a lot of food for the money. We had a combination plate that included rice, beans, ground beef taco, cheese enchilada, Chile relleno and red chile beef. We had the green sauce which tasted fresh and delicious. Everything was yummy. I didn't care for the refried beans, as they were a bit runny for my taste. Lunch was served with chips and salsa and at the end they bring sopapillas and honey. Two of these combo plates and 2 bottles of coke came to $30 and we brought enough home for another meal. A good deal for a delicious meal. read more

We were both impressed by the quality and taste of our food. He had a combo platter that was to die for! I had a bean burrito with red and green sauce that was outstanding! I usually come to a Mexican Restaurant for Mexican food. Yet I saw Liver & Onions on the menu. It's one of me and my mother's favorite foods that's so hard to find so we had to order it. Customer Service- very polite and attentive- 5 star Food - the liver is 1 thick slice instead of 2 thinner slices. It's very good and flavorful. It's has tomatoes on it which is different but good. I was surprised at how good the instant potatoes tasted. The caldo was also very good. Top it off, the meal came with sopapillas.- 5 stars Price- Less than $20 for all that food. My mom was born n raised in New Mexico. So of course we were raised on green and red chile. We recently took a road trip to Florida but the entire time I couldn't wait to eat in New Mexico! Stopped at Chevron for gas and asked the nice lady were is the best place to eat in Deming N. M. Si Señor was the spot. Very friendly staff as soon as we walked in. I knew exactly what I wanted when I walked in! Stacked Enchiladas Christmas style with eggs on top! The first thing I did when I received my plate was taste the chile. OMG! Some of the most flavorful chile I have ever had! The green chile was supper good but that red chile flavor was so delicious! Everything was closed in Hatch and Si Senor was recommended by a farmer there. The chile relleno was good, but the cheese wasn't fully melted inside. The green chile chicken enchiladas were amazing, with the correct ratios of ingredients for each bite to be flavorful, not overly wet or dry. The lemonade was a welcome surprise, fresh and mildly sweet. Sopapillas at the end of the meal brought me back to my first order when I was young. I ordered a burrito with asada, beans, rice, and cheese inside. I received asada, rolled in a tortilla and covered in cheese, with beans and rice on the side. The asada was dry and tasteless, and the salsas they provided were bland. I honestly don't know how they can't make a burrito correctly; I was very clear in my order. My wife liked the cheese enchiladas (+1 star) but those are pretty difficult to mess up so IDK what to think about my burrito order. We are from Southern California, have been to countless Mexican food joints, and love some authentic Mexican food so this was seriously disappointing. Only reason I went here is because it's my wife's family's tradition, but I will not be coming back if I can help it. read more

So much flavor! So much spice! So much goodness! Outstanding service and wonderful food await those who come in. Large portions of thoughtfully and well prepared food seem to be the norm. The chips and salsas (one tomato based and the other cream with green chiles) are tasty beginnings to the meal. Warning - don't eat too many of them, as the entrees are big. I had beef enchiladas - these are flat and stacked, not rolled, and I had them Christmas (both red and green sauces), and they were accompanied by refried beans (basically no portions of whole beans remained in the smooth, tasty dish) and fluffy Spanish rice. The red sauce is super spicy, which is great, as it is full of flavor and it goes wonderfully with the super fine ground beef. The green sauce was punctuated with translucent diced onions and a bit tangy. But wait! There's more! When we were almost finished, our server brought us the fluffiest sopapillas that are basically fried dough pillows that one drizzles with honey before each bite. They are so good! This restaurant does not serve alcohol, but it does have some selection of bottled Mexican sodas (these usually have more sugar than the American versions), canned soft drinks, and iced tea. Lunch for two was under $21, and I don't think we're eating dinner tonight after such a huge meal. Please try this quaint restaurant if you're in the Deming, NM area - it's so good! I'm from a border town in Imperial Valley in CA. Holtville is near Mexicali. I was very hesitant to stop in for Mexican food in Deming, NM. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. The green sauce is definitely homemade. The chicken was shredded. It was better than any restaurant I've eaten in the valley or San Diego. And they gave us complimentary sopapillas (Sp??) with honey for desert. The best!!! Now, the Imperial Valley is known for their carne asada and my son had the red burrito and he said it was just okay. The service was great and quick. It was packed in there and I was afraid it would take forever, but to my surprise they were really quick. Now, I don't know why everyone was staring at us!! Reviews and great but the food here is absolutely trash and hot garbage .. I ordered the tamales plate and it was dryer than a piece of cardboard and bland the sauce was not it either. Your better off going to Walmart and getting frozen tamales and put them in the microwave and they would have more flavor and not be as tough either. Another place that people raves about saying the food is absolutely great but it's absolutely terrible. Tacos plate we ordered as well was cold and bland tasted like the food has been sitting for days and served. We didn't even finish 2 bites before leaving because we did not want to get sick eating this terrible food. Not sure if the people who wrote the reviews saying how great it is taste buds are just shot but this is the worse Mexican food I had in my life !!! Open seating in this restaurant, prices are very reasonable for menu items. First time in Deming and Complimentary chips and salsa is good. Not many places open on a Monday in this city so we ventured and googled areas to eat. This place popped up as close by and being open. Plates are big for the price they are listed for. I think this is generally a good place to grab some food. We split the chicken stuff sopapillas with green salsa. I appreciated that they split it on two plates for us. We thought the chicken itself was really good! I knocked them a star for the chips and salsa being pretty stale.
