I'm from Mexico and I can say this place reminds me of home . Don't hesitate to try this place out

Wrightsville Tocadillo (did I spell that right)

Just checked this place out on 3/3/36. The food was sooo good! Home made salsa, the Wrightsville Tocadillo was awesome! The shrimp was delicious too! Our server Kyra (maybe spelled wrong) was so much fun! The decor in the restaurant was so fun!

POLLO GALLEGO the best Mexican dish I have ever had in NC! Had it for lunch on 7/17/2025. Beautiful and absolutely delicious! A+ and 5 STAR

The Chicken dish I had was GREAT. It was very flavorful and plentiful. I had it for lunch and with the chips and salsa it was very delicious. I will definitely order this dish again when we are in Wilmington!

This is a quaint Hispanic restaurant. It has a flight of margaritas that are in refreshing flavors. For an appetizer you need to try the fried avocado. Who knew this would delicious? For dinner we ate the lobster enchiladas.

You have to love a place that calls this a dirty sanchez lol

So much fun and the food was great! We stopped in for dinner non a road trip and we were not disappointed! The food was traditional and really good. So was the music. I wish I lived closer I would be a regular!

I miss the OG Si Senor when. O Mexican restaurant in town compared to it. Now it's just not great anymore. I would so much rather head a block away to the other amazing local Mexican restaurant any day. Let's start with the salsa. They used to have this amazing white one. Now it's just their regular one and it's average. The chips are really good. Tonight I ordered the quesadilla del mar because I didn't see the usual del mar meal on the menu. This was just not what I wanted. I feel like all of the love is gone. The sweet plantains were OK and the queso was average, too. Everything was just average.

Nicely surprised by the abundance of flavor in Rice in Paradise and Short Rib burrito dishes!!! We will definitely be coming back again! Fast and friendly service with nice restrooms too.

There were about eight or so of us gringas in our party. Myself and one other had a couple of questions about dishes and drinks we weren't very familiar with. Our waiter--I don't remember his name--was very impatient and made it obvious that we were taking up too much of his time (despite not being very busy). We eventually got our food--and it was good--but when we did need our waiter again for refills or extra napkins, it was hard to locate him. I think the manager sensed the situation, as he swung by our table a few times to make us laugh and give us refills. He's the only reason this review is getting 3 stars, instead of 1 or 2. I hope their staffing situation improves, because my friends and I would like to try other dishes, but we don't want to feel bothersome the entire night.

Came to eat here after shopping at Walmart. Menu looked really good. They had a QR code to scan for menu but we couldn't load it on phone so we got the paper menu. They had a lot of great things but I chose soft shell taco.. don't see that often in Mexican restaurants.. it had really great flavors but once I bit into the crab it didn't seem right. I cut open and it wasn't cooked all way through. The meat was still kind of clear so we informed the manager who was very courteous and helpful. He took it off our bill and apologized. Like I said not a bad experience or meal it was just something I wanted to bring to cooks attention in hope it wouldn't happen to someone else. We would recommend the restaurant because it had so much to offer, so many things to choose from. The staff was friendly and helpful. I look forward to trying it again in future.

The restaurant is especially known locally for its authentic Mexican breakfast dishes, birria, and chilaquiles. I gave it a try with some coworkers for the first time in the Wilmington location, a it was fantastic. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I tried the Dovorciados eggs (two sunny side up eggs on top of a crispy corn tortilla with red and green salsa, separated by refried beans, and queso fresco.) with the Cafe de Olla. Everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt cozy and authentic. Easily one of the best breakfast and lunch spots in Wilmington. I'll definitely be back!

Today was not my first time eating here, and if I'm be truthful , every time I'm in town, I make it a point to stop by. They serve the kind of traditional Mexican breakfast I grew up loving, along with so many other delicious options. The staff is always warm and welcoming, serving every guest with the biggest smiles. You'll also often see the owner walking around as well, checking on tables and making sure everything is going smoothly, which adds such a personal touch. The restaurant itself is clean, beautifully decorated with cultural charm, and filled with the incredible aroma of fresh spices cooking in the kitchen. I always begin with their Café de Olla--a slow-simmered coffee made with raw brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, orange peel, and coffee. It's served hot, full of flavor, and not overly sweet. Honestly, it's the only coffee I'll happily drink without creamer or added sugar. This visit, I ordered the Tamal Montado: two tamales over a bed of creamy black bean sauce, covered with red salsa, then topped with a sunny side egg, avocado, Mexican sour cream, queso fresco, and cilantro. Every bite was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. I finished the meal with a pan dulce, which paired perfectly with the whole experience. I skipped tortillas this time, but they also have a tortilla station where they're made fresh by hand and cooked to order--always a sign you're in the right place!! They're open daily from 7 AM to 3 PM, and if you find yourself in Wilmington, this spot should absolutely be on your list

"Good Mexican with a twist near downtown Wilmington"…read more Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner at 6pm and were seated immediately despite it being a group of 5. The place was not very large but relatively full, so be wary of coming later unless you're OK waiting. The restaurant had a bit of a rustic look but clean & well maintained, and nice local art posted on the walls. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and a lot of the food was sourced locally. We started with a sweet potato- goat cheese "guacamole" appetizer. I split the Jefe's Arroz Con Pollo and the Carne Con Ancho with my son. My girlfriend got the vegan rellenos. Food came out in maybe 20 minutes. The ACP was very good but unusual. It came with a thigh and leg of chicken on top, and a big mix of flavors of food underneath-- coconut rice, black beans, pineapple salsa. Curiously no cheese. Very different from any ACP I've ever had. Overall, it was fine-- honestly, my son and I both felt it was too many flavors that overwhelmed each other. In contrast, the Carne Con Ancho was spectacular. The steak bits were cooked rare to perfection and absolutely melt in your mouth. The flavors of the arepa below it as well as the horseradish and other components blended beautifully and made for a wonderful dish. My girlfriend said the rellenos were nicely fried and the sweet potato puree was excellent-- a very hearty dish without feeling heavy. And we all also really liked the guacamole appetizer-- unusual yet delicious flavor (and no avocado). Price was fair-- this was definitely upscale, so not "cheap", but fair for what we got. Overall, I'd happily come back, and definitely would want that Carne Con Ancho again. I recommend.

A hidden gem in Wilmington ... a well kept secret of the locals …read more.. From the outside .. it looks like a road side hole in the wall but once youre in, its a whole new world ! Most people enter the bar entrance where the small patio area is .. but on the other side of the patio is the main entrance where you are created by the host stand .. You would never know how big this place is from the outside but once in... its like one of the hamster cage cages with never ending tunnels to different rooms/area... RSVP are definitely suggested since walkins are usually in Bar area or Patio area .. which isnt bad .. but its limited seating .. Staff here are cool but service can be a lil wait if they are busy . Menu is a Panamanian vibe with lots of good eats .. One of the salsas you must get is the Elote salsa its very nommm nommmm next would be the Goat Gauc which is equally amazing. The Ceviche is a must get ... yes get the Quattro which is 4oz of each one so you can sample all ! The scallops and pork belly of mash is pretty good but would be better over the coconut rice . The special of the day was a sheepshead filet over risotto which was pretty damn good ! The corvina was ok but was a little bit over done and ended up a lil drier than expected. Highly recommend asking for the homemade hot sauce ... its amazing and goes on everything! This is definitely a locals Hotspot and an interesting place to people watch... Will definitely comeback for sure .

The tortillas are really hard, difficult to eat and not very good though :( Ahi tuna was seared (not raw like I asked for) and the tortilla was burnt. Half wasn't edible... Coconut rice is sublime.
