The food was mediocre and the portion was poor. My drunken noodles tasted ok (my standard was not high, FYI), but the pud Thai (that's how they spelled it) noodles and lo mein were horrible, according to my husband and my son (we are from New York). Especially the lo mein, the flavor was plain and did not have any texture. It was like the frozen ones you could get from the supermarket. The waiting time was ok at the beginning, but when more customers came in, the waiting time took longer, which was understandable. However, as we told the waiter that we needed to check out in a hurry, we waited for 10 more minutes. We brought the check inside the restaurant and saw that the waiter and waitress were sitting/ standing, waiting. A guy who looked like the owner/ manager took our check and gave me a what-so-ever attitude "Is this your check?" We ate here for dinner on a rainy mid-week night. Tables were about half full during our meal. The closest parking is a public lot just up the street, but it is shared among many businesses and appeared hard to find a space. We eventually gave up and parked on a street a few blocks away. This is the only Thai restaurant in Bar Harbor, from what I could tell. It appeared to be a family-run affair. Service could be a bit slow as the volume of customers increased, but it was not bad. At first I thought they didn't serve alcohol; after I asked about it, they brought a wine/beer list. The food varied. I had a curry dish and the taste was okay, though the consistency of the sauce was thinner / more 'watery' than I'm used to. However, my impression is that this may be more of a 'New England' thing. We ate at another Thai place a few days earlier in an adjoining state, and their curry was similar. At any rate, if you like thick curry, you likely won't get it here. I ordered a 4 out of 5 on the spicy scale but it didn't seem very spicy. I think some places are hesitant to take customers at their word about how spicy to make it, so there won't be an excuse to send the dish back. OTOH, my wife quite liked her dish (maybe a chicken / broccoli ?). We only tried it the one time, so it's hard to judge. If you're in Bar Harbor, craving Thai food, and don't want to drive a long way, Siam Orchid fits the bill. read more

This Thai Place is definitely an A-Ok type of place. I was pleased with my lunch and service and would happily return. While it isn't ranking in my top uber nom nom thai places, that's mostly because- well I've had some dang good thai food! Especially in Az. I came in a little after the lunch hour on a week day so service was no problem. There were only a few others in there eating at the sushi bar and I was greeted and seated promptly. Food came out quickly as well. I had everything I needed throughout the whole meal. Everyone was also very friendly. Atmosphere was cute and cozy. Fun little decorations on the wall. Sushi bar was pretty small, not a lot of room up there if it were to get busy in the evenings. They didn't seem too gluten free savvy but when i just explained what I couldn't have they assured me the curries were all gluten free (as is pretty standard with thai). I ordered the green curry with scallops spice one (yes I'm a wimp). The curry was actually well spiced, even for a one. I felt like there was something else missing in the curry though, salt perhaps? The fresh veggies were good and the scallop portion was standard. It was the same as I'd get in Az if I ordered a seafood curry...so I kinda thought since I was in bar harbor I'd have gotten a couple extra. There were 4 small-med size scallops in the lunch portion. I was pleased that when I took half of my order to go they provided me some extra rice at no charge (I get cranky at being charged for rice haha). Price was fair- 10 bucks for a lunch meal. Though I am used to most lunch meals at thai places coming with soup/salad and a spring roll or something. This was just the curry. Maybe I'm just spoiled back home =) If you're in the area this is a solid thai place. Give it a try and see what you think. read more

The food here is GREAT, I'd give it 5 stars except for the service: they seem very understaffed for a summer resort town. So we were empathetic, but it does feel bad being left for dead. The Crispy Pud Thai [sic] was out of this world, as were the Golden Triangles w/peanut sauce and Spring Rolls. Rodan had food envy despite his tofu lo mein being tasty as heck. Their spicy is actually spicy so def give them your spice preference on a scale of 1-10. They have good outdoor seating available with heaters. The dishes start with a base price, which includes almost nothing except the noodles. You are charged with every additional "topping", such as chicken, beef, Tofu. There weren't any customers when we came in, but over the course of our meal several people who appeared to be locals came in and out to get takeout. Our waitress was very sweet and while she had some trouble with English, the service was nice and there were no mistakes. So we went for it! Our food was really good and I am thoroughly satisfied, and happy with our food. While sitting here - another party said they are locals and come here all the time. My daughter was craving sushi on a recent trip to Bar Harbor and found this restaurant a few blocks from our hotel. We're avid sushi foodies so even though the place seemed to mostly be Thai, I decided to roll with it. Yikes. The service was the worst I have ever had. The servers all seemed confused, literally all the time. All very polite but served each person in my party their food at different times with enormous gaps in between. No rhyme or reason. After we had been waiting for at least 20 minutes and my husband still hadn't been served we just gave up and left. The sushi itself was weird. We went there despite the 3 star yelp reviews as we were craving some Thai food. Bad decision though for the following reasons: 1. Very poor service. - The waiter/server said we have to order everything at once, as they can't add anything else to our order after that. The reason provided was that they are busy, even though the restaurant is not even 50% occupied and I don't see any take-outs/deliveries. He was sulky and grumpy. - Did not proactively bring us serving plates when food was served. And when we asked for them, he grudgingly brought them over but just left all 5 plates stacked on the side of the table. 2. Mediocre food - The taste was ok, and the portions were very very small. Very basic Thai and sushi digs in Bar Harbor. It's definitely owned by a family who is very sweet and the prices and service were very decent, but the food was pretty mediocre. I really wish the island had more places with this type of cuisine, but sadly, no. Bar Harbor itself is so small that the cuisine you will run into the most will be classic American seafood, so other types of cuisine are rare. We were really, really craving some sushi (not the kind you'd get in a fancy Contemporary American restaurant, but just some really mid-class, Asian sushi) so this place hit the spot. I would probably stick to the Thai food here, though. I had a drinks to start: - Plum Sake ($7): double serving, very sweet, but went well with the dishes we ordered Appetizers and Sushi: - Fresh Spring Roll ($8): light and not fried, complete with fresh vegetables inside and rice paper rolls - Spider Roll ($13): missing some ingredients, but soft shell crab was yummy - Salmon Skin ($9): also missing some ingredients, came with too much rice - Spicy Tuna ($8): probably the best one, stick to the classics here - Two rolls that say "tempura" at the end, which we didn't realize would mean the whole roll is deep-fried Overall, very cute place, but steer clear of the sushi and stick to the Thai food! We eat at this place few days ago and we ordered two dishes of our favorites. Basil Pork and Red Curry chicken and a bowl of Tomyum Shrimp. We both Thai and came to Bar Harbor many times and I was a past owner of Thai restaurant in CT. I must say this. The Tomyum Shrimp is nothing but few shrimps in Tomyum soup with the paste came out from the bottle you can buy in any Thai grocery store and a few pieces of bamboo. That was it. No mushroom , no onion, no tomatoes, no lemon grass. It has no flavor of Tomyum flavor at all. First of all, bamboo doesn't belong in any Tomyum soup. Taste horrible. The red curry chicken we asked for 4 stars spicy. We can see the dry ground pepper all over and that is how they make it spicy. it should be a fleshly chili paste. There are 4 pieces of sliced chicken with lot of mixed vegetable. We don't taste curry much but coconut milk. The Basil Pork has 4 pieces of small sliced pork with lot mixed vegetable and has no taste of basil at all. We only found a small piece of basil leave. If you new to Thai food and you think this is the best Thai food, then you never taste of real Thai food. I eat at this restaurant many years ago and ordered Basil squid dish. It was horrible. Bad experienced then bad experienced now. Dishes are pricy and not worth the money. Very disappointed and we're not going back again. We switched to Chinese the next day at Shinbashi Asain Cuisine in Ellsworth. The diner dishes was superb! Atmosphere and service was excellent. Best Chinese dining experience we ever had. read more

Everyone knows that Bar Harbor is known for its seafood, so seeing a Thai restaurant at Bar Harbor definitely brought doubts in our mind. But vegetarian food is not a specialty at Bar Harbor, so we decided to give it a try. Its a small place with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and we were seated promptly. Now to the food. I love Thai food and have had it at numerous occasions. Most Thai restaurants saute the vegetables along with the curry or noodles. This place was a little different. They prepared the curry and noodles and dumped raw veggies on top.....awful idea.
