Siam Orchid Cocoa Beach is a Thai, Japanese & sushi restaurant inside the La Quinta Inn that offers a casual space with Asian flair. We discovered this restaurant on our way back to the hotel and decided to check it out. After seeing the reviews on Yelp, we decided to make this our choice for dinner. Walking in, the location was clean and presented a dim ambiance. We headed to the hostess stand, requested a table for two and were immediately taken to our table. As it was my first time, I took a moment to take in all of the options. The menu was very robust and had pages of great options. Once I had taken it all in, I decided on the Crab Rangoon for my appetizer and the Pad Thai with Chicken as my entreé. Crab Rangoon: Very Meaty. Not the cluster of Cream Cheese inner back home. These were filled with crab meat and the right amount of cream cheese. They were very flavorful and fried to perfection. The sweet chili sauce provided was amazing as well and really put the flavor profile on 1000. Pad Thai: The Pad Thai was off the chain good. Great portion. Multi-Flavor profile dish which was done to perfection. All of the flavors paired well and allowed each one to shine. The level of sweetness was exactly as you would expect from a Pad Thai dish done right. Also, the noodles were done perfectly which really complimented the tenderness of the chicken. We stopped in here while looking for something a little different while on vacation. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We went for an early dinner. There were a few people but not overly crowded. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The service was fast and the ambience was nice maintaining a clean well lit environment. This restaurant used to be one of our favorites in Cocoa Beach. But unfortunately the quality has gone down since Kim left. What's more, they now charge 18% mandatory gratuity to the bill for parties of 4 (not 6). We paid even though the server was really bad. We won't be going back. This location has Thai and Japanese fusion cuisine. I ordered their soft shell crab sushi, it was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend ordered a chicken and rice entree with vegetables and he enjoyed it! Our summer roll appetizer came with plum sauce and peanut sauce and the plum sauce was the bomb...... so delicious! Terrible service - could be that they were understaffed, but our waitress didn't say a word to us the entire night. We ended up flagging down the hostess for drinks, our order and our check. The waitress dropped the items, didn't look at us and said nothing. Food was ok, but they forgot some items, which again required us to go to the hostess stand to correct. I wasn't thrilled that they charged 3.5% for credit cards, but I guess prices were low enough. I'd prefer for them just to raise the item price. 18% gratuity is automatically applied to parties of 4 - this was a sticking point for me considering we didn't even know the sound of our waitress's voice, but when the hostess cashed us out, she didn't add it. My husband and I enjoy this restaurant but I'll admit, we go there more since Nosh closed. I love that I can get more than sushi here but my spouse only gets sushi. The tuna was ok but the hamachi is excellent here. It's buttery and delicious. It was super crowded and the service reflected that. I don't know if they were short staffed or if our server was new but we did need to wait a longer than usual amount of time for our meal. Food : my friend and I had sushi and we both questioned how fresh it was. The sushi came to us warm like it had been sitting out. However, that didn't stop us from eating it and we are still alive today! Would I return to this restaurant if I had a choice I don't think so. Went to this restaurant while we were visiting in Cocoa Beach. It was all right and the ambience was pleasant enough, but we had a little mixup with one of our dishes. It was supposed to come with broccoli and there was no broccoli at all on it. They fixed the order, but they weren't very happy about it at first, asking me to show them on the menu what I ordered. It felt very awkward, but they had my order messed up and I wasn't gonna eat it like that. The restaurant was much bigger than I expected but not very busy when we dined (we planned for an early dinner to catch the Nuggets game!). We were seated quickly, though it did take ~15 min to meet our waiter. We ordered spring rolls and krab rangoons for appetizers. The spring rolls were good, perfectly crispy. The krab rangoons came with a sauce that had hints of an orange flavor that I really appreciated. For my main course, although I went back and forth, I opted to order the pineapple fried rice with beef. It seemed like a unique dish that I didn't want to miss out on! After reading reviews and seeing some photos, we decided to try out this restaurant. We ordered several dishes...and as each dishes came out, we were very disappointed. Miso soup was lukewarm...also other large soup we ordered was also lukewarm. My daughter ordered the drunken noodle and that was decent. My son ordered the red curry combination. That was decent but chicken was so overcooked and dry. But pad thai, ginger fish, pork shumai, and chicken satay were below average. They were all served lukewarm....as if dishes were precooked and just warmed it up quickly to serve. Chicken were dry and over cooked...just like the ones in the red curry. I say this because according to my Thai friends and other people I know who live in Thailand, they don't eat much sushi, if at all, there. My waitress introduced herself as Oi and at one glance I came to the conclusion that her parents were big fans of 80s punk rock or Australia. I joke, I joke! She was outstanding. I asked Oi for an order of the Green Curry with Tofu (I was trying to avoid the rubbery chicken of Chez Quan and Senzu), a Four Seasons roll, an order of Tuna Nigiri and a surprise menu find of Egg Drop Soup. Not only do I get to sample the cuisine in the style of Thailand and Japan, but I get China added into the mix. Score! It wasn't too long before I noticed Oi nimbly approaching with my order. After snapping a few quick photos for you visual learners, I grabbed my fork and dug into the Green Curry. This is bloody fantastic curry! It is properly spiced, the veggies are farm fresh and the rice a pure delight to eat. The Four Seasons roll consisted of Tuna and Escolar. While rolls are an American twist on the food traditionally associated with and introduced to the US by Japan, like flour tortillas or General Tso's chicken to their respective cultures, I found this roll to be exquisitely gratifying to my taste buds. If you take just a second and glance back or look at the photos I ask that you just take a moment and really look at that tuna. I don't think it was caught this morning off the coast here, but you could have fooled me. It was so fresh, if I squinted I could swear it moved. I also found the egg drop soup to be wholly wonderfully flavored and an excellent side to an experience of pure culinary jouissance. First of all, in all honesty, if it wasn't for Yelp reviewers, I wouldn't have stopped by this establishment. The place look worn, sign's were all faded and it is attached to a hotel. But since it was accross the street from where we were staying, we gave it a try. I had ordered Popeye's favorite which is Chicken (or Steak) over spinach with cashews, bell peppers and peanut sauce. A little on the sweet side, but excellent tasting! My wife had the Pad Woon Sen, which consists of Shrimp, clear vermicelli noodles, eggs and veggies and it was outstanding. Recently went here w/ some friends. Was quite busy when we went. I started w/ a Summer Roll customized vegan since I substituted tofu for shrimp. It came w/ lettuce carrots, bean sprouts, & basil leaves all wrapped in rice paper. The four small rolls were served a peanut dipping sauce along w/ a sweet & sour sauce. They were quite alright. For my entree ordered Pad Kee Mao or Drunken noodles. The dish featured stir fried wide rice noodles, basil leaves, onions, bell peppers, snow peas, carrots, & scallions.
