I got the half fried rice, half chow mein, black pepper fried chicken with jalapeños and onions, kung pao chicken and wonton soup. Surprisingly, the place was busier than expected on a Thursday at 8pm. It was a constant stream of people. The chow mein was being freshly cooked when I ordered. The fried rice was seasoned well. It must be the extra oil that makes it appetizing since it's pretty basic with carrots, peas and eggs. The black pepper chicken is fried chicken pieces tossed with black pepper, spicy jalapeño slices and onions. The dish was surprisingly spicy and different from their usual seasoning. Some of the other dishes taste very similar to each other. The kung pao chicken had chopped pieces of onion, chicken, crunchy celery and and crisp carrot. Last time I came (around 4-5pm), the dishes weren't as hot as I expected, so I'm glad the food is hot and freshly made during late dinner time too. read more

My boyfriend and I got different things so we can try a little bit of everything. We got, Mongolian beef, garlic pepper shrimp, general tso's chicken and salt and pepper pork ribs. Everything was delicious, by far the best Chinese food in the independence heights area. We usually go to Bellaire or 99 and Katy freeway for good asian food but I'm glad we have something closer to home. read more

I stopped by looking for some Szechuan Chinese. Ended up with their salt and pepper chicken and mapo tofu. Is it authentic? Eh - I didn't taste any Szechuan pepper in anything. I would rank this as a bit better than Panda Express but its pretty much the same: a steam table buffet of prepared dishes from which you can choose, but without the panda. Most of the food is fried although my friend had their stir fried vegetables which were fresh and flavorful. Definitely a good choice. The portions are big so if you are looking to fill up, not a bad choice for fast food. Place was clean and the staff was nice and it's cheap, so there is that. Finally found a good, fast, inexpensive Chinese food location in Houston. Think similar to Panda Express but the food is better and the quantities are larger! First time ordering I got the two main combo with General Tso's and black pepper chicken. Both delicious, so when I tried again I decided to expand to the three entire combo. Instead of simply decreasing the quantity of food (the two entire combo already filled up the takeout container) the third entree was served in a second container. Consider me sold! Sweet and sour pork was like eating rubber drowning in too much sauce with a mushy batter around it. They didn't have any medium size drink cups so I had to buy a large drink. As a born and raised New Yorker, it's so extremely hard to come across good Chinese outside the state . I've been in Texas 3 years now and have yet to find anything remotely close.... Until now . My taste buds were pleasantly surprised at proximity . My best friend who is also from NY shares the exact same sentiments . We had the fried rice, chow mein, general Tso chicken, hunan chicken, crab Rangoon, chow Jen egg roll and black pepper chicken . All of it was delicious . Service was top tier and welcoming as well . This is the best Chinese food I have ever had in the Houston area! I have lived here my entire life and I loveeee Chinese food. I've tried several places in the area and honestly nothing compares to this place. The prices are unbeatable. The reason I chose this location was because it was the only spot in the area that actually had reasonable prices. Everyone was really friendly. Checkout was easy. They just opened up. Entrees are too sweet. Veggies rolls are must. Fried rice is good, Pepper steak is good but still too sweet. Biggest disappointment was King Pao, too sweet, no heat at all, no peanuts, carrots are diced too small. Hot and Sour soup is tasty. Changes need to be made. My second visit for a while. I decided to leave a review this time because of the customer service. The place is actually a really nice place that I feel is better then Panda Express. But on this day the customer service was terrible. I ordered the salt and pepper shrimp and noticed that the lady gave me mostly onions and jalapeños with a few shrimp. I brought it to her attention that I didn't want mostly onions and she replied that they count out 8 shrimp per serving. I knew it wasn't 8 but didn't want to argue. After we payed, I opened my plate right there at the counter and counted the shrimp. It was 6 small shrimp and all onions. I pointed to my plate and told the lady she only gave me 6 shrimp and not 8. She then responded I gave you 8 shrimp, I counted. I then asked her well where did they go then because I haven't went anywhere and there's clearly not 8 shrimp here. She said she would give me two more but insisted she gave me 8. Wow like is your ego and pride so big that you can't admit to a mistake? You'd rather pretty much tell the customer they are lying and for what? Over two shrimp. I told her to run the cameras back then if she's implyIng that I'm stealing. This is the type of rude customer service that will stop me from coming back. The food is great but that right there is enough to ruin any business! read more
